Hi,

So obviously I'll start. Was quite disappointed to see that the YSL Youth Liberator foundation, which I really loved, is being/has been discontinued. Story of my life! Every time I find my go to product (usually beauty) they always get discontinued!

Anyway, I've just recieved the Armani Luminous Silk and it's really gorgeous 😍 I know it's expensive, but I'm quite used to being disappointed and not usually getting what you pay for, but this really is, well....bloody good 😂 Also managed to find the perfect shade match, which is hit and miss when you're buying online.

Now to hear the news it's being discontinued in the new year 🤣

So what are your best beauty finds, which have surprised you?

Deviant skincare essential Hydration Serum just lovely.

Kri bakuchiol oil.

Vieve skin nova, absolute game changer under ELDW

E.L.F Lash and Roll mascara.

OrangeSofa1 · 20/12/2023 21:58

Hourglass eyeshadow. A subtle glitter dry neutral swipe. The only thing I’ve had lots of compliments about, lasts all day, and bought in different shades.
Quite like my Jones Road blusher stick thing. I’ll be sad when it runs out.

Just tried the victoria Beckham eyeliner and I gave been very impressed. Very creamy and smudges well.

MyFirstLittlePony · 20/12/2023 22:22

Fenty lip gloss, the heat one

Gives very plump shiny lips

Gnomegarden32 · 20/12/2023 22:56

LSF discontinued??? Surely not! 😱

Farmageddon · 20/12/2023 23:09

OP where did you hear that Luminous Silk is being discontinued? It's a huge seller for the brand (loads of make up artists use it).

I'd be gutted as I only discovered it a few years ago, and like you the shade match is really good. If it's true I may have to stockpile a few bottles..

Hourglass ambient powders

Corsx BHA

Weleda skin food

BigBouncyBaubles · 20/12/2023 23:19

OP isn't saying that Luminous Silk is being discontinued.

'Now to hear the news it's being discontinued in the new year'

I read that as her saying it would be just her luck, after finding a product she adores, to discover it was being discontinued. Because as she says at the start of her post that is quite often the case for her.

Remain calm, peeps, Luminous Silk is safe!

MerryMidwinter · 20/12/2023 23:56

Seconding Erborian, it’s perfect for no make-up days when you just want to look a little bit fresher but not too ‘done’.

Literally saw the thread title in active and thought “oh I’ll go on and comment about the Armani LSF I’ve just started using”

Now need urgent confirmation from @Emeralds23 - is it being discontinued or not!!!

My own add is Skin and Me. My skin looks great (ish, it’s always been crap but is less so after 6 months).

Verite1 · 21/12/2023 00:17

Hourglass ambient powder
by terry mascara.

acidbrass · 21/12/2023 01:30

Lanolips ointment - incredibly effective for chapped sore lips, and rapid acting too!

Time40 · 21/12/2023 03:45

nail varnish that doesn't chip/peel (oily nailbeds), if anyone has recommendations please shout!

@shallihaveago Maybelline Super Stay 7 Day. Brilliant stuff. Chipless day after day - it even survives going swimming, which does for most nail varnish. I know nothing about oily nailbeds, though, so I can't swear it would be good for those.

I'm loving my Il Makiage foundation. I did not think they could match my skin shade so well. It's pretty perfect.

I like it (just received a week ago) but find it dry; it accentuates fine lines and wrinkles.

Essie couture nail varnish and top coat is brilliant- only varnish I've found that doesn't chip after a day!

Neil’s Yard Wild Rose Beauty balm. I was given a NY voucher for my birthday and had never bought anything from there before, so just picked this from their bestsellers section. My skin’s never been better, and the pot’s lasted ages as a little goes a long way.

Loreal infallible matt foundation. I bought it in an emergency from Asda for a tenner. But its one of the best foundations I've ever used. I have really greasy skin and never known a foundation to stop the shine so well.

Dermatonics Manuka honey foot cream is the only foot cream that I've found that sorts out my hobbit feet.

I might have to try this, I need a cheaper alternative to Double Wear which is eye wateringly expensive but the only foundation that stays on my oily nose and doesn't look shit 😭

thefallen · 21/12/2023 07:42

Living Proof dry shampoo. I got it on offer as part of a package, thinking it would be a treat but then I'd go back to Batiste. It's so much better! No grey cast, hair doesn't look or feel powdery. I'm a convert (by bank balance will just have to cope).

icelollycraving · 21/12/2023 07:47

Best lash curlers are Kevyn Aucoin as a larger area so gentler imo.

I have fairly oily skin so maybe that helps in my case! I like the light coverage. I don't actually wear foundation that often so I like it just smooths my skin out a bit. I do find I have to put on moisturiser first, but I would do that with any foundation.

You can send it back for a full refund - they say you can send the foundation back in any condition!

Almahart · 21/12/2023 09:00

Armani luminous silk foundation here too.

Also Living Proof dry shampoo, lovely stuff.

Emeralds23 · 21/12/2023 09:16

Ah, sorry! I can see how that could have been read differently. No, as far as I know, Luminous Silk isn't being discontinued 👍

Another fan of LSF here. The only foundation that does not pill on my skin.
Would also add Benefit Bo-ing concealer, make-up wise.
Omorovcza (?) Thermal Cleansing Balm and Silver Saviour mask are magic skincare (though they’d better be at that price!) Kate Somerville Exfolikate is brilliant at making your skin look brighter. Also not cheap, but Look Fantastic/Sephora/Cult Beauty often have brilliant discounts.
La Roche Posay serozinc is a fantastic toner for sensitive skin a bit prone to spots.
