Think you've got problems? Look at my back:(

This is with a 'good fitting' bra and a control vest. Not in the slightest bit fair how wobbly my body is. Size 16 - 18, I wouldn't mind the size if things were firm and Inhate the way these rolls go diagnonally from my back to my waist and that my bras roll up no matter how tight they are, which also pushed the fat out of them.

So sick of trying to hide and trying to dress it into the styles I want in a way that works for my body. Diet is in a good place at the moment, I know weight loss and exercise is the fix but I've been down to a 10 on top before and obviously less fat = smoother lines but the firmness never improves.

Didn't want to wear a blazer with this outfit. Tell me there's a magic solution I can buy tonight!

Feeling sorry for myself!

No bra has ever been comfortable after a few wears and that includes one fitted at Rigby & Peller and another at a longstanding local bra fitted ran by an older lady, both that do it by eye and trying to 50 bras, not measuring with a tape measure.

All the bra shops struggle to find bras that are right on me! I'm a size 16-18 on top so don't feel I'm so large I shouldn't be able to get a bra that fits off the shelf?!

Sorry just seen second pic, that bra is better but still too small for you. Is it not uncomfortable?

It's not too small just because it's giving some back fat
If you put a bra that's firm enough to do some support on someone that is a bit squishy (including myself in this!) you're going to get back fat because it has to go somewhere

If I wore a bra that didn't give me back fat it would be up around my neck in minutes and doing nothing

I think this is honestly thee best it gets for me though I'm going to try some with those super deep backs and see if that helps, but I'm happier with this.

It looks more like what most women look who have back fat rather than the first pic where its just pure rolls?! The first pic to me would stand out in a room but the 2nd is more common.

Maybe I've gone from confidence crisis to delusional!!!

It is clearly too small. I have no idea why women on this site seem to wear the wrong size bra so much and use things like bra or bust, then complain their bras are so tight they hate wearing them or leave red welts on their skin, and they can’t wait to get them off. It’s crazy.

shes wearing the wrong size. It’s far too small. As is her top, sorry op, but it is, this isn’t just a little digging in to some squishy flesh, it’s clearly far too tight in the first image, both top and bra are one to two sizes too small.

Sorry op, just because it’s more common doesn’t mean it fits right,

P1nkLemonade · 20/01/2024 21:43

If I go looser in the back it rides up my back. It's like I have to have it tight and bulging to get support. I'm inclined to think on my body type there is no solution and must resign to lesser of two evils

Maybe, but having paid £110 for a bra in Rigby & Peller and no less than £50 in independent bra shops, I'm really not sure where else to turn!? I already understand the concept of going up in cup size and reducing back size and have tried a variety from 34Es to 40Cs but this is still the best it gets. As I say, the second bra was from an experiment older bra fitter who fits by eye.

Your clothes look too small, you must be physically as well as mentally uncomfortable. Try a size up, looser silhouette and print fabric.

Paw2024 · 20/01/2024 21:53

Marks on the skin are fine, not red welts but sock marks like you get from socks or jeans or legging seams
It's just a fact that if you have larger boobs, you need your band to be firm for support and if you have fat, your band can emphasise that

Info about marks

Like this one, just pulled off Instagram
It's her body, not the bra. No matter what bra you put on her, she would have rolls or back fat because.. she has back fat

EmmaEmerald · 20/01/2024 21:59

OP

i was very careful in my original reply
Maybe too carefully polite

but as you’ve not mentioned this factor at all -

much as I know it’s a shame and I can’t wear what I want either….why don’t you go for a looser fit or a skimming fit?

if you are keen to wear tight fitting clothing, then a bra isn’t going to change anything. by all means if you’re wanting a tight fit, go for it. But don’t spend more money on bras or shapewear. It’s not going to change the overall look.

Backinthedress · 20/01/2024 22:03

Get yourself to the Boob or Bust website and find a bra that fits properly. Tight is not necessarily bad, but the cup size needs to be bigger. A lot of that fat is actually breast tissue that has migrated and a properly fitting bra would work wonders.
Failing BoB go to bravissimo who'll do a similar job but you'll have to make an appointment.

Backinthedress · 20/01/2024 22:06

Sorry. Only the first page had loaded when I started to reply.
I stand by my suggestion of BoB though.

Backinthedress · 20/01/2024 22:09

This is definitely a better fitting bra. Do you remember to swoop and scoop?
I'm afraid, though, that weight loss and toning might be the only solutions to make a drastic improvement fundamentally, though you've had lots of great suggestions for visually disguising this with patterns and cut of clothing.

If it helps, I really don't think it's that bad. I think you're magnifying it because it's yourself and you don't often see your own back view so you're fixating.

Eta - this was supposed to quote the second photo you posted.

Mufflepuff · 20/01/2024 22:13

Why wear such a tight top though? I'm a slim size 10 and still don't wear clothes that are that tight. I think you need to choose more flattering and looser fit tops.

the only thing that migrates that far is a goose!

breast tissue that has migrated indeed. I’ll start saying that about my post baby stomach and c section overhang too. Maybe even my wobbly arse

redheadsaregreat · 20/01/2024 22:56

If you are a 16/18 with back fat, why wear a clingy white top? Seriously, even slim women over about 40 can't really get away with a top like that. The flesh is just not as firm.
Weights would help. Get lifting heavy weights. Not namby pamby 5kg. Proper weight to build some firmness.

WhereAreWeNow · 21/01/2024 07:43

Second picture with bodysuit undone is much better @P1nkLemonade .
I still agree with others that a less clingy style would be better and that pulling your shoulders back a bit would help.
Longer term, I honestly think the gym or swimming will help.
Short term, wear a different top - not because I think this one looks bad (I don't) but because you're worried about it enough to post on here so you're not going to feel confident and comfortable. You don't want to spend the whole evening worrying about how your top looks. Give yourself a break and wear something that makes you feel fab 😊

Kally64 · 21/01/2024 12:39

I agree sports bras can make you feel as if you’re in a restraint 🤣 I just think breast tissue health is something that should be taught from a young age, the high street make it very confusing. As you said ones persons tight is another persons strangle hold
it seems as though it’s a subject we’re both quite passionate about 😊

olympicsrock · 21/01/2024 12:51

I honestly think that a looser top would be more flattering. Sorry . I’m the same size as you.

pickledandpuzzled · 21/01/2024 13:07

Side Breast tissue definitely migrates to back fat if you don’t scoop it in.

If you don’t experience that, great, but don’t argue with women who do. My breasts are wide apart and a significant amount is at the side. I don’t have cleavage, more sideage.

Scoop it forward and get a wide and long bra band. It needs to be high at the underarm at the back, as well as low.

Strangely when bought new bras after losing a lot of weight, it was hellish hard to get a good fitting bra. It was Covid times, so I couldn’t go in to be measured. The empty skin is as problematic as the fatty flesh!

I bought loads and had the issue you have here. The strange bit is that it was a Sainsbury’s bra that worked best. Just ordinary off the shelf but it fit well.

I ordered about 20 in the measured size and one above and below to see what worked best. Took the others back.

heyhohello · 21/01/2024 17:03

@Kally6,

I agree sports bras can make you feel as if you’re in a restraint 🤣

You've just reminded me when I forgot a spare running bra on holiday (one wash, one wear). Feeling brave thought I'd 'just' buy a new one. Then got stuck in one in a sports shop! Had to shout for my husband to come into the changing cubicle and pull it over my shoulders! Son unsurprisingly pretended he wasn't with us!!!😂 Note to self, don't try to buy sports bras by dress size!!!

Who designs those things?

Same here, Im wearing the M+S total support, full cup non wired bra, its the only thing I can find that has enough coverage to cover over all the skin and hold it in, others which call themselves 'full cup' are nothing of the sort

But the word migrate doesnt mean what you're describing, I think people are saying that fat that is breast tissue moves around in the body, not that it just hangs out in other places when you're trying to put it in a bra

fuckssaaaaake · 21/01/2024 17:18

Goodness, style and beauty used to be the only place where people were not horrible! What's happened!! OP is clearly upset with her body and doesn't need the nastiness and comparing it to spine problems etc, Its in style and beauty so obviously she wasn't talking about a health issue!

OP, as others have said, the bra is too tight so if you wore a bigger one that would improve a lot. You don't look horrible at all, but I know how you can get fixated on a flaw and it magnifies it. The mean women on this thread obviously have never felt insecure about anything before!

I think she meant that the overspill of a bra when you haven’t swooped and scooped makes your back look fatter than it is, rather than that pockets of breast tissue had up and walked off to hang out somewhere else.

Let’s ask @Backinthedress who first mentioned migration!
