knickers (now that M&S's are shit)

I thought I'd found the holy-grai of knickers with the M&S flexifit shorts (high and low waisted). But they have gone baggy after just over a year and at that price (£16 for 3 pairs) I'm not willing to shell out for more.

Can anyone recommend an alternative? I like the shape of the M&S 'shorts' style and I'm all about comfort over style. I'm willing to pay a bit more for pants that will actually last longer than 15 months...

Just over £5 a pair isn't bad for 4 months wear each. I still buy them.

Hmm, I hadn't thought about it in terms of cost-per-wear! I have other knickers from M&S that are nearly 8 years old and are still going strong.

Agree with this. Just buy the knickers. Life is too short to be testing out knickers, only to go back to the ones you liked best in the first place!

LubaLuca · 08/01/2024 14:32

I agree with the others. Knickers aren't investment pieces. Buy the ones you like and live comfortably 😊

App13 · 08/01/2024 14:35

Im a huge believer of flexifit!

Moier · 08/01/2024 14:37

Snag..
I've had their tights and knickers for years...and still like new

FluffActually · 08/01/2024 14:40

Sloggi are a bit more expensive but look to last until the apocalypse

muddyford · 08/01/2024 14:43

I liked their white cotton boy-style shorts but if course they stopped them and are now in only in black or ghastly 'girly' patterns in viridian and puce. Found perfect replacements in Sainsbury's at about a pound a pair.

OK, I do hear you. But they started going baggy a long while ago, I've just been eeking out the very last of them...

Is this the way of the world now - that I have to replace knickers once a year!?!

But yes, I do get the point about the long search ending in buying the ones you always wear anyway. (Been here before!)

I don’t know if they have the style you like but I have found Sainsbury’s knickers robustly built and good value.

scrivette · 08/01/2024 14:50

Sainsburys and I find Primark good value for money, they last longer than a year.

FoamyBanana · 08/01/2024 14:50

Innersy knickers are amazing. Like M&S knickers used to be! You can get them on Amazon. Really recommend them - super comfortable and really good quality. They last forever.

MrsDilligaf · 08/01/2024 15:03

Sloggi are the best knickers I've ever had. The fit works well with my shape, they wash brilliantly, keep their shape and are very comfortable.

I like my knickers to last - I've had some sloggis years and they still look like new.

INeedNewShoes · 08/01/2024 15:22

Sainsbury's for slightly better quality than M&S but cheaper or John Lewis for better quality and slightly higher price.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 08/01/2024 15:27

I buy Wirarpa from Amazon, I try not to buy from Amazon where possible but these were recommended on MN and they are very sturdy and comfortable.

I thought inward going mad!! I bought a pack of 6 pairs and two shorts, shorts are 'ok' but not great - the 5 pack disintegrated after 1 wear! ... will be interested as I like shorts too

banjocat · 08/01/2024 15:31

Everything is going up in price really so if you want quality that lasts you'll probably have to pay more than £16 for three pairs.

M&S have sacrificed on quality, some other retailers have just put up the costs.

Check out Sloggi etc as recommended above for better quality, but don't expect not to pay for it.

Sloggi for me too. The control pants are ace. They also last in perfect condition for years and years.

Themountainwithsnowonit · 08/01/2024 15:34

The wirapa ones are great. They last and last, and are perfect as long as you don't mind 'sturdy'.

I've given up on M & S, they go saggy and baggy far too quickly.

alltootired · 08/01/2024 15:39

Good quality knockers should last years.

Plus one for Innersy.
