How long does it take you from when you get out of bed to when you leave the house. doesn't matter what you're doing or where you're going. X

Including a shower and hair wash, and getting two kids out of the door, a rather hectic 40 mins.

Without kids I could do it in 25 fairy comfortably.

Without a shower and kids it could be 10 mins but my preference would always be to shower first.

Wendyspotatopeeler · 07/12/2023 19:15

I usually get ready in 15 mins. I will feed the dog and have a cup of tea until it's time for the school run.

I used to take ages and I dont have breakfast but I now have it down to a fine art; quick shower (body only) moisturise face and brush teeth; throw some clothes on; light make up; brush hair and I'm done.

My hair is another matter and has to be done in the evening because it takes hours to dry naturally or at least 30 mins to style.

mynumber · 07/12/2023 19:17

I'm blown away by how quickly people can get ready.
It takes me well over an hour.
Waking up with a coffee takes me 30mins! Teeth and shower 15mins. Getting dressed and make up 10mins. Sorting breakfast and sandwhiches to take with me 10mins. Unloading dishwasher and sorting kitchen another 10 mins.
I don't have to at my desk by a certain time so I don't have the urgency but by the end of the day when I have to stay later to make up my time I always wished I'd gone in earlier!

I don't understand how people are so quick, it takes me 45 mins from getting up to leaving the house and that's just a non-hair wash shower, quick makeup, hair in a ponytail and out the door

25-30 minutes.

Up, toilet, shower, brush teeth, minimal makeup, hair dried, toilet again (thank you ibs) Grab bags and go.

eta: Alarm set for 05:10. At work, 13 miles away by 6am.

JaninaDuszejko · 07/12/2023 19:25

Forever but not due to me beautifying myself, I put on the dishwasher and the put a load of washing in the washing machine and make my packed lunch and get my swimming stuff sorted and cook my breakfast and get everyone in the house up, check my emails, then I go for a swim (shower and dress for work there), go back to the house, yell at my teenagers to hurry up if they want a lift to drama club/swimming/choir/whatever, drive them to school then get to work hours after I get up and some smart arse will say 'what took you so long' because all he does is get up and come to work.

No doubt someone will say 'you could do all that the night before' but I'm very much a lark and it would take much longer in the evening because I'm tired.

SnapdragonToadflax · 07/12/2023 19:28

I like an hour, hate rushing. If I just got up, dressed and left the house I'd feel weird, like I was still in sleep mode.

Shower
Get dressed, tie hair up
Very light make up
Get child up
Feed cats and deal with litter tray
Feed child, cup of tea
Get child dressed, teeth brushed etc
Find jumpers, coats, shoes, reading books etc
Leave house

SiobahnRoy · 07/12/2023 19:31

I need a shower with hair wash in the morning to feel awake. I can be ready in 45 mins perhaps 40 at a push. Up around 6.10 and out by 7am usually.

ToothFairy2023 · 07/12/2023 19:36

On a work day I get up at 6.45 (get up to let the dog out feed him, put coffee machine on, have a poo, empty dishwasher, put wash on, make breakfast but eat it at work, walk dog for 25-30 min, shower, clean teeth, do hair, get dressed, grab work bag and lap top). Leave house at 7.50 (at my desk for 8 or just after).

FestiveFrederica · 07/12/2023 19:39

About 40 minutes

FestiveFrederica · 07/12/2023 19:40

I get up at 6.15 and leave the house before 7

Ladyof2022 · 07/12/2023 19:40

10 mins

Peablockfeathers · 07/12/2023 19:42

If I'm going to work then not overly long- I have a shower (but don't wash my hair as I stick it up in a bun and then always wash it after work) and just pop moisturiser on with no make up- have a uniform as well so don't need to spend time choosing what to wear! So probably 20 minutes or so?

If its a day off I usually do overnight curls so hair only takes a minute, I always have a shower though and do at least a light foundation, mascara and my brows- probably around 30 mins.

quizmasterr · 07/12/2023 19:42

it depends what I'm doing and where I'm going

if I'm just popping to the shops maybe 20 mins to shower, get dressed out some mascara and concealer on etc

If I'm going into the office then closer to an hour if I'm straightening my hair, maybe 40 mins if not

Thingamebobwotsit · 07/12/2023 19:45

Wow you are all so quick! If it is just me about 50 mins to be ready for the office. Less if wfh. If it is me and DCs more like 1hr 30. But in that time I hoover, make lunch, empty dishwasher, have breakfast etc.

But I hate rushing. And I hate leaving the house in a mess to have to sort later so maybe that is why?

Kim82 · 07/12/2023 19:50

Weekdays my alarm is set for 6.45am and I leave the house at 8.30am.

To be fair, I spend the first 45 minutes comatose on the sofa trying to wake up with a cup of tea, then sit down for another one for 15 minutes between 8 and 8.15am so strictly speaking I could get up an hour later but I need my time to sit. I am not a morning person.

Pipistrellus · 07/12/2023 19:51

How does this relate to style and beauty? Shower, dressed, hair, teeth, would be 20 minutes but I usually get up an hour and a half before I need to leave to cook and eat breakfast, wash up, pack lunch etc.

Fairylightfurore · 07/12/2023 19:53

I am up at 6.45 but don't need to do the school run until 8.15. I shower, get dressed, make a cuppa, check my work emails and respond to a few, then make the kids breakfast, eat, and make sure they have what they need for school, then chuck my face on, coat up and leave the house. The actual ' getting ready' bit takes about 5 minutes but I don't like rushing.

santasknackered · 07/12/2023 19:59

If you are quick, please break this down as I have NO idea how anybody can get ready in less than 30 minutes, or 45 if you wear makeup!!

Here are my timings*

Make coffee - 5mins
Shower followed by body serums, face serums and HRT gel - 15 mins
Deodorant and get dressed - 5 mins (10 if clothes weren't ready)
Make up - 15 mins
Hair brush / put up / make less like bird nest watch and jewellery, 5 mins

Total 45 mins

Still have to get out the door.

*I do wear full makeup but don't wash my hair in the mornings. Also this is just the time I take to get ready, after or before which I do young DC dressed / breakfast etc etc so the whole morning takes 2 hours.

santasknackered · 07/12/2023 20:00

I forgot to add I never eat breakfast either!

TheOGCCL · 07/12/2023 20:01

Blimey I’m in a different world. On the days I go to the office I get up about 8.30am, spend an hour or a bit longer getting ready, shower, breakfast, two cups of tea, picking an outfit, hair and make up. Leave about 9.40 for a 10am start, lucky my commute isn’t long. I’d do the same if doing something with people on the weekend. On other days, I don’t wash my hair and use less make up and can be ready in 30 mins but it’s an even later start. I am not a morning person and no kids, possibly related 😁

MummyDummyNow · 07/12/2023 20:04

I can't believe so many people don't shower/bath/wash in the morning. Do you not worry you smell?

Ascubudr · 07/12/2023 20:07

Back in the day I need to leave at 6am

Down stairs 5:45 make coffee, pur 2 cups and pour rest into travel mug

5:55 Deliver coffee and kiss to DH in bed, brush teeth
5:58 Downstairs Grab bag, travel mug and keys
5:59 Out the door

Make up and breakfast on train to London.

After showering at night and just sleeping?

After showering at night and just sleeping?

I know plenty of night showerers and they’re fine the next day. Sadly, after sleep I awaken like the kraken. Honestly, you’d be amazed at the span. I go to a music festival most summers and my friend can emerge after a boozy night and no shower with a straight fringe and looking fairly normal. I look like I’ve been pulled through a hedge backwards about 5 mins after we’ve pitched the tent not jealous I promise
