Still no card for me today…

MiracleToast · 14/12/2023 13:40

I hope he takes the hint @Theteapotsbrokenspout, I also think they’re lovely

MiracleToast · 14/12/2023 13:40

@PretLea ☹️

faustina · 14/12/2023 13:59

@Dee1224 - hope you feel better soon

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - beautiful earrings - I always think mixed metal is so much nicer

@Saurus72 - I'm planning to buy some big cords (if in the sale) - the ones with the pyjama tie cord, and then another of their beautiful jumpers - haven't decided which yet! @MrsCat1 - sorry you've had bad experiences with their jumpers - I think some wool mixes are worse than others (have heard bad things about the wool cashmere in particular)

Snowyowl78 · 14/12/2023 14:21

@Theteapotsbrokenspout i like those too. On sallys website they are a teeeeeeny bit cheaper

has anyone got any of these and how do you wash them? I am borderline between M and L but I should probably go large as they look shrinkable

they seem like the perfect thing for under pinafores etc

Oooo thank you @Snowyowl78 there’s lots of lovely pieces on her website.

Dee1224 · 14/12/2023 14:29

Thanks @faustina - currently binge-watching via i-player from bed!

I like those earrings @Theteapotsbrokenspout

Oh no. I've just looked through the new in, and I want it all (almost). I love all those greens and blues.

Oh my it’s just lovely, isn’t it! And they have brought back the wrap jumpsuit but in cord. I have the denim one and I love it.

They have gone full Monty Don. That green canvas jacket!

mizu · 14/12/2023 20:52

I've had a quick look too. Some lovely things. Especially this and the dresses ❤️‍🔥

@JustforToast this was my exact reaction too! I love Monty ♥️

Countmeout · 15/12/2023 07:34

Hope you’re on the mend @Dee1224 .

@Saurus72 my sale list , two main things, the crinkle pinafore which I have tried on in person, it’s very small in the chest area, but would be useful and the Alix seersucker wool trousers, I don’t think the Alix will be in this sale though. Also would like the velvet jacket and/or skirt, the skirt looked fantastic on an assistant in one of the shops I visited, not sure where it fits in my lifestyle though.
I have a couple of those Marks cashmere jumpers they wash well.

Lovely earrings @Theteapotsbrokenspout I like the 2 metals as well.

I , too, love Monty and definitely see a Monty vibe there. Looking forward to seeing the new collection on the styling video on 18th January which seems forever away. Interested to see the fit.

@Saurus72 how did you find the sizing on the Greta? It’s in my list too but I might try the next size down as found it v loose.

also on list the embroidered navy dress and the brown toffee on forget what it’s called. Do I need this many dresses?!

the new Bryn doesn’t look like a Bryn it looks like an ‘easy dress’, or maybe they’ve just canned the ‘easy’ moniker. The model looks like hers is too big.

Saurus72 · 15/12/2023 09:52

@Snowyowl78 The Greta worked in my usual Toast (old sizing) dress size, 1 smaller than my high st size.

The navy embroidered dress, do you mean this one? I have that one and I like it a lot. Again, I bought in my usual Toast (old) size. It has kind of a 70s vibe for me which is a definite positive! Casual and lovely.

Completely agree re: the new Bryn, it looks awful. How could that image have been approved for use?! Groupthink…

Saurus72 · 15/12/2023 10:01

@Snowyowl78 Also re you question about how many dresses? I’m reaching a point where seasons go by and I find I’ve worn several dresses on high rotation and others barely at all - I love them all but there just isn’t enough time! So I’ve started wearing some of them to work now - I don’t believe in keeping things for best so seems to make sense. I really need to think about how many I buy from now on. I’ve just counted and I have 25 Toast dresses 😬

OftenOrange · 15/12/2023 10:17

@Saurus72 So glad to hear that others have a generous dress collection !
I love them too and Sale time dresses always make the larger part of my spend , but sadly Ijust don’t get to wear many …lifestyle, always chilly , always lazy etc
Had people to supper last night and forced myself not to wear Annies and a jumper : wore the indigo baggy pinafore with a check tie neck shirt and intend to cycle iterations of that look for the next weeks over Christmas .

Snowyowl78 · 15/12/2023 10:30

@Saurus72 yes that one! I nearly kept it but then decided to wait for the sale.

I’ve got a new job next year so maybe that’s my cue to start wearing my dresses. I find it a lot easier to start dressing more nicely when you don’t know people, otherwise there’s comments! I went a bit mad on pinafores this year, have them in denim, cord and linen!

Saurus72 · 15/12/2023 10:32

@OftenOrange It’s honestly mainly about the ironing for me! I wfh mostly now, so during winter I wear these joggers, wooly socks and a cashmere jumper. So comfy and warm, no ironing required. So I now have 1 day in the office and Friday-Sunday to wear actual clothes, so quite concentrated!

Dee1224 · 15/12/2023 11:00

Thanks @Countmeout - DS is sick too now, so I am popular 🙃.

In other news: I won a light up liqueur in the M&S advent event, (but who knows if I’ll be able to redeem it in time!)

Also, Seasalt have started their sale, in case anyone is interested. They have those lovely jute bags starting from £2.95.

Stoic123 · 15/12/2023 11:12

@Saurus72 - clothes wishlist only has 2 items - fair isle mohair that's been on loads of Toast Lives & a pair of flat fronted cotton twill trousers. Thinking they are unlikely to be in the Dec/Jan sale. I also have my eye on the Molesworth prints as I loved the cards so much.

I like to pick up wrapping paper, baubles, stationery and socks in the sale if there are any - good gifts.

Agree that this Bryn dress does look like the Easy dress style, which normally look better on curvier people than on models. Also agree that everthing in the new drop looks very oversized. More so than normal.

I broke and ordered a couple of baubles in advance of the sale as I'm really enjoying the ones I bought last year from Toast. So gorgeous.

Stravaig · 15/12/2023 11:22

@Dee1224 Thanks for the heads up, off to prowl warm things.

£2.95 jute bag from Seasalt vs £215 waxed cotton bag from Toast.

Dee1224 · 15/12/2023 11:24

Decisions, decisions @Stravaig 😹I thought the same!

Snowyowl78 · 15/12/2023 12:35

I got the cord jumpsuit today, but it’s not as good as my denim one so I’m sending back. It’s 2 inches longer which is really annoying since I have to get everything taken up and my denim one was the only one that I didn’t have to alter. It’s more lightweight than the denim and still lovely. I like the top half but I think you’d need to be 5’6 + for the length to be right. Due to the light colour and length it looked a bit baggy and messy on me. I’ll go for it in the sale probably and pay for it to be altered!!
