Hi,

So obviously I'll start. Was quite disappointed to see that the YSL Youth Liberator foundation, which I really loved, is being/has been discontinued. Story of my life! Every time I find my go to product (usually beauty) they always get discontinued!

Anyway, I've just recieved the Armani Luminous Silk and it's really gorgeous 😍 I know it's expensive, but I'm quite used to being disappointed and not usually getting what you pay for, but this really is, well....bloody good 😂 Also managed to find the perfect shade match, which is hit and miss when you're buying online.

Now to hear the news it's being discontinued in the new year 🤣

So what are your best beauty finds, which have surprised you?

I have the shittist of shit lashes and no mascara makes any difference.

Tried lash serum a few years ago which had pretty miraculous results but also a year in i started getting irritation which funnily enough started to ease once I stopped using the stuff.

So I'm mourning the loss of finally having decent lashes when I see an eye lash curler in Flying Tiger (I know, I know Confused) and have a go. Results are ok but not amazing. Look at a few YouTube tutorials and change technique slightly and although not as good as the ones the serum gave me, I finally have lashes!!! Need mascara still but that's no worry.

So I've decided to treat myself to a decent pair of eye lash curlers in the new year so any recommendations gratefully received (bonus if I can buy in boots with my advantage points)

That's interesting about the Armani. Was really interested but then changed my mind bought a Beauty Pie one instead to save money but the shade a bit shit. I will prob invest in the New Year. How did you decide on the shade?

My fav find of the year was the Releaf moisturiser from Tropic. I've acquired an allergy to something that's in loads of skin/hair stuff and get dermatitis/rosacea and can't use loads of products now. As a last resort and after spending £££ to find a moisturiser that actually worked and reduced redness I tried this. I'm not a fan of Tropic usually, I find it expensive as it runs out quickly, but this stuff is actually magic and my skin is back to normal. Along with the Altruist sun face fluid- its cheap and magic.

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz congratulations on the eyelashes! 👏😆

Tweezerman eyelash curler is the best for me.

Thanks I'll look at that brand again ... thank did see them in sainsburys today and was a bit Confused at the £17 price tag but if it's going to be a good one, I'll spend a bit.

Emeralds23 · 20/12/2023 14:01

@DeclineandFall I used YouTube. Apparently the shades are a little misleading, in terms of numbers and the order, so you definitely need to do your research. I'm fair with pink undertones and 3.75 is perfect for me. Look Fantastics suggestion was 4.75, but it would have been way too dark.

Loreal infallible matt foundation. I bought it in an emergency from Asda for a tenner. But its one of the best foundations I've ever used. I have really greasy skin and never known a foundation to stop the shine so well.

Dermatonics Manuka honey foot cream is the only foot cream that I've found that sorts out my hobbit feet.

Emeralds23 · 20/12/2023 14:02

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz they last forever, so if you can stretch to it, it's definitely worth it.

I'm loving my Il Makiage foundation. I did not think they could match my skin shade so well. It's pretty perfect.

Britpopbaby · 20/12/2023 14:12

Chanel teint foundation. It’s expensive full price but I bought it on a deal and hopefully I will be able to get it on a deal when it runs out. Easy to apply with fingers and isn’t mask like. I still feel me in it.

Chenal cream bronzer. A considered purchase but a little goes a long way and the Chanel SAs were more than happy to try it on me.

shallihaveago · 20/12/2023 14:22

Agree re luminous silk - it's lovely. A good dupe (although slightly heavier coverage) is the Rimmel lasting finish - great foundation at a really good price.

Charlotte tilbury fixing spray is lovely, works and doesn't mattify make up.

I need a lash serum that works, and nail varnish that doesn't chip/peel (oily nailbeds), if anyone has recommendations please shout!

nobodywantstobeme · 20/12/2023 14:26

Pantene Hair Biology Cleanse and Reconstruct shampoo. Manages to degrease my oily roots but leaves the dry, frizzy lengths glossy and hydrated. Has done the same for my teens' hair too and leaves it smelling lovely.

TheOGCCL · 20/12/2023 14:58

Hair
Neutrogena T-Gel anti dandruff for oily hair. If your dandruff is bacteria related.
Superdrug Colour effects wash in wash out conditioning colour. If your hair is some shade of bronde/brunette or has a bit of grey.

Skin
Cerave PM moisturiser. Forgot how good this is on oily and ageing skin. I use it AM too.

Make up
Rare Beauty cream blush. So pigmented but I kind of like the just got off a ski slope look.
Nars radiance tinted moisturiser. Particularly good if you have pale skin with a warm undertone
Nars creamy concealer. Quite possibly the best make up product ever. Again if the shade range works
Rimmel wondercloud cream eyeshadows

Body
Loccitane bar soap
Loccitane Lavender bath foam

MissyB1 · 20/12/2023 15:12

Clinique chubby stick eyeshadow and the chubby stick lip colour. Sooo easy and such good long lasting colours.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 20/12/2023 15:28

Revlon ultimate suede lipstick. Which I have worn for years, stays the course (often til the next morning) and they're bloody discontinuing it! Any suggestions??

Alchemistress · 20/12/2023 15:49

Fenty foundation - found a great colour match which just evens my skin out.

Fenty eye shadow sticks - there's a mushroom colour which is perfect for me as I don't really do heavy colour. It also Does.Not.Budge.

Collection's dupe of Chanel cream bronzer is actually pretty decent - I've got both and there's not a huge difference.

Their bronzer in the squeezy tube with a foam applicator is also excellent- I use it for contour.

Elizabeth Arden retinol and HPR ceramide cream is excellent , but quite expensive. However it makes my skin look nice without peeling, which I couldn't get right with Dermatica.

The Ordinary Niacinamide serum and Azaleic acid cream have done wonders for evening out my skin tone and got rid of some hyperpigmentation.

Maybelline Lifter lipgloss. Actually stays on with great colour payoff.

Aldi Wow Hair dupes -I stocked up!

Things that have gone in the bin/ passed on:
Clinique Even Better serum foundation.
No7 mascara- gave me panda eyes every single time
Jones Road balm - not sure what I was expecting from it but it's fairly useless.

FluffActually · 20/12/2023 16:19

Came on to post Armani LSF only to learn about the discontinuation. WTF noooooo 😢

Adding Laneige overnight lip mask.

hopeishere · 20/12/2023 16:28

Also came or post about Armani and gutted to hear it's to be discontinued!!

Emma Hardie Vitamin C serum makes me look alive. And hourglass ambient powder.

fubared · 20/12/2023 16:32

Tocobo Bio Watery SPF cream. The only spf that doesn't leave a white cast and doesn't sting my eyes

CorneliaStreet · 20/12/2023 16:40

Farmacy Green Clean balm cleanser. Gets all make up off with no effort and washes off completely so no need for a double cleanse if you don’t want to.

Murad AHA/BHA cleanser - leaves my skin incredibly soft, you only need to use it a couple of times a week and comes in a big tube. The RRP is expensive but it pops up in kits and beauty boxes frequently so you can get it for far less.

Cosrx Snail 96 essence. Sounds gross but feels so hydrating and soothing on the skin.

Beauty of Joseon rice relief sunscreen. Just feels like a really nice moisturiser and absorbs completely. Leaves my skin a bit glowy but not full on shiny.

Also another vote for the Laniege lip sleeping mask.

itsnothingoriginal · 20/12/2023 18:47

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz yes to Tweezerman lash curlers - the best!

I wondered if you'd tried The Ordinary lash serum? It's working wonders on my eyelashes and brows and no irritation for me.

My other beauty win this year is La Roche posay niacinamide serum (amazing stuff for skin tone and stopping spots before they've started)

Make up wise I've repeat purchased L'Oréal Sky High mascara which hasn't given me any irritation or panda eyes and much cheaper than the Clinique one I was using previously.

Unfortunately for my bank balance I also discovered Pat McGrath eyeshadow which is incredible stuff but £££ Finally treated myself to a palette in the Black Friday sales.

minipie · 20/12/2023 18:58

Marking place! Especially interested in the niacinamide/azaleic acid and any brow serums.

Agree with the NARS radiant creamy concealer recommendation above - after 30 years with resistant acne I have tried a LOT of concealers and this one keeps winning for pigment level, shade range, blendability/moisture and staying power. Excellent stuff.

I will nominate Erborian CC creme (silver tube). Very subtle, doesn’t look like make up, I just look better.

And Olaplex 8. Only conditioner that actually does anything noticeable for my thin dry hair.

Jewelanemone · 20/12/2023 18:58

Revitalash eyelash serum and some Tweezerman curlers.

My eyelashes are fabulous for the first time in my life! 👁️

biedrona · 20/12/2023 21:29

Armani's LSF is not being discountinued!!!!

MaidOfSteel · 20/12/2023 21:34

UK Lash eyelash serum. Recommended by my sister. I've been using it for 3 months and can really see a difference. My lashes are looking much thicker. I'm very 😊

I've recently started using Embryolisse Lait-Creme Fluid multi-purpose moisturiser. Not at all greasy, sinks in quick and I find it very effective on my face & neck. I've also had none of the 'pilling' you sometimes get when also using a serum or essence.

Ginmonkeyagain · 20/12/2023 21:41

&Stories Paris Atelier lipstick. Deep colour, non drying and goes on smoothly
