I’m a bit late to this today. I love Max’s pale blue gown, very ice queen. I agree it might need a bit more uplift in the scaffolding though😆.
I’m not keen on Zara’s suit, it’s too boxy.
I’m also not a fan of Meghans brown suit, I think that shade has orangey undertones that don’t suit her. I think she wore the polo neck with a darker brown satin skirt a while back, which was a much richer shade, nicer. I like her in greenish colours best.
Sophie looks good.

StartupRepair · 16/12/2023 21:08

Love Max's ice blue dress - not sure about the matching shoes. Sophie is a gem.

Papergirl1968 · 16/12/2023 23:17

Zara at Cheltenham again. I like the coat but not the grey trousers.

Agreed. Don't like the boots either but confess to be unsure of winter footwear these days if it's not flat shoes that are to be worn so I'm interested in what others think of the boots.

Sisterpita · 17/12/2023 05:48

I like the boots but they need a different trouser leg shape.

I also agree about Sophie, she has really grown in the role. I also found it endearing that you could see how concerned she was for James ( and Louise) when the grandchildren stood vigil for QEII.

Eaumyword · 17/12/2023 07:01

I like Zara's top half there but not the trousers and boots!

Lifestooshort71 · 17/12/2023 07:27

I think Zara regularly gets it all a bit wrong but admire her for being true to herself. Meghan's brown trouser suit is lovely and very appropriate for the occasion. I think she's nailed it here - a very professional look.

MrsLeonFarrell · 17/12/2023 09:11

I think Meghan looks good in the suit, I don't like that shade of brown but the shape and the style suit her. Having a large bosom, polo necks are a disaster on me so I'm jealous of all those who can wear them and stay warm.

Sophie is a delight, I wish the work she and Camilla do around violence against women got more press.

BritneyBookClubPresident · 17/12/2023 22:24

Meghan looks stunning. That shade of brown is lovely on her

CallmeSand · 18/12/2023 00:35

Having grown up in the 1969s and 1970s I hate brown with a passion -still 😂

Maireas · 18/12/2023 06:42

@CallmeSand - I know exactly what you mean. I can't come to terms with brown, having spent a decade dressed in it, and surrounded by it. I still don't like brown clothes, however stylish the cut!

You know you were a '60's/70's kid if you wore brown, orange and green patterns all at once!
I remember my dbro had a brown balaclava. He looked like a teeny tiny bank robber 😂

I hadn't made that connection before, but yes!! 70s haters of brown unite.

Lifestooshort71 · 18/12/2023 08:18

My school uniform was brown in the 60s and couldn't wear the brown of the 70s! Don't wear it now actually 🤔

Maireas · 18/12/2023 08:24

I can't wear brown at all now. My childhood bedroom had a dark brown carpet and curtains, the bedcover was brown with orange squares.
We need to start a 70s Brown Survival Group.

SenecaFallsRedux · 18/12/2023 08:37

I refused to join the Brownies because of the color of the uniform.

But I would love Meghan's trouser suit in forest green.

Maireas · 18/12/2023 08:42

Indeed, @SenecaFallsRedux - forest green would be lovely, or deep plum.

chesterelly1 · 18/12/2023 08:56

@Maireas can I join? Your childhood bedroom sounds much like mine. One of the highlights of my childhood was when my mum could afford to upgrade to duvets and I got to choose my own cover - I went for Victoria Plum. In 40 years time women will be shuddering at the thought of wearing grey

Maireas · 18/12/2023 09:01

@chesterelly1 😂join the club! Plus- about the grey. People are definitely going to have to recover from that, it's just as ubiquitous!

I bought a brown skirt and long cardigan once. The sales assistant talked me into. When my young sons spotted me in it one said that I looked like a big pooh. Cue much giggling.
From the mouth of babes 😂

MmePoppySeedDefage · 18/12/2023 13:22

I'm currently wearing dark brown velvet jeans, and love them, despite surviving the 70s.

My sister spent ages circa 1977 sewing small brown and cream hexagons into a quilt and had totally gone off brown by the time she'd finished it.

Burnt orange, brown and that "oh so modern" avocado

The first house I bought in the beige 80s had a kitchen very similar to this - although I think my tiles were darker brown

On the 70s theme we had a set of dark brown Denby plates for a wedding present. So expensive at the time and we loved them. And our bathroom was avocado with avocado tiles and a floral wallpaper with a yellow carpet. Loved it.

Princess Diana's starry dress has been sold at many times more than the auction estimate. Look forward to seeing more of it on the tv news.

MotherofPearl · 18/12/2023 15:38

I too am a child of the 70s but don't hate all brown. I think tan and caramel shades can look really good. And I'm sorry to say but I love grey! Blush I get teased about my large collection of charcoal grey jumpers and cardis.

OMG I had that kitchen green leather finish, Hygena. We spent hours assembling it.
