Blingy buttons
OTT logos
Embellishments like diamanté or pearls on things like tee shirts or jeans
Collars that look odd and don’t seem to go with the item of clothing.
Naff sayings/statements

OP posts:

Dry clean only tops.

Items with pleats or other embellishments that will need constant careful pressing to look decent.

Purplecatshopaholic · 03/01/2024 17:16

Manmade fabrics.

ThewaytoAmarula · 03/01/2024 17:16

Ready turned-up cuffs on trousers or sleeves just held in place with a stitch or two. They always go droopy very quickly and look cheap. I'd rather roll cuffs up myself.

muddyford · 03/01/2024 17:16

Tacky polyester bows on cotton knickers. M&S were the worst at this. Just why?!

CinnamonJellyBeans · 03/01/2024 17:17

Lack of pattern match, failing the crumple test, asymmetric hems, tops without darts.

I honestly don't hate acrylic/polyester for everyday clothing, so long as this is reflected in the price, as I find these fabrics easy to wash, low iron and durable.

StephanieSuperpowers · 03/01/2024 17:17

Dropped shoulders. They make the booby among us look very deconstructed.

Falkenburg · 03/01/2024 17:17

Anything that is distressed.

minipie · 03/01/2024 17:18

Tops and dresses with a low/gappy back so can’t be worn without a bra.

Trousers that are FAR too long. I expect to take things up (5’3) but if they’re 2 feet too long I can’t even tell what they would look like shortened.

Acrylic jumpers

Random embellishments/bling (karen millen often fails this)

Terrible colours like chartreuse and bright orange. Probably looks fab on olive or brown skin, not so much on pasty Brit.

Logos. Most slogans.

”Fun” prints.

blitzen · 03/01/2024 17:18

Frilly collar
Frilly cuffs
More frills

ginasevern · 03/01/2024 17:18

Everything you mention OP and also cut out bits on the back or front. I also hate the new wide trousers because I'm short and curcy and they make me look like Coco the Clown. Also anything with wool in it or anything even slightly scratchy/itchy because of my eczema which is a total pain in the arse.

Rosesroseseverywhere · 03/01/2024 17:20

This is not leaving us with much choice is it - might explain why I'm not buying anything either!!

minipie · 03/01/2024 17:20

blitzen · 03/01/2024 17:18

Frilly collar
Frilly cuffs
More frills

Agreed

See also ruffles, massive oversized sleeves and puffed shoulders.

LunaNorth · 03/01/2024 17:20

Decorative zips.
Studded areas, like the shoulders on a denim or leather jacket.
Ruched bits with drawstrings.
Frilly cuffs.
Square necks.
Fussy collars.

Violetparis · 03/01/2024 17:21

Low cut, I hate cleavages on display.

Bippertyboppertyboob · 03/01/2024 17:22

Animal prints - reminiscent of Bet Lynch
Diamanté/ sequins - see previous
Tops with the cut out shoulders.

Centwafer · 03/01/2024 17:22

Front pockets on shirts made for women with big boobs! I mean why?

Ditto front pockets on trousers of plus sized trousers!

Tent like tops that swing from the bust in plus sized clothing ranges. Again, why?

Sumner tops that are made from such thin material that you have to wear another top underneath which completely ruins the notion of a summer top!

Centwafer · 03/01/2024 17:24

Any sort of advertising or branding.

I don’t wish to be a walking advertisement thank you very much!

RandomUsernameHere · 03/01/2024 17:25

Anything floral

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 03/01/2024 17:27

Crappy fabrics, dry clean only every day items (usually washable but no recourse if issues and feels like a lazy way out), polyester (usually smells horrible within hours)

MRSMTO · 03/01/2024 17:27

Any jeans that are high waisted or baggy, loose, flared and boot leg! Anything 'girly' and delicate!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 03/01/2024 17:27

muddyford · 03/01/2024 17:16

Tacky polyester bows on cotton knickers. M&S were the worst at this. Just why?!

They are out on to make the front easily identifiable, as the label now goes in the side seam.

LemonyDrizzleCakes · 03/01/2024 17:28

Sequins or sparkle
Frills
Gold buttons
Unlined 'good' coats
Polyester (a skirt might be an exception)
Anything with cut-outs
Logos of any sort
Photos or images of any sort

StragglyTinsel · 03/01/2024 17:29

Animal print.

sleeves and arm holes that seem to be cut for someone with upper arms the width of your average toddler.

Hard to wash, which encompasses many things from dry clean only through to sequins.

Itchy material.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 03/01/2024 17:30

Back zips.

The claustrophobia from being caught in a dress with no give, choking slightly as my shoulder got stuck still terrifies me ten years later.

StragglyTinsel · 03/01/2024 17:31

I also hate slogans.

For some reason, the makers of children’s clothes seem especially keen on sticking slogans all over them.
