Hi,

So obviously I'll start. Was quite disappointed to see that the YSL Youth Liberator foundation, which I really loved, is being/has been discontinued. Story of my life! Every time I find my go to product (usually beauty) they always get discontinued!

Anyway, I've just recieved the Armani Luminous Silk and it's really gorgeous 😍 I know it's expensive, but I'm quite used to being disappointed and not usually getting what you pay for, but this really is, well....bloody good 😂 Also managed to find the perfect shade match, which is hit and miss when you're buying online.

Now to hear the news it's being discontinued in the new year 🤣

So what are your best beauty finds, which have surprised you?

Big vote for embryoiloisse moisturiser & also isle of paradise tanning drops.

LOVE kiko lasting precision eyeliners too. And ABH palettes - modern renaissance & soft glam.

I'm after a good brown mascara - my best ever mascara is chantecaille but it doesn't come
In brown & I could spend £70 on a mascara anyway, but I love the wee ones from advents & beauty boxes

I love Chantecaille mascara enough to pay full price for it and my brown mascara of choice is Max Factor 2000 Calorie, it comes in navy too. I have both.

LOVE this.

Phillip Kingsley Swimcap for sea water, pools and UV protection. I had it in a discovery box and tried it on the LOs (very long) hair for swimming in school, and it was really good. So I shelled out on a new tube for our summer holiday in August, to use on my highlighted, coloured, curly, perimenopausal hair - it's bloody amazing!

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 01/01/2024 20:06

@hopeishere @FluffActually
i dont think it is being discontinued- the OP is saying now that she’s got it that it will probably get discontinued

Singinghollybob · 01/01/2024 20:33

I've just bought Voctoria Beckham Vast Lash mascara and I really like it.

Just people talking about tubing mascara- the no7 one lasts the whole day of a runny about retail job BUT I take an eyelash with me every time I clean it off 😭 So love it but it really isn’t good for me- am back to my le Roche posay- really conditioning but gone by 11 in the morning!!!

Have you tried Max Factor Masterpiece MAX Volumising Mascara? Last all day for me with no running, comes off easily too

dullandgrey · 01/01/2024 21:02

@buckeejit this looks great. Would you say it's good for quite pale skin?

stayathomer · 02/01/2024 11:37

Icelandic9
Thanks a mil, will give it a go!!

buckeejit · 02/01/2024 16:52

@dullandgrey yes I'm pale & it gives me a warm glow rather than the orange I often feel with many bronzers.

I got it in a beauty box but just checked & it's £20ish so not too bad at all!

dullandgrey · 02/01/2024 20:09

@buckeejit thanks. Will give it a try!

Living Proof dry shampoo. I got it on offer as part of a package, thinking it would be a treat but then I'd go back to Batiste. It's so much better! No grey cast, hair doesn't look or feel powdery. I'm a convert (by bank balance will just have to cope).

Have you tried the Klorane one? If so I wonder is this even better. Probably not.

Unfortunately my teens use my Klorane and now think that's how dry shampoo should be 😆

I might try this one but hide it from them...

AlbertCampion · 02/01/2024 23:50

YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer. Makes foundation just glide on and look radiant. Love it.

Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation - I was gifted this and can't find it anywhere so am presuming it has been discontinued. If anyone knows of an identical substitute I'd be very grateful.

ThatWardrobe · 12/01/2024 20:35

If you have dry skin, the Sculpted By Aimee Connolly Hydrating Sheet Masks are amazing, and there's always loads of serum left in the packet (which I squeeze into a jar and use after!).

No7 Extreme Length Waterproof Mascara works so well if you have watery eyes. I had years of panda eyes before using this.

I've just bought The Ordinary lash serum off the back of this thread and screenshot about ten other things. Thanks for the inspiration!

La Roche Posay do a great brown mascara that doesn’t clump.
My own home made, silicone free Co wash and conditioner for my dry wavy hair, plus a diffuser to dry has made all the difference. I buy the ingredients online and knock it up in my kitchen in about 1/2 an hour, cost= a few pence per bottle.

Thelifeofawife · 17/01/2024 14:43

@AlbertCampion Does the YSL primer have a scent to it? I bought recently after deciding to upgrade my make up, but I find it has a scent which I was surprised about. Not sure if it’s just like this or if it’s a bit off?

Thelifeofawife · 17/01/2024 14:50

For those who use L’Oreal true match foundation, what base do you use?
I bought recently after seeing it recommended but I’m finding it really highlights my lines/wrinkles. It’s a shame because I got a good colour match and I love how it feels on my skin

Mirabai · 17/01/2024 15:35

Caudalie especially Vinoperfect

Caudalie is a great brand. I highly recommend their Purifiying Mask and Moisturising Mask.

I also wear their Fleur de Vignes eau de toilette for every day.

AlbertCampion · 21/01/2024 21:36

@Thelifeofawife I've never noticed mine smelling at all. My sense of smell has been a bit screwy since Covid, mind you!

WishesPromises · 21/01/2024 21:57

Trinny lip glow is perfect for me, but I wish it was in a tube.

Victoria Beckham Kajal eye pencils are outstanding.

Nivea soft cream is not exciting but a great all purpose lotion.

Dove soap is perfect chucked into a suitcase for holidays.

Mytholmroyd · 21/01/2024 22:01

I have started adding my liquid foundation to my moisturiser and it has made a huge difference to the finish! I was really struggling to get a good finish anymore with il makiage/lift and luminate etc

myfarmilyandotheranimals · 24/09/2024 19:22

Gimicky products like the black tea detox mask shown on Pinterest - do they work?

LaCerbiatta · 24/09/2024 20:37

OrangeSofa1 · 20/12/2023 21:58

Hourglass eyeshadow. A subtle glitter dry neutral swipe. The only thing I’ve had lots of compliments about, lasts all day, and bought in different shades.
Quite like my Jones Road blusher stick thing. I’ll be sad when it runs out.

Do you mean the sticks?

AngryLikeHades · 24/09/2024 20:48

They have been having problems with their packaging making the product dry out, but when it works, 'Lottie London superfake mascara' is very good. Order with caution because I've had to have replacement products sent out due to the lids crumbling and the air getting in.

ShadesOfPemberley · 24/09/2024 20:48

Hourglass Veil, it’s £££ but incredible. I don’t use foundation, only tinted moisturisers, and this one makes my skin look instantly fresher and more luminous but also just sort of melts/fades into the skin so you don’t even know it’s there. It’s brilliant.

just bought a Kosas powder blusher as recc’d by India Knight and it’s amazing.

I’m usually a skincare person more than a makeup person but I’m trying to get more into light makeup as I get older and love both of these discoveries…!!

How were you removing the tubing mascara? It usually doesn't lift easily with an eye makeup remover as it's meant to be removed with warm water, either soaking a cotton pad or flannel and holding it on your eye will remove it with ease.

I agree, but want to add, wet your cotton or flannel with warm water, place it on the eye and HOLD for 30 seconds or so, so that it has time to work
