How long does it take you from when you get out of bed to when you leave the house. doesn't matter what you're doing or where you're going. X

20 mins. From getting out of bed to leaving the house for work. Alarm set for 6:20. I’m sat at my desk 8 miles away for 7am

Britpopbaby · 07/12/2023 18:23

30 mins

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 07/12/2023 18:25

15 minutes max. Get up 5.30am out the door by 5.45am. I do get my lunch and snacks ready the night before tho and eat fruit on the way to work in the car that's been prepped the night before

marshmallowfinder · 07/12/2023 18:26

1hr 10 mins. I can't bear rushing. Cup of tea, shower, unload washing machine, apply skin creams and makeup, do hair, get dressed, eat cereal, chop veg for guinea pigs, sort their hay and bedding, quick check for any messages and go.

WhichIsItWendy · 07/12/2023 18:26

1 hour. In that time I get three kids up, fed, dressed and out the door for school. I usually look beshevelled and haven't eaten myself yet, but I have no desire to get up any earlier.

Tisfortired · 07/12/2023 18:27

If I’m going work (so hair and make up half decent) about 25 mins. Just knocking about the house and a few errands probably 5/10 mins.

DaftyLass · 07/12/2023 18:29

I don't wear make up except special occasions, so it only takes me 20 minutes including a shower. I have long hair, but I let it air dry as it is dead straight, so that helps too!

CrushingOnRubies · 07/12/2023 18:35

1hour. Including having a cup of tea, sorting the dog out and making my lunch.

If dp is around to sort out dog and I'm organised made lunch night before / leftovers then 45 mins

DappledThings · 07/12/2023 18:40

10 minutes on the day I go to the office. Alarm at 5.45, driving off at 5.55.

Other days about 90 minutes but that's mainly getting DC breakfast and chivvying. Not much more spent on myself.

If having a shower it would go up to nearly 20 minutes.

Possimpible · 07/12/2023 18:43

I don't understand how people are so quick, it takes me 45 mins from getting up to leaving the house and that's just a non-hair wash shower, quick makeup, hair in a ponytail and out the door

uhOhOP · 07/12/2023 18:43

How do people manage to do everything in 15 or 20 minutes? Are you actively rushing?

TwinklingLightsEverywhere · 07/12/2023 18:43

40 mins including getting dc fed/dressed/off to school. Full face basic makeup and styling hair. I shower before bed and let my gaur dry overnight so it's usually very slightly damp.

I can do it in 20 mins without dc.

Wahtnow · 07/12/2023 18:45

26 minutes, including shower and breakfast. I need to leave by 7:07 for the train and I can't do it unless I'm up by 6:41.

Frenchfancy · 07/12/2023 18:46

Normally 1hour and a half. That includes walking the dog.

Alarm goes off earlier than I would need for DH. I take a long time to really wake up so I happily sit with my coffee and MN.

MatineeLaughs · 07/12/2023 18:46

An hour for work.

I can get ready in under 20 mins if I’m just popping down to the shops or something.

On a day when I have to leave early then yes I'm actively rushing. Rather that than get up earlier. Shower the night before and lay out clothes. Up, wee, brush teeth and hair, get dressed, out the door. I don't wear make-up or style my hair.

LeedsZebra90 · 07/12/2023 18:47

I shower at night and don't wear much make up, if any, my hair is very straight so either have it down or in a plait which takes 2 mins to run a brush through. If I'm rushing can be out the door in 15 mins, a normal day about 25 mins. 40 mins if I have to get the three kids ready too.

Cheepcheepcheep · 07/12/2023 18:49

Alarm 6.30. Out the door 7.30. In that time I:

  • shower
  • get myself dressed while DH is in the shower
  • Get an 18mo and a 3yo dressed while DH gets dressed
  • dry and straighten my hair while DH brushes teeth for the kids
  • get downstairs and get bags, coats, shoes etc together, feed the cat, brush my own teeth. Pack lunch if I’ve made it the night before (rarely)
  • get everyone into the car

I then sort make up either on the train (if I get a seat), in the office (if I don’t) or after nursery drop off (if I wfh). On office days I’m up 6.30, out 7.30 and at desk for 9.

No breakfast or a drink?

DelurkingAJ · 07/12/2023 19:01

35 minutes including getting DSs (and me) breakfast and making their packed lunches. I shower in the evening and I don’t wear make up…

smilesup · 07/12/2023 19:01

When I WFH and DH is home it's
10 minutes eating porridge and tea in bed.
5 minutes brushing teeth and hair and getting dressed in any old shite.
Screen on. I can be at work some days at 7am and then finish at 3pm. Love it.

No breakfast or a drink?

Nope - I’m not really a breakfast person. If I’m particularly hungry I’ll pop a slice of toast on when I get to the office or after nursery drop off. Kids get breakfast at nursery and both have a cup of milk in our room first thing while I’m getting dressed and DH is in the shower. I’ll have a quick sip of water from my overnight glass if I’m thirsty.

If I’m feeling really decadent I’ll grab a cup of tea at the station but if not my first tea of the day will be when I get to the office/get home after drop off.

I love a cuppa but not enough to push the 6.30 alarm back to 6.15!

ETA: To be fair I only work 4 days a week, 2 in and 2 out, so my non working days are a different story. I am however doing 12 hours solo with two preschoolers on those days though so I don’t feel guilty still being in PJs at 8am 😂

RockAndRollerskate · 07/12/2023 19:05

45 mins
Shower the night before.
Sit kids with breakfast while I do hair/make up and have a cuppa.
DH does dressing/teeth while I gather everything (should be doing this the night before).
Breakfast is meal replacement shake in the car

Daveismyhero · 07/12/2023 19:05

2 hours 15 for me, get up at 5.45 and dressed, walk dog. Back for 7, feed animals, make and eat breakfast, hoover round and wash kitchen floor. Get dressed do hair and makeup and out the door for 8

Stressfordays · 07/12/2023 19:05

Work days my alarm goes off at 6.40 and I'm up, dressed, bare minimum make up and hair clipped up. I usually feed the rabbits too and I leave at 7am. I have a coffee and breakfast at work later on.

School run days I wake at 7, I get 3 kids ready and myself ready and out the door by 8.30. I only wake up so early because my eldest leaves at 7.30 and I like to see him off.
