Hi,

So obviously I'll start. Was quite disappointed to see that the YSL Youth Liberator foundation, which I really loved, is being/has been discontinued. Story of my life! Every time I find my go to product (usually beauty) they always get discontinued!

Anyway, I've just recieved the Armani Luminous Silk and it's really gorgeous 😍 I know it's expensive, but I'm quite used to being disappointed and not usually getting what you pay for, but this really is, well....bloody good 😂 Also managed to find the perfect shade match, which is hit and miss when you're buying online.

Now to hear the news it's being discontinued in the new year 🤣

So what are your best beauty finds, which have surprised you?

Someone already mentioned farmacy green clean but that is my absolutely favourite product. Pricey but clea s so well and I love the smell.

Left field one here - bio oil is the nicest bath oil ever. A squirt in the bath and I come out feeling smooth and all over moisterised.

I have been using the new bourjois double balm mascara and its really good.

Do lash serums really work? I have pathetic and useless eyebrows so maybe I should try one of the ones recommended on here....

I also loved the Ordinary vitamin c in silicone - found it smoothed my skin beautifully but I can't buy it anywhere so think it's discontinued.

Clarins smoothing face peel is brilliant. I tend to only use it about once a month but should do it weekly. My skin looks fabulous after and make up looks amazing.

Take care with lash serum as I was happily using one for over a year and good god my lashes became amazing. As in so long they were bashing on my glasses Grin I bloody loved them

I started to develop blepharitis and stop using the serum and almost immediately my symptom cleared up. They work by interrupting your natural lash growth cycle so continue growing when they should fall out and it seems this action was irritating my lash line and causing issues.

However many people are fine, just keep an eye out (BOOM Seer what I did there!) Grin

I've been using Revitalash every single night for nearly a year now. My lashes have gone from short and straight to long and fluttery - I honestly can't believe the difference it's made! Buy it on eBay as it's horribly expensive.

I initially loved this product but after a month or so of use my skin started to look rough and textured. The Farmacy cleanser had been the only new addition to my routine so I removed it and thankfully my skin went back to normal fairly quickly.

AnUnreasonableWoman · 24/12/2023 09:53

Yes, I had great results with Revitalash but after a few months, I noticed patches of white pigment appearing on my eyelids. So I stopped!

There’s a small skincare brand that makes sound products with scientifically proven active ingredients that I really love.

It’s called Geek and Gorgeous. I use their retinal and their Happier Barrier moisturiser. Have their Vit C serum but not started it yet. All really reasonably priced too.

Skin and me has changed my skin from chin acne prone to barely ever get a spot

Bonbon249 · 26/12/2023 09:03

Gonna out myself as really cheap here but I use Lidl's own brand (Cien) moisturiser with Q10. I find it's light and not greasy and their hand cream with Q10 is also good. At £1.49 & 89p respectively, they absolutely do not break the bank!

Onirique · 26/12/2023 09:06

I bought some M. Asam Magic Finish foundation from a plane duty free on a bit of a whim and it’s amazing. There was a tube of cream and a tub of moussey stuff. Both do pretty much same job so I don’t have a preference. Lovely coverage, gives a near flawless finish without looking overbaked.

Victoria3010 · 26/12/2023 09:08

Il makiage woke up like this foundation shade matching is great and I like the formula. I also got the glow recipe watermelon dew drops which is a niacinamide serum and it's lovely and smells delicious (not too strong or artificial).

Upwiththelark76 · 26/12/2023 09:19

Nars naturally radiant foundation makes my skin look amazing

Nars liquid blush in orgasm

Trinny eye shadow cream . Just smudge across lid with finger and good to go

Elemis balm the only thing il use to take my make up off and it lasts for ages

supadupapupascupa · 26/12/2023 09:28

My favs are ByTerry baume de rose, a really lovely lip balm with a pretty shimmer. Smells amazing too.
Estée Lauder night cream and day cream. Honestly not found better. Also swear by the night serum.
I found an LSF (Armani) dupe in The Times this year and it's AMAZING L'Oréal true match! And it's cheap! Told my sister and she loves it too,
I adore Mac glow play blush. A cream blush but talcy soft. It's weird. Try it!

DramaQueen1970 · 26/12/2023 09:35

Having worked in glamorous reception jobs in my youth and only purchasing premium beauty brands, I love not having to wear a full face of make-up with a red lip anymore !
Skin is far more important to me these days. I had a part-time job in Boots when my girls were little and still swear by No.7 which I have been using for years. I have a friend who has developed her own natural range called Nude Goose and I wear that on occasion too.
If I HAVE to wear make-up it is more than likely a tinted moisturiser. My latest discovery is Lottie London mascara which is fabulous x

OhYeahOhYeah · 26/12/2023 09:48

Drunk Elephant Sakuri Baby Facial is great for pores and overall skin smoothness

Bioderma Atoderm shower oil is amazing for dry or sensitive skin

PegasusReturns · 26/12/2023 10:39

Kerestase Bain divalent

a Charlotte tilbury foundation brush which is amazing!

M&S ultimate sleep cream transforms my skin in a way no other serum does (except perhaps the Elemis pro collagen which is almost 10x the price)

PegasusReturns · 26/12/2023 10:41

@DramaQueen1970 also swear by no 7 foundation. I think I’ve probably used every high end foundation out their but always come back to lift and luminate

ThatMiddleClassFood · 26/12/2023 11:36

I have a few that have already been mentioned and couple that haven't.
Murad aha/bha cleanser pricey but lasts ages I only buy twice a year and I use it 3 times a week.

Weleda skin food for my super dry skin

Cosrx snail 96 mucin

Lanolips or lasinoh nipple cream

Dreamweave lash construct mascara - works wonders on my teeny tiny lashes

Ren ready steady flow toner

Amber solaire anti dryness sunscreen although it's become trickier to get so I feel may have been discontinued. Their anti age sunscreen is also good but I find I get piling if I don't leave my serums to soak in enough which isn't a problem with the anti dryness version.

paddlinglikecrazy · 26/12/2023 12:47

Love my IL Makiage foundation. Perfect colour match online.

Another vote for the M and S sleep cream. I do wake up looking smoother - although it can’t do anything for the bags under my eyes (two under three…).

Cerave face wash is my ‘gosh that’s actually well good’ product. I have very sensitive skin which has been irritated by so many expensive products supposedly formulated for sensitive skin. This no nonsense green and white pump action bottle is excellent, my skin feels refreshed and clean but not tight.

lto2019 · 26/12/2023 14:11

Trinny BFF - glowy coverage.
Il Makiage foundation - don't use it all over but just in areas need a little heavier coverage than BFF
Victoria Beckham kajal eyeliner - possibly the best thing ever invented - totally love them.
The Ordinary oils - like a lot of them Borage (which a lot seem to dislike because of the smell)Sea Buckthorne - bright red - only use it at night. Very inexpensive.
Tropic supergreen oil - lasted ages.

Nestnearlyempty · 26/12/2023 14:26

Another vote for L’Oréal True Match and their online shade finder did a great match for my skin.

LightOfAThousandStars · 26/12/2023 14:56

L'oreal million lashes mascara, lovely and not very expensive.

Paula's Choice BHA toner, used a few times a week and keeps skin clear.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Papaya Hair Food Hair Mask, makes my hair super soft every time.

FizzyLaser · 26/12/2023 15:00

Those luxe tan drops
vitamin c serum the loreal one
seven second water or whatever

FizzyLaser · 26/12/2023 15:00

I find the Beckham eyeliners run

Mirabai · 26/12/2023 15:11

Dior or Lancôme foundation, (tried YSL, Chanel, NARS etc), Lancôme Hypnose waterproof mascara, Clarins perfecting touch primer and Chanel Poudre Universelle.
