I too am a child of the 70s but don't hate all brown. I think tan and caramel shades can look really good. And I'm sorry to say but I love grey! Blush I get teased about my large collection of charcoal grey jumpers and cardis.

Me too, I love all shades of grey but particularly dark grey! Not personally in decor, but definitely to wear.
Hurrah! Up the grey team!😂

On the 70s theme we had a set of dark brown Denby plates for a wedding present. So expensive at the time and we loved them. And our bathroom was avocado with avocado tiles and a floral wallpaper with a yellow carpet. Loved it.

Princess Diana's starry dress has been sold at many times more than the auction estimate. Look forward to seeing more of it on the tv news.

My mother's pride and joy was that she had a full dinner service of the 1960s Meakin Sunflower design - dinner plates, side plates, bowls, platters, lidded vegetable dishes, tea service and coffee service etc. Every year it would come out for Christmas dinner and if we had special guests over. It was a homage to the colour pallette of the late 60s/early 70s

I agree that grey for home decor isn't great Eau, but give me a bit of grey knitwear any day of the week. Glad to have a grey ally on here!

Maireas · 18/12/2023 16:11

The first house me and my husband bought had an avocado bathroom suite....and an orange Hygena kitchen! 🟤 🥑 🍊

I actually liked the 🍑 😂

I'd rather have any of those colours than grey, though! Our neighbours not only have grey windows and doors, they've painted the outside render grey... it's like living next to a docked battleship.

Our local hotel has been painted dark grey...it was alwas creamy yellow. The grey is very gloomy.

Did we see this recent red suit of Leti's? Apologies if we have. Love the colour, but am not sure about the cut of the jacket? Anyway. At least it's not brown...

That's what they did at our school. My classroom door was pink. It's now grey. I am not happy.

I love Leti's red trouser suit, ooh yes.

I agree. I am definitely over gray decor (as I sit in a room in my house painted pale gray), which seems to be hanging on here in the States, in spite of all the prominent interior designers declaring it outdated. But I do like to wear almost all shades of gray.

Maireas · 18/12/2023 16:59

Leti favours that shade of red, which I like. I just think that the jacket is a bit boxy.

My mum had that exact avocado kitchen! And on a style, well 'style', related note my DD is learning to deal with the stress of flashing her undies above the waistband of low rise bootcut jeans just like I had to in the 90s 😂

MotherofPearl · 18/12/2023 17:03

Red always a great colour on Leti but I agree about the jacket - it looks a bit too long to me.

Love Estelle's skirt.

She looks lovely - Prince Oscar looks sweet in his jumper.

I love Estelle, they seem to have raised a lovely confident girl.

borntobequiet · 18/12/2023 18:06

I kept the avocado bathroom suite when I moved into my present abode, as it was very good quality and far better than I could afford new. Plus no one wanted to carry a cast iron bath down four flights of stairs.

eggandonion · 18/12/2023 18:21

We had friends in a new build house in the mid eighties who had three bathroom suites including a raspberry one. It showed every drip. I was madly jealous despite the drawbacks of having to keep polishing it.

Lunde · 18/12/2023 19:04

Lovely photo of CPV's family - Estelle is really tall for 11. I think Daniel is 5' 11.

whatausername · 18/12/2023 19:07

Ah I found this thread again! I was looking in the Royal section.

LadyEloise1 · 18/12/2023 19:10

That set has an Orla Kiely vibe about it. @Lunde
I'm convinced OK must have peeked into our home as a child.
I really dislike her style and colours.

Lunde · 18/12/2023 21:07

Queen Silvia and her 8 grandchildren at the traditional tree choosing ceremony where students from Sweden's Agricultural University bring a selection of Christmas trees for the RF to choose from.

Ooh! Lunde, is it a competition? Are these students vying frantically for 1st place royal tree, having been furiously feeding their personal spruces for months or is it a little more Christmas spiritty than that?
