Morning! I'm starting a new thread before I go to work as it may get filled before this evening.

Ooh, that’s a beautiful portrait! I agree @MotherofPearl that we are in dire need of some serious style and sparkle. There’s not been much inspiration at all lately 😬

Papergirl1968 · 08/03/2024 21:05

Sophie and Edward attending an event today in which he was presented with a cake ahead of his 60th birthday, in which she made a speech describing him as her best friend and a great husband and father. Sweet!

Sophie’s also sporting a double breasted blazer. I guess she figured if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!

Maireas · 08/03/2024 21:09

Oh, that's so lovely! Plus matching double breasted jackets ❤️!
It's their Silver Wedding in June.

Meghan is at an IWD event and sporting what certain fashion bloggers call “a scrolldown fug”. She looks great from the waist up, hair and makeup on point as always, but the skirt is too long and it’s a rare fail on the shoe front.

Oops, accidentally posted a photo from the Chanel exhibition at the V&A too, but enjoy!

MotherofPearl · 08/03/2024 21:23

I love the red dress on the left from the Chanel exhibition.

Yes indeed, that is a shoe fail from Meghan. Pity, as the top half looks good.

It looks like double-breasted jackets are catching...

Maireas · 08/03/2024 21:24

I love those Chanel dresses! The striped one is gorgeous. All lovely colours.
I think Meghan's outfit is a bit imbalanced - I think the skirt is actually quite nice, but would look better with a more fitted top. The shirt is quite loose, and would look better with trousers or a pencil skirt, perhaps. I like the look of those earrings, though

It was a wonderful exhibition - a whole room of tweedy Chanel suits too, heaven!

Maireas · 08/03/2024 21:37

It sounds like heaven! A room full of Chanel ❤️

Meghan is so tiny it looks like one of Harry's shirts. It's just not right for her.

It's silk, so ot actually flows nicely, I just think the proportions are wrong. I also prefer her in stronger colours.

When I first saw "NEW LOOK" on that site, I used to think they meant the shop!

Me too 😂

Your Chanel picture is the unexpected star of the thread @KillingMeDeftIy - those dresses are fabulous.

I read the transcript of Sophie's speech and it was very lovely - I'll even forgive the 'his and hers' double-breasted blazers.

We so need some new and exciting Royal S&B fashion.

SqueakyDinosaur · 08/03/2024 22:27

Hard agree! Come on Max, wear something deranged. You know you want to!

Eaumyword · 08/03/2024 22:55

Nice photo of Sophie and Edward.
Really don't like Meghan's outfit.

KillingMeDeftIy · 08/03/2024 23:09

Here’s a few more Chanel photos for those who are interested.

Meghan's outfit is an utter horror.

The Chanel exhibition looks really interesting, that gold ballgown in the last photo is incredible.

KillingMeDeftIy · 09/03/2024 07:37

It’s not the best outfit I’ve seen on her but it’s not an “utter horror” either. Let’s keep things in perspective here 🙄 I’ve seen far worse.

Oh dear lord. I know we have a couple of Erdem fans on here (we are a very inclusive thread 😊), but I've not seen one to my taste. Also some items from the Vampyre's Wife.....

Ooh , Chanel pictures 😍, thank you @KillingMeDeftIy , that’s more like it and had lifted my style spirits no end!
Unlike Megs latest offerings. That’s not flattering at all and doesn’t do her any favours. It’s not a nice colour on her, looks limp rather than drapey, creased and as usual doesn’t fit. I want to like her choices but they usually miss the mark for me. Also, both items (shirt and trousers ) were just less than £1000 each, and even though they are silk they just not that amount of nice. I’ve seen better on the high street.
Edward (and Sophie) is fast becoming one of my favourite royals. He seems very low key, good natured, under the radar but loyally plodding on and doing what’s necessary. Even in his blazers. 🙂

Its definitely up there in the 'utter horror' category in my book. 😁
