Wedding dress for a chilly Yorkshire wedding? With pics

Hi S&B, posted in Weddings but reposting here for traffic.
I'm getting married in March, not August as originally planned! We got a sooner slot at the town hall (small wedding and informal dinner afterwards).

Here are pics of my bargain wedding dress that I love, but no good for March! 10 degrees average temp here at that time of year. If this is my style, please would you suggest a dress/ outfit for a chillier wedding?

DD wore a white fur (fake) stole on her late November wedding. She normally feels the cold but she was so excited she didn't notice the cold

I got married in April and wore this dress, Ralph Lauren but from Tkmaxx. I'm selling it on Vinted if you like it, if not then try Tkmaxx... They had a few wedding dresses and some lovely Ghost dresses when I went before Christmas.

I was a bridesmaid at a winter wedding and didn't want to splash out on a fancy wool coat so I bought a big faux fur collar off amazon and pinned it to my denim jacket.

I felt amazing!!! Obviously denim not for every wedding style but it worked for this one 😎

MrsCarson · 23/01/2024 15:49

A faux fur white bomber jacket or short faux fur wrap jacket (or same colour as bridesmaids dresses) You could all match.

I'm a fan of this look
Especially with boots. Would look super cute.

WhenWereYouUnderMe · 23/01/2024 17:15

I would wear a long beautiful coat and funky little ankle boots!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 23/01/2024 17:31

This a rather beautiful white coat.

I would keep dress - register office and reception venue likely to be warm

I though velvet cape (in blue gif your something blue) otherwise cashmere wrap

I think I’d wear this!

Perfect in a winter wonderland, bit batshit if it's just damp and overcast 😁

Twoshoesnewshoes · 23/01/2024 19:03

Maybe a very thin nude thermal vest underneath too

I got married in mid-April in the deep South of England, and we lucked out with the weather, but it was windy. I just wore a faux fur stole I found on ebay a little bit like this (but not as nice): https://www.libertyinlove.co.uk/products/ivory-feather-ribbon-tie-bridal-stole?variant=39719022690359&gclid=CjwKCAiA5L2tBhBTEiwAdSxJX5ZTR2VzfEpmERx2bxBe1kouUXREEH2J4HJLP0awa0DG2rftG_Ta5RoC6zkQAvD_BwE

We managed an hour or two of drinks outside on the lawn and I was fine, but I presume you aren't planning an outside wedding and just need something between car and register office and car and reception??!!

Hell, I'll send you mine if you want it!

Ivory feather ribbon tie bridal stole

This luxurious and beautifully flattering feathered cover-up is made with soft fluffy feathers in ivory. Fastens with satin ribbon ties. Satin lined.

That's so kind of you! I've ended up with a pinkish fake fur jacket from vinted- I'll show a pic again. Got it for £12. This thread has made me realise I can keep my original dress and manage with jacket and closed shoes.

The plan is- train into town (DD loves the train, just 20 mins) walk or taxi to town hall depending on weather. Meet the witnesses/ guests (3 more adults) on the steps and snap pics on phones. Quick basic registry office. Walk or taxi to a restaurant (where we had our 2nd date 8 years ago) for an early dinner and drinks and taxi home. DD in bed for 8 and me and new DH relaxing at home.

Sounds wonderful. I hope you have a fabulous day.

PieAndLattes · 23/01/2024 20:15

Can we see the ensemble on you? (Head cropped out obviously). Are you wearing anything in your hair?

BiffandChip1 · 23/01/2024 20:32

I got married at a Yorkshire town Hall in a typical strapless big wedding dress! I was fine! Didn't even notice the weather. (It was sunny but definitely not hot 🤣)

Yes, it's not arrived yet from vinted sellers but I'll show you all what it looks like on! Still no shoes or boots yet.

For @PieAndLattes who wanted to see it... it's come but it's not good : (

It wasn't "brand new with tags" as advertised at all (clearly been worn) but also the waist sits far too high on me anyway.

I've now found one in the sale at Monsoon but it's out of stock. I've asked to be emailed when in stock but not holding my breath.
