knickers (now that M&S's are shit)

I thought I'd found the holy-grai of knickers with the M&S flexifit shorts (high and low waisted). But they have gone baggy after just over a year and at that price (£16 for 3 pairs) I'm not willing to shell out for more.

Can anyone recommend an alternative? I like the shape of the M&S 'shorts' style and I'm all about comfort over style. I'm willing to pay a bit more for pants that will actually last longer than 15 months...

Good quality knockers should last years.

😂

alltootired · 08/01/2024 15:41

The quality of everything is going down. Even the old cheap style ASDA knickers used to last longer than the current M and S ones.

bluebunny1 · 08/01/2024 15:44

Just got myself some more Sloggi in the sales (€10 each where I am) because the previous pairs lasted so well. They wash really well even in our terrible washing machine with all the family laundry at 40 degrees. Really comfortable and look great under clothes.

Primark cotton boy short style knickers . They're cheap and comfortable.

Innersy knickers are amazing. Like M&S knickers used to be! You can get them on Amazon. Really recommend them - super comfortable and really good quality. They last forever.

Second this. I couldn't work out what was wrong with the knickers I was buying from M&S and John Lewis. Once I bought some Innersy knickers (recommended on here) I realised the legs go baggy now on my usual pants because there's no elastic or binding round the legs any more. Innersy have elastic and they're cotton, very comfy.

H&M men's short boxers.

They're cotton, they're cheap and they don't ride up your butt cheeks or give you a wedgie. Just comfy.

I just haven't found a good women's option. Quite obviously, I don't need the penis hole at the front.

AvoSourdough · 08/01/2024 16:05

Boody are comfy and have kept their shape after a few years. They still have a small sale on.

Everything is going up in price really so if you want quality that lasts you'll probably have to pay more than £16 for three pairs.

M&S have sacrificed on quality, some other retailers have just put up the costs.

Check out Sloggi etc as recommended above for better quality, but don't expect not to pay for it.

As I said in my OP, I’m happy to pay more for knickers that last

Those of you who wear Sloggi - are there any recommendations of which ones? There is an overwhelming array of choice!

Everytime I suggest Wirapa people shout at me for suggesting the ugliest, unsexiest knickers known to womankind. But also the comfiest!

MsMaraschino · 08/01/2024 16:30

Definitely Wirapa for me. I buy Innersy for my daughters.

GettingStuffed · 08/01/2024 16:33

Tesco boy shorts

fgswhywouldIdothat · 08/01/2024 16:37

Sloggi

£££ but they will outlive me. I will leave them in my will to be passed down the generations.

Uniqlo!!!!!

Their airism range is great. Also they’re seamless.

Lisapillar · 08/01/2024 16:59

Another vote for innersy. They are often on lightening deals too.

I've had mine for over 45 years 🤣

Oldraver · 08/01/2024 17:22

I wear Oddballs shorts for everyday as I cant have elastic at the knicker line area, especially when its that zig zaggy stuff. I also have Step One shorts (a bit longer)

All a bit more expensive but I'm a few years in with Oddballs and no wear on them

MamPadi · 08/01/2024 17:30

Try Boody, they do a short style (although personally prefer their high waisted style), they are pricey but last well and are so soft and comfy

KittyMcKitty · 08/01/2024 17:33

I like Stripe and Stare - not the cheapest but soooooooo comfy!

I buy Wirarpa from Amazon, I try not to buy from Amazon where possible but these were recommended on MN and they are very sturdy and comfortable.

Another vote for these...

KvotheTheBloodless · 08/01/2024 17:37

M&S knickers are great but you need a size smaller than your actual clothes size.

anothernamechangeagainsndagain · 08/01/2024 17:38

Mine are from Sainsburys, very good for the price

Aparecium · 08/01/2024 17:42

Another convert to Wirarpa from Amazon. Every style I've tried has been good: comfy and hardwearing.

WhereAreWeNow · 08/01/2024 17:43

Uniqlo and Sloggi cotton high legs.
