Apologies if I offended anyone. The suit appeared on Royal Fashion Police on Insta a couple of days ago so was surprised it hadn’t been picked up here.

ArcaneWireless · 16/12/2023 13:57

It is maybe the polo neck that is jarring with me grouchy. Maybe a winter white top would lift the colour of the suit.

As it is? Alas ‘tis a no for me.

I wish I could find that other photo. Knowing me and my brain scramblies, it probably was a scoop neck, cherry red and she wasn’t looking as casual as I remember….

She changed my mind on royal high necks with that photo alone. I can’t wear them.

Chins.

Lunde · 16/12/2023 14:00

Don't like Meghan's brown outfit. I think the suit itself is fine - it's the polo neck jumper I don't like. I think, as a pp said, it would better with a cream blouse or a thin jumper with a lower neckline.

Personally I always look like a chipmunk in a polo neck jumper - it seems to push my jowls up into my cheeks 😂I don't think they suit many people unless you have an especially swan-like neck

They are practical though if attending outdoor events in winter weather. Even I opted for practicality recently when out and about at Christmas markets in Scandinavia when the temperatures ranged from minus 10C to minus 20C

Maireas · 16/12/2023 14:24

Thanks for the pictures.
I'm never keen on brown, I think it's a difficult colour to wear. I agree, @ArcaneWireless (not that you're an elephant 😂!) that Meghan looks better in olive or deep red. She can wear polo necks well, though, for some the proportions aren't great.
Her hair looks nice, I prefer that to the more severe scraped back look of late. As ever, make up on point.

Max looks great in the ice blue! That's a colour that washes many out.

I love a polo neck jumper. I find they're essential for keeping out the Scottish East Coast wind, which is vicious. But they can look rather like you're presenting your head, which maybe is something Royals should avoid.

Maireas · 16/12/2023 14:27

"presenting your head" brilliant! 😃
A royal situation to avoid....

I love a polo neck, often to be found in one!
I like Meghan's brown suit. Very wearable.
Love Max in her ice blue. She's such a rockstar!

Maireas · 16/12/2023 14:56

I agree about winter white. Upthread I posted something about Sophie (at a brilliant charity event) wearing an ivory cashmere polo neck sweater, which looked gorgeous. Quite luxurious.

I can see that they'd be practical in Scandinavia, @Lunde , and have often been tempted here as it does get a bit breezy in Yorkshire. However, my neck is too short, so would be less than flattering. I have a cowl neck sweater which is a slightly more flattering look for me.

I hate things round my neck now.

Which is a pity as I feel a well draped scarf(wrapped round 12 times) would hide a multitude of chins/sins.

Scoop or a wrap /v for me. Anything rounder and higher would looks as though I was smuggling 2 spacehoppers.

I envy those with a petite bosom.

Although my space hoppers balance out their two mates hitch-hiking atop the back of my legs. So happy days.

I look at Kate and her athletic figure and live my best unattainable fashion life through her.

Max looks stunning in that colour.

Maireas · 16/12/2023 15:29

Don't knock it, @ArcaneWireless - people have surgery now to get voluptuous derrieres like yours. The Brazil butt lift is popular!
I know what you mean about petite bosoms though, mine need a lot of hoiking nowadays.

On the subject of Meghan though - icy blue suits her too. She doesn’t half wear a shirt well.

I always think she is at her most natural with the dogs. There are some lovely photos of her with them.

The two dog photo I know well. Some dogs are lap dogs by desire - not by design!

Look at those dogs 😊! They look cosy comfy.
Yes, that blue shirt is nice - I always think Meghan has a great casual wardrobe.

@Maireas I'm liking the winter white polo sweaters recently. Soph's was lovely and I really, really liked Kate's that she wore (I think) for the baby bank photo. I wondered if it was Boden as I've been eyeing their similar jumpers up but waiting for a bigger discount!
Although...can't wear white as terribly clarty within 5mins of putting it on. Usually dog paws, or cups of tea straight down the front 🙄

Maireas · 16/12/2023 17:06

Yes, I liked Kate's white sweater at the baby bank event, too! Goodness, I'm another one who struggles to keep white clothing nice, being a bit of a slaister!

ArcaneWireless · 16/12/2023 17:19

Slaisters and clartiness. ☺️ Me tae.

Mavens of moch are we 🥰

eggandonion · 16/12/2023 17:22

Does slaister mean dribble noisily? In Northern Ireland you are not supposed to sloohter your tae. Is it the same idea?

Maireas · 16/12/2023 17:27

It is, @eggandonion ! You invariably slaister all over clean clothing....."Sloohter your tae" is a great phrase!

Good aul ulster Scots.
I would not even attempt to wear white or cream at an event. Unless I was wearing an overall over it.

themessygarden · 16/12/2023 19:29

Sophie in my neck of the woods, she is dressed very casual, such a lovely gesture, she is lovely, my kids go to the same school as this little boy.

ArcaneWireless · 16/12/2023 20:00

I confess I’m very fond of Sophie.

What sealed what was probably already a done deal was her absolute sadness when the late Queen died.

I always think that the pain you feel when a loved one dies, whether it be human or animal, is in direct proportion to how much you loved.
And it really touched me.

She seems to go calmly and with compassion and without fuss. It is all about those she visits and spends time with. Which is how it should be.

She looks perfect here.

Eaumyword · 16/12/2023 20:04

Joining the Sophie-love! She's so grown into her role, just gets on with it without drama and I do respect that heaps.
Lovely words, Messy and Arcane 💕

Maireas · 16/12/2023 20:05

So true. I also really love the charities and causes that Sophie supports so well. Always with a dignity and sincerity, always showcasing the cause.
Plus - another roll neck sweater!
