The spaced dyed jumper keeps on popping up in my insta feed, and I’m just blinking confused! The description says it’s hand-loomed, but It’s not, it’s knitted. Those are two different techniques that deliver very different fabrics, but why do Toast persist in saying it’s hand-loomed? Does hand-looming sound more artisanal than using a knitting machine I wonder …

I mentioned this when it first appeared
Hand loomed refers to woven fabric
I think they mean handspun yarn

No1Mousie · 07/02/2024 19:16

@Alpacasoft ah, sorry wonder if I missed your post 😔 Yes, perhaps that’s what they mean, but it’s still seems misleading.

Anyway, it’s a gorgeous jumper, and I’m quite tempted to see if I can find a colour match from Manos, as it’d be an easy knit I think.

Oh no worries!
I thought as Toast pop in here they might have changed it .
If you do please post a pic!

@mizu Ohhh, exciting. My closest shop is Harrogate. I suppose that’s a good job really. Let us know how you get on!

@Snowyowl78 Hurrah for the shirt! A bit shit they wouldn’t just send you the print.

@ToastCosILoveIt the pants came. I love them 🙈

So pleased you love them, tell me about the fit, please.

I ordered the kick flare organic indigo denim trousers today. i have had them in my basket for months and succumbed. I then ordered a pair of Escuyer Ribbed Cotton Socks. I wanted some chunky ones but they’re all sold out in size s/m.

I love the look of that space dyed jumper but oh my, the price is eye watering.

I don't post very often but do read daily. Visited my local Toast shop earlier this week and had a little try on. Ended up buying only the pea shoot cashmere cardigan. It's beautiful.

The pea shoot is a lovely colour @couldhavegonethen

Did anyone see the beautiful pictures of the jumpsuit on Toast York’s Instagram feed? Worn with the long scarf, looked fabulous.

They’re high waisted and gently hug everything before widening over the hips, they are wide leg but not clown like. The denim is fairly robust so they hold their shape without flapping about. I’m 5’5” and they just cover my foot.

I went and measured them:
Front rise 14” / Back rise 16”
Inside Leg 30”
Hem Width 12.5”

No1Mousie · 08/02/2024 08:55

@Alpacasoft ti loved the flecky Donegal so this was my ‘knock-off’, with Noro Medera yarn. The construction for the space dye jumper looks more straightforward, but t will need to scrutinise photos!

@Qweesh was it the Japanese flat front jeans - I’ve got those in my saved list they look lovely!

When they say the knitted piece is hand loomed, they probably refer to the sweater being knit by hand on a knitting loom - think about a long or round piece of wood with little pins on. Same principle as the plastic knitting rings that has been popular last few years for kids knitting scarves etc
Edited because I cannot spell...

Qweesh · 08/02/2024 09:37

@No1Mousie Yes, they’re lovely. I forgot to say in my previous post that I had bought an 18. I am quite tempted to buy another pair and stash them. They’re still in my wish list but their page has gone from the site. I’m not entirely sure why because they had pretty much all sizes in stock before the page went missing, anyway you can still buy them with the product code through CS.

Love your ‘knock off’ jumper. I recently started knitting and have been eyeing up the donegal knitted tank but I have decided to try doing it myself. Found a great Petite Knit pattern. Wish me luck!!!

No1Mousie · 08/02/2024 09:45

@Qweesh yes, they do look good.

I love the tank pattern!

It was a Petite knit pattern that I used for my knock-off Donegal. Her patterns are super, really well-written and easy to follow. Do post a photo of your tank once it’s finished.

Loving my favourite designers today and feeling better : TOAST cardigan/jacket from years ago (wish they would repeat kimono style) JUSTINE TABAK liberty print dress (I wear it and wear it ) Chie Mihara boots (risking the rain!)

How's the sizing on that pea shoot cardigan @couldhavegonethen ?
I have my eye on the carmine or maybe the ginger

Snowyowl78 · 08/02/2024 15:22

New stuff! I think it’s all nightwear though sadly.

couldhavegonethen · 08/02/2024 15:37

@canina I bought the xs. I'm a size 8/10.I think it's quite a generous fit. I preferred the sleeve length on the xs . Very tempted to get the ginger Melange .

couldhavegonethen · 08/02/2024 15:40

For clarity, the green is xs & the orangey one is an s tried on over an Oxford shirt .

canina · 08/02/2024 15:44

The XS looks plenty big enough, The orangey (red?) looks a bit long in the sleeve
I'm glad I asked as I might have ordered an M

canina · 08/02/2024 15:46

It's not scratchy is it?

couldhavegonethen · 08/02/2024 15:48

No not at all. It's very soft.

No1Mousie · 08/02/2024 16:38

I keep going back to look at this jacket, it looks lovely, especially the little stand collar. Does anyone have it and can comment on size and fit please? photos on a real person (if that makes sense!) would be wonderful too.

Dee1224 · 08/02/2024 16:49

@No1Mousie - I am very impressed by your jumper!

I went through a - very basic - knitting phase many years ago and managed a few tank tops and then baby cardigans. I must try again, but I think I have forgotten my very basic skills😿.

I was interested by the Kindred events advertised for next week in an email I got today. Not much notice given. Anybody going?

Snowyowl78 · 08/02/2024 16:56

@No1Mousie i have it- in both colours, was very lucky to find it on Vinted! Still paid a lot. The size is your normal toast size. I wear a 12 in trousers and a 10/12 in dresses usually a 12, and I have the slate one in the 12- perfect. I have the ecru one in a 10 which is a little bit small but still wearable. I think it’s called ‘neat’ but it is not small. Just not boxy and more straight.

Snowyowl78 · 08/02/2024 16:57

Ps. @No1Mousie i am too shy for pics but if you watch Vigil series 2 Rose thingy has it on most of the time! Pretty certain that’s it.
