Morning! I'm starting a new thread before I go to work as it may get filled before this evening.

Ah this is better and the sort of California casual that Meghan does well.

Nice! Double denim is back in. Plus - I love those Chanel pumps, and bought the M&S dupes on that basis.

I’ve been looking for dupes of those pumps too! There was a pair of similar shoes at the exhibition, from the 1940s IIRC. The exhibit stops with the death of Coco Chanel. Probably for the best as I’m not a fan of their more recent designs!

mazylou · 09/03/2024 09:24

I was at the Chanel exhibition yesterday and it completely blew my mind. Came home without the enormous book of the exhibition as I couldn't carry it, and my lovely partner has taken pity on me and ordered it online. The room with the multitude of classic suits was amazing.

Yes, that and the evening gowns displayed on the stairs were the highlights for me. I was glad to be able to get a ticket as I missed out on the Dior exhibit a few years ago.

Maireas · 09/03/2024 09:27

Nor me, Deftly - seeing some of the outfits Caroline and Charlotte of Monaco have worn - not very tasteful, imo. I looked for some Chanel shoes on Vestiaire - but I'm actually happy with the M&S ones.

OP posts:
KillingMeDeftIy · 09/03/2024 09:29

And Charlotte and Caroline seem to get the better stuff too - have you seen what they put Kristen Stewart in? She’s an odd choice of muse for them as she’s quite edgy/alternative and Chanel is many things but it’s not that!

Maireas · 09/03/2024 09:40

Yes, I saw KS in something very odd, kind of ripped leather? They're just going overboard with the logos, too. They need a design director to go back to the classic designs of Coco. The same has happened to Dior, very disappointing of late.

I agree there @Maireas. Camilla wore something Dior lately which was lovely, can’t remember what it was now. But other offerings just look like brand over style if you see what I mean. Even the men’s things, Harry wore a Dior suit to something Royal and it really looked cheap fashion than quality fabric and tailoring. I think at one point he was stood next to Edo and there was such a difference. It’s such a shame because I love the vintage Chanel and Dior, they were beautiful, but the modern stuff isn’t as good. I also agree that the M&S version of the shoes are pretty good, and I think it was river island that had some good dupes recently too.

gingercat02 · 09/03/2024 10:14

If anyone watches The Apprentice, Karren Brady wears some dodgy Chanel stuff. She had ENORMOUS CC earrings on a couple of weeks ago (I'm aware she is far from royalty, but she is a Dame)

KillingMeDeftIy · 09/03/2024 10:20

Can someone post a link to the M&S dupes? The only ones I can see online have bows on them, which I don’t really like.

Maireas · 09/03/2024 10:21

I bought mine a couple of years ago now, do they not stock them anymore? Disappointing about the bows. I'll have another look.

I was about to say the same thing
Awful. Looks like cheap stuff covered in CC logos.

Sorry, they don't seem to have them now.

I don't think I've worn double denim since a Bryan Adams concert in 1988... 😂😂😂

Maybe I just need the right Chanel pumps to give it another try.

Maireas · 09/03/2024 10:47

Ah, @RomainesToBeSeen - those were the days 😀. It always puts me in mind of Status Quo! But if anyone can pull it off, Meghan can!

OP posts:
RomainesToBeSeen · 09/03/2024 10:49

That was a fabulous outfit on Camilla @borntobequiet - I'd forgotten about it.

Maireas · 09/03/2024 10:52

Very dramatic, plus the sapphires.

KillingMeDeftIy · 09/03/2024 10:56

Possibly Camilla’s best-ever look though didn’t she also wear a red dress with Ruby jewellery recently too? That was an excellent look on her too.

MotherofPearl · 09/03/2024 10:57

I'm not sure that I like Meghan's white jacket over the double denim. It's an odd cut/style to me. Love the Chanel pumps though.

Thanks for posting the Chanel exhibition photos @KillingMeDeftIy. What a feast for the eyes.

KillingMeDeftIy · 09/03/2024 10:59

I think it’s meant to be oversized but may look a bit odd as she’s leaning forward and it’s hanging open.

SqueakyDinosaur · 09/03/2024 11:04

A couple more Chanel pics. It really is a stunning show. I'm sad that dinner pyjamas are no longer a thing.

Meghan is at an IWD event and sporting what certain fashion bloggers call “a scrolldown fug”. She looks great from the waist up, hair and makeup on point as always, but the skirt is too long and it’s a rare fail on the shoe front.

I love her dress. I rarely fault Meghan's style - it's crisp, elegant and XXI century. Her worst style years, IMO, were during the 2 years she was part of BRF. She had a very clear style before marrying Harry, and went back to her style after leaving.
