@Firesideknitting which embroidered dress did you get from SM? The blue one with the yellow?
excited to see the jumpsuit! Mines in the post!

Terrible picture, but this one

Firesideknitting · 03/02/2024 08:24

@Countmeout erm it’s linen/cotton so definitely some weight to it, I’d be okay with it in summer, I will wear it as a stand alone top weather permitting

Snowyowl78 · 03/02/2024 08:25

@Firesideknitting Oh yes! I actually have that from a previous sale, I had it taken up as I am small.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 03/02/2024 08:37

I’ve got that dress too @Firesideknitting - the first time I wore it I spilt one of those annoying little tubs of milk all over myself, luckily it washed up really well.

sonjadog · 03/02/2024 09:46

That was interesting regarding for the apron dress works. I would never have guess that was it.

Can I ask some eBay/vinted/reselling advice….
I have a few Toast pieces which are listed on the fb page, eBay, and I just took a foray into selling on vinted and listed them there yesterday too. I have sold Toast items on eBay and the fb page previously, but these ones are not getting much love and I’m not sure why.
Perhaps I have priced them too high (though I always put them on eBay at a Buy it Now price and open to offers). I have seen people here talking about pricing to sell…can you give me thoughts/tips on this?
On the other hand, I think the pieces I have to sell are really lovely, and I baby my clothes so they are in really good condition compared to some of the preloved items I have bought from eBay & Vinted in the past, so I’m reluctant to let them go for rock bottom prices. And I would obviously like to be able to fund my next Toast purchases. 😆
One item I have to sell but haven’t listed on the fb page yet is the green silk floral scarf you have listed @faustina . I was waiting to let yours sell first, but I don’t think it has and I wonder why. It’s a beautiful piece.
Any thoughts on any of this rambling anyone? Thanks!

Snowyowl78 · 03/02/2024 12:45

@ScottishMouse people can offer up to 40% off so I wouldn’t price them too low people 99% things get sold on an offer so I would price slightly higher than you actually want to sell for. Psychologically everyone wants to think they’re getting a bargain so will be more pleased when they get their offer accepted. Shipping is separate so don’t factor that into your price.

MiracleToast · 03/02/2024 12:50

@ScottishMouse I have had success on vinted. I list around £15-20 higher than I would be happy to accept. This works well. Anyone who favourites an item I send an offer with about 10% off and go from there.

faustina · 03/02/2024 12:52

@ScottishMouse - I think mine might not be selling due to my indolence at not bumping. Also it's priced higher than the cotton bandanas so not a really really cheap item - though fairly priced I think . Ive bumped it and reduced slightly to hurry it along for you.

I do the same as you - buy it now and open to offers, and I always check previous sold prices to see what's fair - I've never used vinted to sell (always use Ebay and the FB group

I'm sometimes puzzled about why things sell or don't sell. I often think something like a jumpsuit, for example, can be hard to picture unless you can see an actual pic of someone wearing it? Hope you manage to sell your things!

ScottishMouse · 03/02/2024 13:02

Thanks guys. Think I am doing most of the things suggested here, though as I’m new to vinted I didn’t know k could send an offer when someone favourites my item. I’ll look at doing that now.
@faustina, please don’t feel pressure to reduce your scarf so I can list mine. I have it on eBay and vinted so hopefully it will sell from there.

MrsRadichio · 03/02/2024 13:57

Personally I find things shifting more slowly at the moment on eBay (the only platform I sell on). Maybe COL effects?

sonjadog · 03/02/2024 14:24

I always keep an eye on ebay and have bought some good stuff there, but one of the problems is that by the time I have paid the postage and customs, the price is the nearly the same as buying new from the shop. If I buy from the shop I have the potential to return it if it doesn't fit, while if I have bought it on ebay I am stuck with an item that I don't want and then have to work to get rid of. I understand that people want to get back pretty much what they have paid on items resold on ebay, but the lack of returns is a huge issue.

ScottishMouse · 03/02/2024 14:51

That’s a good point @sonjadog I have often not bought something on eBay because of the inability to return. It is possible to sellers to offer returns, but I have never done this as I have been stung in the past (twice) by people returning things that they claim are not as described when in fact they have damaged them and then made a claim.

faustina · 03/02/2024 15:04

I'd only buy on Vinted or Ebay if I were pretty sure it fitted me - with a brand like Toast I'd want to have tried it on in a shop first - and even then I'd ask for the measurements to double check.

Alpacasoft · 03/02/2024 15:50

I've sold quite a bit on Vinted.
My take on it is if I'm really not going to wear it again then in reality no matter what I've spent then it's worth to me is £0.
It can either sit there or I sell on quickly.

I price dresses around £60
Everything else £40-50
Accessories £30ish
New stuff/ same season higher but rarely have I made a mistake and sold something new

I made a small fortune last year and my wardrobe is much tidier.
Atm Vinted is saturated with really old Toast stuff which is really overpriced.
I wonder what is going to happen when it reaches saturation point?
Will they limit the time people keep stuff on there?
Ebay is ludicrously overpriced and often stock photos are used.

Countmeout · 03/02/2024 16:43

I have mostly stopped buying Toast on eBay or Vinted due to the sizing unless it is something I am now 100% should fit, generally having a same/ similar item. I also would rarely buy knitwear unless I am fairly certain it is in immaculate condition as far as possible. I think I’ve only bought knitwear once.
My ceiling price as a buyer is about £60 for a dress, slightly more for crepe if NWT and I really want it.
The knitwear piece was £50.
I haven’t sold any Toast yet as I’m afraid to let anything go.

I've just sold a TOAST dress for £45 on eBay.

Would have liked a bit more but hey.....I have sold quite a lot on eBay in the past but less now. And never on Vinted.

I do like buying on Vinted though and despite trying very hard to not spend at the moment check out what I bought a couple of weeks ago. The price!!!! The flaws were a couple of tiny holes in the cuffs which had been sewn up. Such a gorgeous colour.

I'm up in Edinburgh over half term visiting DD1 so will be taking a trip to TOAST there and trying on a few things for size.

FitzLea · 04/02/2024 08:25

I’ve tried to scroll back a few pages now, since I can’t remember who talked about the gathered waist crinkle cotton pinafore dress. I still can’t seem to find who it was, but I’m wondering about sizing. Is the sizing the same as the slate/excu version previously? That looks tight across the bust but if I get a size up I’m wondering if it’ll gape under the arms. I vaguely recall this same dilemma on here…

I’ve had to change my name as I had login issues, previously @PretLea.

Countmeout · 04/02/2024 08:57

I think it was me @FitzLea . I don’t know about the sizing of the previous version. I ordered M and L as I have a bust. I think reviews suggested it was smaller. ( I wear Toast 10-12 depending on style) I had tried the L on in store as that was what they had in store and thought I’d be keeping it but was curious to see how the M fitted. The L did gape under the arms. As I really like it as a sundress too I kept the M in the end.

Ah thanks @Countmeout it seems like it’s one of those items you need to order two sizes to try…

mizu · 04/02/2024 13:39

Does anyone have this coat? And is it super oversized?

Toasties enjoying our sale buys and springing into a new season
faustina · 04/02/2024 15:06

@mizu - yes I have that coat! It's really oversized everywhere except the sleeves which are more fitted (though still big, just not AS big as the rest). Mine is an XS. hope that helps

mizu · 04/02/2024 15:15

@faustina yes, that does help. This one is a M so I reckon it'll be too big.

I'm 5 ft 7" and a size 10-12. Would you mind telling me your height etc?

faustina · 04/02/2024 15:43

@mizu I'm 5'4 and size 8. You'd probably be better in a small than a medium

mizu · 04/02/2024 15:59

@faustina alas I think you are right, I think it'll be too big too. Thank you for the advice 🥰
