Think you've got problems? Look at my back:(

This is with a 'good fitting' bra and a control vest. Not in the slightest bit fair how wobbly my body is. Size 16 - 18, I wouldn't mind the size if things were firm and Inhate the way these rolls go diagnonally from my back to my waist and that my bras roll up no matter how tight they are, which also pushed the fat out of them.

So sick of trying to hide and trying to dress it into the styles I want in a way that works for my body. Diet is in a good place at the moment, I know weight loss and exercise is the fix but I've been down to a 10 on top before and obviously less fat = smoother lines but the firmness never improves.

Didn't want to wear a blazer with this outfit. Tell me there's a magic solution I can buy tonight!

Feeling sorry for myself!

Really recommend reformer pilates with a good instructor( not one of the classes where there are a row of people on reformers all doing the same thing) tell them what you want to target and the amount the underlying tissue with tighten is astonishing. It will compete change your shape if you work at it. Failing that sticking at a mat class with real precision and focus and an instructor focused on detail will also help a lot. Its less harsh than weights if you feel that's to tough to start off with.

thechangling · 20/01/2024 06:01

Wear something dark on top - dark green, navy, black. It's a lot more forgiving

Futb0l · 20/01/2024 06:16

The bra is too tight

Newestname002 · 20/01/2024 07:57

@P1nkLemonade

I totally agree with POsxabiut getting a better fitting bra and clothing which skims your body more. You will look should feel more comfortable and hide any unwanted curves better. Also wearing matching block colours for your whole body so there is no break between the top and bottom halves of your body.

Also consider wearing a loose waistcoat- I used to buy mine from men's departments. They were more generously cut, better made and often better fabrics/patterns than women's. The waistcoat also helped pull the outfit together better. 🌹

POsxabiut = previous posters. 🌹

You definitely aren't wearing flattering clothing. You need to find what style suits you. The bra and top are very tight and unflattering.Long term diet and exercise to firm things up.

@P1nkLemonade I don’t think the flesh coloured top is doing you any favours. Not sure what colours suit you, but dark colours such as black and navy seem to be more forgiving.

This. Flesh coloured and too small
Is a dreadful combination. Go for something darker, thicker material, maybe a small pattern.

NCADHD · 20/01/2024 08:34

I'm a size 8 and if I wore a tight bra under a skintight white top, you would also see some rolls

hmmdunno · 20/01/2024 08:36

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/01/2024 22:42

No op that is not a big problem. Seriously. If that was my only issue in life I’d be healthy and in the land of the living. Please be happy with what you have.

sorry to hear that you’re dead, amazing you can post at all really

MRSMTO · 20/01/2024 08:38

@hmmdunno 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

These dead folk will do anything to win the 'I've got it worse than you' race!

Oh fgs! I thought this post was going to be about real back issues not completely controllable weight issues! Google scoliosis and kyphosis then moan about your back

Ah, the age old.. ‘how dare you complain when someone has it worse’ 🙄

OldBeyondMyYears · 20/01/2024 08:41

Honestly...wear something more flattering OP. A skin tight t-shirt is not your friend here right now.

HeadNorth · 20/01/2024 08:55

Did you use the dreaded Mumsnet method for your bra size? Honestly, too tight across the back bras hurt and can also cause rolls of fat above and below. Use the good old M&S way and be comfier Grin Then echo what everyone else says - tight clingly clothes emphasise a problem area that is easily covered. Longer term solution is exercises that focus on the back, if you want.

soupfiend · 20/01/2024 08:56

Also I cant wear a really tight bra, it sets off my acid reflux

Unwisebutnotillegal · 20/01/2024 08:58

I like the recommendations for Pilates and weights add in cycling for 20-30 minutes a day, I’ve found it smooths out the sacral aspect of the lower back.

Verite1 · 20/01/2024 09:02

First, this is on style and beauty so can people stop giving the OP a hard time for her slightly hyperbolic post. Obviously there are worse things, but OP can still have a moan if she wants to.

Second, OP, you are being hard on yourself. You appear to have a narrow torso and therefore weight gain will be more obvious on your back. I’m size 10 and a skin tight white top would probably be unflattering on me as well. As others have said, sometimes you do have to modify what you would like to wear, bearing in mind your body shape.

And third, yes, toning that area is mainly about exercise (weights, yoga, Pilates). Perhaps rowing actually?

Gemstonebeach · 20/01/2024 09:13

Everything looks too tight. My sister is larger than you size wise and she looks great in her clothes because everything fits properly.

I also struggle weight wise with the area under the breast and above the waist. Only cutting out alcohol for significant periods makes it go away as it seems to be sugar triggered and aside from alcohol, I don’t eat much sugar.

Garlicnaan · 20/01/2024 09:15

I'm a size 8 at the lowest end of healthy BMI and I have back flab as well. I don't do exercise targeting that area which I think is the main reason, that and age / lack of collagen. I wouldn't wear a very tight top either, I usually wear skimming or loose clothes.

heyhohello · 20/01/2024 09:23

@Garlicnaan, me too except I do do exercises to target the area. The back flab doesn't show through my clothes but it effects bra fit. Bra fit was the reason I started the exercises because bras were cutting in at the armpits.

I think part of the problem is with the recent bra or bust methodology which stars the back band should provide much of the support for the bra and hence should be very tight. I have to balance the support between straps and band. If the back band too tight it cuts in and I get chafing. If too loose the straps press down too much. Obviously I don't want either so I concluded building muscles was the answer. However, as you say, we lose collagen as we age (I'm menopausal) and the skin is also less robust. So good skincare is a must too.

The exercises have benefitted me but it's not overnight and bra fit isn't like it was in my 20s.

heyhohello · 20/01/2024 09:23

States not stars.

MatterofTime24 · 20/01/2024 09:31

Not many people can wear a tight pale coloured top tucked into a tight skirt. It’s just not flattering. Even if you are really slim there will be rolls when you sit down. You don’t have to wear that!

Kittythecutest · 20/01/2024 09:39

I think you need to wear something underneath, a camisole or something.

Paw2024 · 20/01/2024 10:43

DrFoxtrot · 19/01/2024 23:50

This is why I never understand those threads where posters say 'I'm a size 16 and wear a 34 back bra', the boob or bust method! I imagine a lot of people would have the same issue. And PP commenting on the seriousness of the back problem - it's the S&B board not Health.

You are being more critical about yourself than others would be OP; a slightly looser, flowing top would look great.

I'm that exact size and it's not tight, just firm for support. Comfy enough to sleep in
There's a bit about back fat here. I mean if your band is firm enough to support, and you already have back fat, it won't get rid of it
You can try longline ones, wear a smoothing vest, looser tops etc but it's just one of those things
