Blingy buttons
OTT logos
Embellishments like diamanté or pearls on things like tee shirts or jeans
Collars that look odd and don’t seem to go with the item of clothing.
Naff sayings/statements

Things like blouses that need a wash after each wear but are dry clean only. Happens a lot at Ted Baker.

Cottagecheeseisnotcheese · 03/01/2024 16:56

obvious patterns where the pattern is not matched
being a billboard for the manufacturer when they are not paying me
normal items that say dry clean only ( perfectly ok for a wool coat or suit not OK for a top or skirt)
pretend pockets
things poorly finished I do not want to buy a new garment and immediately have to re attach buttons... wobbly seams / hems pulled threads etc

mumsytoon · 03/01/2024 16:57

All of the above.
Designer brands that with huge logos that actually end up looking tacky.
Oversized clothing, just makes you look like you rolled out of bed and so untidy.
Cutout sleeves, our cutout parts in the chest area.
Balloon sleeves, strapless tops.

CharlotteSometimes1 · 03/01/2024 16:59

Polyester

tobee · 03/01/2024 17:01

Items that have a sparkly thread for no reason. Just a bit sparkly like a jumper. This is very much a Next brand thing.

Crackery · 03/01/2024 17:02

Dry clean only

PickAChew · 03/01/2024 17:02

Agree with poor pattern matching. Especially in pricier stuff. It's no longer just the preserve of primark and the like.

Shoddy stitching.

Synthetics without a good reason for being synthetic.

Anything that claims to be "perfect fit" as that is impossible due to us all being different shapes.

Britpopbaby · 03/01/2024 17:03

@Lovetotravel123 Snap. Dry clean only washing details completely put me off. The only time I take a chance is when I have bought something from a charity shop.

I wish websites would have a filter on them for care instructions, so I could filter out items that are dry clean only. It’s not an issue for a coat or something that only gets cleaned once a year, but I’m never going to spend money and time dry cleaning items like sweaters between every single wear. It seems like others feel the same, because I always see loads of dry clean items in the sale, and the machine washable sweaters always sell out.

Isthatarealname · 03/01/2024 17:04

I'll add polyester when it's not relative to price point (you expect it from river island etc but not Reiss)
Blazers with the sleeves that have them rolled up permanently with that bit of fabric that holds them up... too niche?

familyissues12345 · 03/01/2024 17:05

Pockets on the chest - I don't need my boobs looking any bigger than they do

Words on clothes

Clothes that are going to look hideous without a good iron - I'm far too lazy

BreakfastOfWaffles · 03/01/2024 17:06

I should have learnt by now not to get excited too early, but mine is seeing something that looks lovely only to discover it has acrylic in it (which I can't wear) or it's unlined.

Jasmin1971 · 03/01/2024 17:07

Animal print of any kind
Bling
Cropped anything

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 03/01/2024 17:07

Agree with logos, motifs, anything that fails the hand crumple test (where you scrunch up the fabric and when released stays a mess!), stripes and checks not matching, pockets you cannot reach with your hands (some require you to dislocate your shoulders to do so), back zips / odd located side zips unless you can pull the item over your head, frills and ruffles, poor quality fabrics that shine! I can replace buttons, often cut off chest pockets (why are they there at all) on shirts and jackets and even remove the odd piece of bling, if easy to do so and the item is good without it.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 03/01/2024 17:07

Weird cut-away parts
Random frills or peplums
Asymmetric hem
Actually anything asymmetrical
"made with EcoVera lenzing" or other shit fabric with the price tag of a good fabric
Unlined coats or jackets
Daily wear items that can't be washed
Fails to account for existence of breasts
Looks like it can be melted
Shiny fake gold buttons

I'm not buying much these days tbh!

Talipesmum · 03/01/2024 17:07

Surprise cutouts

Puffy shoulders - I do not need any extra curves adding thank you!

Overly cropped (lovely on young things with waists they can show in public but not for me!)

Nasty material

DyslexicPoster · 03/01/2024 17:08

Buttons on dresses. No good for the bigger of boob. Also even when a teen they just seemed to come undone!

Anything that has to be ironed. Life's to short

Devilsmommy · 03/01/2024 17:09

Any cropped tops or any high waisted trousers/jeans

Rainbowshit · 03/01/2024 17:12

Cut outs! You see a nice dress but it's unwearable because of the cut out.

valorie · 03/01/2024 17:12

Pintucks
Decorative buttons on jumpers that do nothing (usually on shoulders and cuffs)

thatlondonchic · 03/01/2024 17:12

Anything that isn't stretchy.. can't be arsed trying to spend ten or more minutes squeezing my bits into certain clothing only to then be really uncomfortable for the rest of the day. No thanks

yutu · 03/01/2024 17:13

For me

anything that has obvious logos or text

anything strippy

dresses or tops that have shirt collars and buttons

SerenityNowInsanityLater · 03/01/2024 17:13

Bad material, i.e 100% acrylic jumper being flogged at a 100% wool price.
Dry clean only.

JenniferandJuniper · 03/01/2024 17:14

Balloon sleeves
Elastic on the bottom of tops
Back zips
High necks
Heavy jumpers/cardigans

Grimmz · 03/01/2024 17:14

Batwing sleeves
Any kind of asymmetry
Wrap dresses
Sweetheart necklines
Pointless decorative zippers or pockets
Acrylic, polyester, pleather, etc.
