Think you've got problems? Look at my back:(

This is with a 'good fitting' bra and a control vest. Not in the slightest bit fair how wobbly my body is. Size 16 - 18, I wouldn't mind the size if things were firm and Inhate the way these rolls go diagnonally from my back to my waist and that my bras roll up no matter how tight they are, which also pushed the fat out of them.

So sick of trying to hide and trying to dress it into the styles I want in a way that works for my body. Diet is in a good place at the moment, I know weight loss and exercise is the fix but I've been down to a 10 on top before and obviously less fat = smoother lines but the firmness never improves.

Didn't want to wear a blazer with this outfit. Tell me there's a magic solution I can buy tonight!

Feeling sorry for myself!

Just noticed that the sleeves on the top are rather snug also, emphasising the upper arms.

Nope OP, that outfit doesn't work on you at all. I said it previously on the thread, and reiterating it now. Go looser, be a Loose Woman!

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 20/01/2024 10:52

The armpits are also well bunched up. The top is a size too small. This is what I look like if I accidently put on DD's top, i.e. a size too small, and I am reasonably toned.

Kally64 · 20/01/2024 11:01

As a lingerie stylist I would see this problem a lot. Just wondering how it fits in the cup? The band should be a deeper one and definitely isn’t too tight, it should be horizontal around the body. A lot of people get their cup size wrong and think their bra is too tight, where as it should be a bigger cup and a smaller band. I would try a minimum of three hooks, always start at the loosest fitting and then as it stretches you can make the band smaller. Having said all that, I do agree with other people about wearing styles that flatter our shapes, I love roll necks but because I’m heavy busted I won’t wear them as they make me look like a barrel. 🤣 We all have moans and groans about our shape, and yes there are plenty of people with much worse problems, however that doesn’t change how you feel about yourself. 😊

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 20/01/2024 11:08

I don’t do weights or Pilates but a close friend does this and it’s really toned her up, she’s 16-18.

heyhohello · 20/01/2024 11:42

@Kally64 I would still dispute the firm back band being correct in all cases. This is far too generalist. There are a number of factors that can make a firm back band uncomfortable regardless of cups fitting correctly.

Personally I have had a mastectomy. I have scars and have had lymph nodes removed. On top of that I am menopausal. Which means the skin can very easily get irritated and tight bands can restrict lymphatic flow (I can actually feel the difference!) and chafe the flesh and cause skin degradation.

The trouble is this recent fashion for very tight back bands has permanently so far now it is even affecting advice from companies which sell specialist bras designed for people who have had mastectomies. A lot of it boils down to marketing. Are you sure you are wearing the correct bra? A new method of measuring means replacing bras already owned after all.

I have altered my bras to fit. Extended bras. Taken bras in. Added pockets to hold a prosthesis. I have a good idea of what works and doesn't. And the goal posts move. Weight, skin elasticity and muscles tone can change so fit will change with it. And fit methodology sometimes needs to change to. A correct fit should be comfortable!

TheFireflies · 20/01/2024 11:47

First, this is on style and beauty so can people stop giving the OP a hard time for her slightly hyperbolic post. Obviously there are worse things, but OP can still have a moan if she wants to.

slightly, lol

Of course OP can have a moan but I think it’s the frankly ridiculous and self-indulgent thread title that has irritated people.

DrFoxtrot · 20/01/2024 12:28

I'm absolutely baffled by PP going on about the hyperbole in the title 😂 do people need the word 'lighthearted' to be included to understand that the OP is just having a moan? I'm sure she doesn't really think her back is the worst problem EVER. I've never come across people that take things so literally in real life. Just on MN!

Loads of threads are like this, people just dont get it

I hate it when the OP says 'lighthearted' in the title or OP, ruins it for me, its obvious when its lighthearted or just something to chat about

PieAndLattes · 20/01/2024 13:21

Your clothes look uncomfortably tight and unflattering. I’d size up in the top and skirt and that would create less ‘bunching’ around your middle. You’re definitely wearing the wrong bra size/style so I’d get fitted and then try a range of bras in that and their sister sizes (e.g. 36F/34G/38E) as bra sizes aren’t consistent, even in the same shop.

Kally64 · 20/01/2024 13:24

@heyhohello
i can see what you’re saying however it isn’t a recent trend to have a tight band, it should be firm but not overly tight, when people have had mastectomies or reconstructive surgery we used to fit very differently. I mentioned the cup because if wires are digging into breast tissue it can cause problems. It’s the band that does most of the work. I worked in a very small shop and was trained nearly 20 yrs ago by manufacturers of some of the most well known brands
I really appreciate what you’re saying but didn’t mention mastectomies as it hadn’t been spoken about in the initial comments 😀

Kally64 · 20/01/2024 13:27

We would never have sent somebody out in a bra that wasn’t comfortable either, the age range of our customers were those just starting to wear bras to ladies in their 90’s

Gettingbysomehow · 20/01/2024 13:29

I oy realised recently that I had back rolls. I never look at my back and I live alone. I used two mirrors to check it out.
But it's no big deal I just wear a properly measured bra that fits perfectly and a loser top.
Looks fine.
You can't wear tight tops like that when you have spare fat. You need to dress for your shape.
A bit like large ladies wearing skinny jeans.....horrible.
Anyone can look great if they wear the right clothes.

@Kally64, I thought it was worth saying as one person's 'firm' can be another's 'very tight'. I'm pleased you took other factors such as surgery into consideration though. The 'boob or bust' measuring method as opposed to the adding inches to under bust measurement is a relatively recent trend in terms of advice in size guidelines of how to measure yourself, at home. Which is complicated further by the elasticity of each individual garment. Can you tell bras (especially ones for running) have practically reduced me to tears before now? 😂 Thankfully, I've got a suitable wardrobe full of serviceable ones now but it can all start to happen again as lines get discontinued!

MyFirstLittlePony · 20/01/2024 13:54

Just wear it if it is comfortable and you like this outfit

Nobody looks perfect

Franklyfrost · 20/01/2024 14:03

Everything looks uncomfortably tight. You could go a couple of sizes up and still be wearing close fitting clothes. Rolls are part of having body fat and they will look voluptuous rather than awkward if they have some space.

DollfaceK · 20/01/2024 15:14

Hey Hun I feel your woes,
As a fellow top heavy apple shape who stores fat in my upper torso and arms and I have broad shoulders. Trust me the rowing machine sorted me out and toned up my torso. Used to go down to the local sports centre before the school run and row. In the meantime time find a great waist trainer and try your best to avoid carbs and sugar as these lead to inflamation/ bloat

P1nkLemonade · 20/01/2024 15:15

Didn't expect so many replies! Apologies to anyone who was upset by the thread title, I was being dramatic! The top is actually a body suit I had fastened so made it even thinner looking. I've switched into another bra and unfastened the suit, I can see a difference- I dont expect things to look super smooth because my body isnnot but the previous bra was bulging me everywhere like another pair of boobs! I'm going to look for a similar top thats a bit thicker and not a bodysuit style and return this one, think a few ruffles of material help?

Would you believe it, the previous bra I had on rides up as though its too loose and is actually an anti-back fat bra!!

Think you've got problems? Look at my back:(
OP posts:
Bestyearever2024 · 20/01/2024 17:22

That looks much smoother 👍

soupfiend · 20/01/2024 18:30

Much better

But flesh coloured bodysuit!!!

Walk away from the flesh coloured bodysuit!

I mean who would that ever suit and flatter, things like that are an abomination OP!

P1nkLemonade · 20/01/2024 18:51

It's not flesh colour! I never wear anything between a light beige and a caramel for all the reasons you might think, unless it's nude spanx under garments!

This is white/off white but perhaps not showing that well on camera, I'm screengrabbing from a self shot video and cropping.

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 20/01/2024 19:16

The other thing that may help is a bit of attention to posture - these photos look as though the shoulders are rounded forwards rather than standing straighter with shoulders back and down. It's something many of us do if we're not thinking about it!

soupfiend · 20/01/2024 19:50

Well much of a muchness, white, off white, flesh colour, light beige

None of those hues are right for flattering the average body

sleepysleepytired · 20/01/2024 20:19

You do need to rethink your clothing style and sizing. I don't know many people who would look good in a top like that. Dresses can be flattering and skimming if you find the right shape for you. Clothing doesn't need to cling.

Jf20 · 20/01/2024 20:21

I mean this politely but I think your bra is too small, significantly so, it’s digging in and giving you that bulge under it.

Jf20 · 20/01/2024 20:22

Sorry just seen second pic, that bra is better but still too small for you. Is it not uncomfortable?
