Hi,

So obviously I'll start. Was quite disappointed to see that the YSL Youth Liberator foundation, which I really loved, is being/has been discontinued. Story of my life! Every time I find my go to product (usually beauty) they always get discontinued!

Anyway, I've just recieved the Armani Luminous Silk and it's really gorgeous 😍 I know it's expensive, but I'm quite used to being disappointed and not usually getting what you pay for, but this really is, well....bloody good 😂 Also managed to find the perfect shade match, which is hit and miss when you're buying online.

Now to hear the news it's being discontinued in the new year 🤣

So what are your best beauty finds, which have surprised you?

@saturnspinkhoop The dry hair cut being referred to is called a Deva (Diva?) cut? You should look for a salon where they have stylists who’ve been trained in this - it’s a specific approach to curly hair. I’ve had it for years

MISSHA bb cream - it's more like a foundation, melts into skin beautifully, not cakey, slightly dewy, decent spf.
Avene Dry Touch spf50 - this is what I use as a day cream, I am a bit obsessed with sun protection and wear spf all year round. No cast, sits well under makeup.
L'Oréal million lashes mascara.
The Ordinary squalene cleanser - melts make up and spf with no problem, skin is clean without feeling tight. I double cleanse so follow with Cerave cleanser for dry skin. The Ordinary niacinamide serum, hyaluronic acid serum, retinol, pink barrier serum, exfoliating aha/bha serum - I use all of them on rotation. Pixi glow toner when I don't use above exfoliating serum.

Urban Decay All-Nighter fixing spray 👌
Porefessional by Benefit.
Rollerlash by Benefit.
Lanera foundation has really, really grown on me.
My Primark £1.50 red lipstick has been fantastic for the festive season! Not as heavily pigmented as others, so you have to build the coverage. However this is no bad thing when it's red, as heavy-handed mistakes are harder to rectify.

Came on to post Armani LSF only to learn about the discontinuation. WTF noooooo 😢

Adding Laneige overnight lip mask.

My daughters swear by this lip mask, in particular my daughter whose lips have been super dry this winter due to illness.

buckeejit · 27/12/2023 10:58

Big vote for embryoiloisse moisturiser & also isle of paradise tanning drops.

LOVE kiko lasting precision eyeliners too. And ABH palettes - modern renaissance & soft glam.

I'm after a good brown mascara - my best ever mascara is chantecaille but it doesn't come
In brown & I could spend £70 on a mascara anyway, but I love the wee ones from advents & beauty boxes

I have a few but:

Dior blush in hologlam
anything Nuxe (can’t think of anything I don’t like from there!), same goes for Caudalie especially Vinoperfect
Clinique city block
rimmel match perfection concealer
L’Oréal lash paradise

A new one which was a gift is Neals yard honey bath/body wash.

oh and rediscovered pears soap, love the smell.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 27/12/2023 11:07

Adding upcircle eye cream (seems to work) and any bi phase eye makeup remover.

BlazingJune · 27/12/2023 11:12

If you have a Waitrose nearby their PURE cleansing lotion is as good as stuff costing 10x as much. It's £2.50 for a bottle and removes make up very well (unperfumed.)

It was rated highly in one the broadsheets a while back.

I love Lancome Hypnose but wish to God I could find something as good, cheaper.

Nars blusher in Sex Appeal- great for pale skins.

Lea1234 · 27/12/2023 14:22

I found my perfect mascara this year! Too Faced, Damn Girl! So volumising!

My go to repurchases are Stila Shimmer and Glow liquid eyeshadows, so easy as a one and done, and Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks. Wear them most days!

I still haven't found my perfect foundation, I really want to try Armani Luminous Silk as I've heard such good things about it, but I'm not convinced they go pale enough for me looking online, I'm super pale and the lightest shade in Huda, Dior, hourglass etc which are all very very light! I do have a mental note to pick up a sample next time I go somewhere with an Armani counter!

Fluffybagel · 27/12/2023 17:07

I love luminous silk Armani, I’ve found Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous foundation a pretty good contender!

Howlsatthemuna · 28/12/2023 19:14

I’m amazed no one has mentioned the Beauty Bay eyeshadow palettes yet! The formula is comparable to (if not better than) some of my considerably more expensive palettes, they’re super-cheap and there’s a massive range of colours so something for everyone.

JSMill · 28/12/2023 19:19

Rapid lash worked wonders on my eyes and is much cheaper than UK lash. I agree about Nars creamy concealer. Another brilliant product for me is Rosalique cream. I have suffered from rosacea in the past and have a tendency to get red skin. It goes under foundation, soothes the skin and neutralises the redness.

caramond · 28/12/2023 23:24

Boots Vitamin C toner. It promises brighter looking skin in 14 days and it totally worked! I only bought it almost accidentally because I was early for an appointment and ended up looking around in Boots to spend the time. But now adding to my regular evening skincare routine.

violentknight · 29/12/2023 11:01

Merwave hair products. If you don't know your hair is wavy it's a game changer!
Gentle and very effective, I love them.

Ompompom · 29/12/2023 13:51

For me it was the Estee Lauder futurist hydra rescue foundation which is very wet for want of a better word.
I was 100% loyal to double wear for years but perimenopause has slapped me hard and my skin is just too dry for double wear now.

The hydra stuff is really good and i can still get my perfect colour. Also, it's 45 spf which is really very good.

saturnspinkhoop · 29/12/2023 13:54

Denim leggings from Next. They don’t look like leggings and are amazing for pear shapes. So comfortable too.

This is good to know, as I'm also finding my trusty double wear doesn't look great now.

Ribenaberry12 · 29/12/2023 15:00

Suneeta London mandarin and calendula cleansing balm. Little company and as good as Liz Earle IMO.

user8800 · 30/12/2023 14:01

Eve lom rescue mask

Murad vitamin c daily moisturiser with spf

4160tuesdays Shazam! perfume

Dior lip oil

For the pp asking about a cheaper hypnose - try 4160tuesdays hush hush !

LoreleiG · 30/12/2023 14:16

Joining for ideas! I would not now be without a VB eyeliner, and Nivea Soft moisturiser. And I have never ever been without a Rimmel eyebrow pencil.

RebelMoon · 30/12/2023 18:19

Inglot Duraline is a must have for me, has many uses. I mix a drop with eyebrow pomade for brows that don't budge all day. A drop mixed with any eyeshadow to make waterproof eyeliner in any colour. Revives dried out products. And a bottle lasts ages.

SirChenjins · 30/12/2023 18:30

Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days varnish and top coat. I painted my nails on the 23rd Dec and have only just taken it off today because of a couple of small chips. Absolute game changer for me.

Soap and Glory Lid Stuff eyeshadow pencil. No need for a primer, this stuff doesn’t move.

Aldi’s Lacura Rejuvenate day and night creams - cheap as chips and as good as the expensive ones I’ve tried over the years

SavBlancTonight · 30/12/2023 23:27

Just came on to say that I was able.tp fi d The Ordinary Vitamin C in silicone today and am soooo happy. Its a fairly high concentration so I had to assure the assistant my skin can take it!

Also, the Murad vitamin c face wash is great. I don't use it daily but now and again and usually take it when I travel.

I bought the ‘slim’ ones, not the skinny ones. The skinny version may be good too, I just haven’t tried it.
