Wedding dress for a chilly Yorkshire wedding? With pics

Hi S&B, posted in Weddings but reposting here for traffic.
I'm getting married in March, not August as originally planned! We got a sooner slot at the town hall (small wedding and informal dinner afterwards).

Here are pics of my bargain wedding dress that I love, but no good for March! 10 degrees average temp here at that time of year. If this is my style, please would you suggest a dress/ outfit for a chillier wedding?

Thanks so much @LookItsMeAgain.

I don't want a train on the skirt and the big sleeves on the second one are a bit much too, it's just 6 people wedding at the civic hall! The Lilian dress is maximum bridalness that I feel I want to go.

Size- I'm a 10 top and a 12 bottom, dresses fitted at top and flared at the bottom fit me at size 10.

Hate to say it OP, but it looks pretty much exactly what I expected from the original pic. I've already posted examples of other options but I wonder if they were a bit expensive. What about this from ASOS?

Holy crap... Jenny Packham for £30??

I switched my search on vinted to "prom" instead of wedding and this came up

Thanks I'll check out ASOS for a back up. I like the style you have linked. Was ideally hoping to do mine and DD's things all secondhand rather than fast fashion if possible.

How about a gorgeous knit like this teamed with a full satin or tulle skirt, either full length or tea length depending on your height? Would be a lovely vintage look.

Or a ballet-wrap style angora top with a tulle skirt. Ooh I want to get wed again now!!!

WashableVelvet · 28/01/2024 20:13

the Jenny Packham is gorgeous! There’s lots of floaty Hope and Ivy ones on Vinted too.
id want something properly warm for on top if doing a train and when outdoors - maybe this one https://www.vinted.co.uk/items/4031037955-vintage-jaeger-angora-swing-coat

What about something like this?

The listing mentions this though: Hem has been altered to fit me at 5ft 3 with heels.

Fair enough. I was trying to find you a dress that has sleeves though but having seen your last update, 3 of the 4 of the ones you liked don't have sleeves so I think I'll bow out as this time my suggestions are just not hitting the mark.

Have a wonderful wedding day whatever you end up wearing!

Zebracat · 29/01/2024 11:07

Love the Jenny Packham dress. I’m sure you will look wonderful.

housethatbuiltme · 29/01/2024 14:06

I'm further north than you and wore a very short wedding dress less than a month later than your date (8-12 degrees throughout the day) with no issue and most of the wedding was outdoors.

Didn't feel cold at all.

diddl · 29/01/2024 16:39

Love the furry jacket!

Good luck with the Jenny Packham.

LuckySantangelo35 · 29/01/2024 21:19

Just suck up being cold for a day OP for the sake of the dress you want!

Schoolrunmumbun · 01/02/2024 14:18

Jenny Packham beautiful but damaged- a whole row of beads pulled off : (

I have been offered to borrow this dress by someone incredibly kind. Trying it on tomorrow:

That dress is BEAUTIFUL

Schoolrunmumbun · 01/02/2024 14:29

It looks three times nicer in real life on the real bride who wore it! I didn't ask to borrow it and I don't even know her that well, she's a friend of a friend. Amazingly kind offer.

I feel like fate her intervened here to make you look fucking incredible!

Schoolrunmumbun · 01/02/2024 14:32

Haha! Aww! I'll take some pics tomorrow when I try it on and show you.

Other good news is the fur jacket is really nice so at least I have got that already.

Bpiece · 01/02/2024 14:42

That dress is so lovely! And the fur will look great with it. But the gold shoes look completely wrong to me. I’m not normally a fan of ‘dainty’ but I think that’s the kind of shoes you need here.

WhenWereYouUnderMe · 01/02/2024 14:43

I'd wear cute little ankle boots!

Schoolrunmumbun · 01/02/2024 14:45

I think on me it will be floor length in flats. Would probably get nude or dull pinkish ballet flats with that.
