Ah thanks @Dee1224 , I stopped knitting for years, but started up again two or three years ago and I’m amazed by how quickly it all came back.

@Snowyowl78 thanks for the size info and the photo, it does look really good! I can see why you’d want one of each colour.

@FiddleFigs thanks 😊 - it’s a Petiteknit pattern. It’s mean to have a roll neck, but I made it with a crew neck andI also shortened the body. It’s got saddle shoulders which sit nicely if you’re broad or square shouldered I find.

Terrazzo Sweater

The Terrazzo Sweater is worked from the top down. First the yoke is worked flat (back and forth) on the circular needles, while the neckline is being shaped, then the work is joined to be knitted in the round. The yoke is constructed with shoulder incr...

Morning all. Have been following but haven't had a great deal to report until Have jumped on the jumpsuit wagon and bought the new cross front indigo one. I tried it on with reservations as I carry a lot of weight on my tummy but somehow it looks really good and flatters that area, a bit like the wrap jumpsuit does. Extremely pleased with it!

I am also waiting on the Freya crinkle gingham dress and front pocket indigo shirt which they didn't have in the shop to look at so I've ordered them just to "see" - they should arrive today.

I have attached a photo so you can see. I sized up to the 16 (I would generally be a 14) as the bust area was a little tight. The legs are slightly baggier than I would like but I can generally live with that!
Excuse my pile of clothes at the front!

@AFingerofFudge - I like that on you. Looks good.

I've been following but nothing to report here. Not bought anything from the new drop yet but I'm planning to sell 1 or 2 items to cover the Garden Bloom bandana.

Early last year I sold loads of Toast on FB and eBay. I've made less mistakes over the past 12 months so hope, moving forward, will have less wardrobe churn (and buying) while I enjoy the things I already own. Looking forward to digging out my Spring/Summer Toast clothes.

Dee1224 · 09/02/2024 11:22

Morning, everyone - has anyone been to a Kindred event in store? Are they usually crammed with people?

I am wearing my bargain eBay tunic purchase today - I am very pleased with it.

I love that colour @AFingerofFudge - it looks great on you.

Alpacasoft · 09/02/2024 12:51

No1Mousie · 08/02/2024 08:55

@Alpacasoft ti loved the flecky Donegal so this was my ‘knock-off’, with Noro Medera yarn. The construction for the space dye jumper looks more straightforward, but t will need to scrutinise photos!

@Qweesh was it the Japanese flat front jeans - I’ve got those in my saved list they look lovely!

That's lovely @No1Mousie
I like the flecky yarn, I've got a beautiful green Noro jumper somewhere I must dig it out

I've jumped on the jumpsuit bandwagon and ordered my toast recommended size 10 and also the Olive crinkle dress in medium.
I have a feeling the jumpsuit is going to be too short in the rise.

faustina · 09/02/2024 13:23

@AFingerofFudge - that does look good on you! I saw it on Instagram the other day and the person was wearing the long bandana with it. I bet it won't stay in stock for very long!

Thank you so much @No1Mousie for the PetiteKnit inspiration. I'd never heard of them before and am now following on Insta - what beautiful patterns they have - simple, but interesting. Is it easy to get the wool they recommend in the UK?

I have dug out my twill gabis today - had forgotten how comfortable they are, but what I really want is a pair of trousers with a slightly wider/barrel leg (cropped), as a pull on, but in some kind of canvas, so more structured than my alixes and definitely not the linen pull-ons. There's something almost right on Insta - le bon shoppe arc pants, but they disappear as soon as they come into stock. Anyone have any ideas? I wish Toast would do something but I think it's all going to be high summer from now on

FitzLea · 09/02/2024 14:54

@faustina what colour are you after in the arcs?

faustina · 09/02/2024 14:58

@FitzLea - natural I think. Maybe khaki? Have you tried them?

FitzLea · 09/02/2024 15:11

@faustina I haven’t, but I really like the look of them. I can only find the denim in S, and I’m kind of wishing they came in more colours…

faustina · 09/02/2024 15:14

There seems to be a real gap in the market for something similar doesn't there? I can find lots in linen or lightweight cotton, but nothing more structured in a heavy canvas

FitzLea · 09/02/2024 15:19

Yes absolutely @faustina there are also the Mabel trousers from Beyond Nine, but those are linen too. I find jeans and trousers without elasticated waists uncomfortable now, so have also been looking. I actually ended up purchasing the Toast wool cotton wide leg trousers recently (the dark navy ones with the dropped crotch) and they are really comfortable and lovely, but a different shape obviously.

If I spot a khaki arc somewhere I’ll let you know…

faustina · 09/02/2024 15:21

Thank you! Yes I looked at beyond nine and they're lovely, but linen or cupro

TerrierOrTerror · 09/02/2024 16:00

I have just caved and ordered the Dark Olive Crinkle dress. Was re-Kindred-ed so taking advantage of the continued post pass and I fear this will be a popular dress.

Given the only thing I've bought full price has been faulty I am nervous to say the least!

No1Mousie · 09/02/2024 17:10

thanks @Alpacasoft , It was the first time I've used Noro, and I'm pleased with the outcome.

@faustina Glad I can spread the love! They're really wearable and I find the patterns very clear. You might also like https://myfavouritethings-knitwear.com/collections/english and also, https://anneventzel.com/shop/4-english/

https://www.tribeyarns.com , https://loopknitting.com , https://knitt.co.uk are good for sourcing some of the yarns, or I just substitute with a similar yarn.

Qweesh · 09/02/2024 20:30

@No1Mousie ooo those knitting pattern links are fab. Some gorgeous bits. I have a knitting list as long as my arm but I am the slowest knitter in the world; I need to start now for next winter 😂

No1Mousie · 09/02/2024 22:18

@Qweesh i know! I’ve been looking for a summer sweater to knit and there’s just too many lovely patterns, and yarn and I can’t make a decision 🙈

OftenOrange · 10/02/2024 09:20

@No1Mousie Joining the applause for your beautiful jumper , I also started contemplating knitting it though it’s been decades since my last project and every jumper I knitted came out 3 sizes too big despite doing the tension square beforehand . Maybe I should try something small with very cheap wool before committing .
@Snowyowl78 I love your green outfit , the cardigan is such a yummy colour.
@AFingerofFudge The jumpsuit is brilliant , Toast have really nailed it with this one and the wrap waist version which I wear a lot .
I can’t justify this as it’s so similar , but will enjoy seeing how everyone here styles it.
@Dee1224 I went to the last Styling event at Notting Hill Toast, also run by Evie . Despite getting the time wrong and missing all the chat , meeting others and what looked like a lavish breakfast , I loved it . Numbers were limited, we were shown new stock in detail including lots of styling ideas , given a nice gift , and best of all a 20% discount which led to the purchase of two coats!
Really recommend it . I don’t buy much at this time of year but look forward to hearing all about it if anyone goes.

Dee1224 · 10/02/2024 09:41

Thanks for the info @OftenOrange - the Kindred events sound lovely. I would love a 20% discount! (I have lots of things in my wishlist…)

Snowyowl78 · 10/02/2024 10:32

@OftenOrange i think that was someone else :)
has anyone had a 20% this time? I was holding off wearing anything new just in case!

OftenOrange · 10/02/2024 11:31

@Snowyowl78 Apart from the Kindred styling event and occasional discounts over 8 yrs back I wasn’t aware of any discounts being given, is that something I’ve missed?
The beautiful cardigan was posted by @couldhavegonethen such a lovely colour.
@No1Mousie That little jacket is so good , I hankered after the ecru version last year but I’ve jumped ship as I think the slate would be so useful .

I decided to keep the sale Wideleg Parchment Linen Cotton trousers with the defective pleat . Toast couldn’t get me another pair but knocked 15% off , and as they look best on me with a short top which hides the defect I was happy to keep them

Snowyowl78 · 10/02/2024 11:45

@OftenOrange some people got one a couple of months back, was random. Is prob wishful thinking on my part!

Dee1224 · 10/02/2024 12:37

I like that too @Snowyowl78 !

lordloveadog · 11/02/2024 15:18

I tried a few things recently.

The Indigo Cotton Twill Dress is a nice fabric and would be good on someone with slight shoulders and limited chest, but has no room at all for boobies.

Ditto Bold Stripe Cotton Tee, which folded around bosom.

The Loop Back Jersey Wide Leg Trousers were disappointing. I love my cropped blue ones and was keen to get these because cropped is no use during much of the year. But these were less flattering though I'm not sure why. Not such a good cut around hips/waist somehow.

Pleated Organic Soft Cord Trousers are beautiful but were too small on me. If you're often between sizes, go for the larger size with these.

I kept the Organic Cord Pull On Trousers in sage and am very pleased with them. They're very generous - my usual size was almost too big.

A square boat neckline underscores the nautical influences behind our cotton jersey tee. Patterned with wide stripes. Available in Blue/Sand.

lordloveadog · 11/02/2024 15:23

Does anyone have any tips for trousers which don't 'grow'/go baggy?

I find that a lot of the trousers I like (from Toast and elsewhere) can only be worn for one day and then have to be washed to reshape. They go baggy especially around knees.

I'm actually going to sell some of my denim trousers from Toast because they don't even last a day - by the time I get home they're all flobby.

But then others don't have the issue or much less. For example the Polka stripe ikat fisherman trousers. I find I can wear those for several days, which is much more convenient, especially when travelling.
