I too have had a refund with .99 on the end!!

I have succumbed to more sale stuff. In my defence I had been waiting for the green cardigan and the checked shirt to go in the sale. Sadly the green cardigan was only available in the medium rather than the large and so I've taken a punt - am hoping it's more like the old sizing.

neveradullmoment99 · 03/01/2024 08:10

That's really worrying @ScottishMouse with regards to refunds!
I've a few, yet to come through and for quite a lot.
I returned most of my sale items.
I've ordered a few other thongs though.
2 dresses - The velvet pinafore and the yellow dress with the vine print.
The ava monkey boots in nut brown.
Was a bit gutted yesterday as I had the cream donegal jumper in my basket and it sold out before I got to checkout! Ah well...

ScottishMouse · 03/01/2024 08:12

Just received a reply apologising and telling me an additional refund for £150 would be put through. No explanation though.

neveradullmoment99 · 03/01/2024 08:13

Bryn scenery print dress in the ochre colour and have not ordered thongs !!! Things!

It's great that they've sorted it but no explanation??? Outrageous!

ScottishMouse · 03/01/2024 08:18

It’s just a bit weird that it is happening @neveradullmoment99. I would have thought the process would be automated - select the item being returned and the correct amount is automatically refunded. This looks like someone entering the amount manually, and if that’s the case, are these just mistakes? The penny discrepancies seems particularly odd if so, as they don’t ever price things at £xx.99.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 03/01/2024 08:27

@ScottishMouse When I had a problem with a delivery charge being deducted from my refunds cs told me it was the warehouse, that didn’t make any sense either 🤷‍♀️.

You'd think the barcode would just be scanned as we've already selected what's been returned. It seems very random. I will be checking mine for sure.

Countmeout · 03/01/2024 09:51

I think the warehouse must be quite random. I’m sure some of us at sometime have returned 2 items and only one is credited, it’s as if they drop one from the parcel or take out both and then forget about the other. It seems to lack some sort of organisation.

Sorry I meant to say it would therefore not surprise me they did some sort of mechanical input of refunds particularly where the price has changed.

My three parcels have finally arrived, I know Norfolk is a long way from Toast HQ but it has seemed a long time. One is from the first day of the sale. I shall be careful of any refunds, thanks for the warning as I don't usually check.

Dee1224 · 03/01/2024 10:36

@ScottishMouse - they had a couple of the medium baskets in the SM store in early November- it might be worth giving them a ring.

Re: Only getting a partial refund- that happened to me a couple of times in Toast’s sale last year. I had to send them a picture of the proof of posting so they could see the weight - thank goodness I hadn’t done inpost or RM pick up from home as they wouldn’t have acknowledged their mistake otherwise! The thought of losing nearly £500 made me feel sick🙀.

This is why I am trying to do smaller orders this year even though it’s not very green.

I also had to chase up refund of postage which had been wrongly charged on several occasions.

On a semi-related note: A friend had the same issue with a HoF return - large order, expensive items, only £30 refunded. HoF have basically called them a liar and refused to refund. ‘Our warehouse don’t make mistakes and we don’t have a problem with theft’. End of discussion!

lordloveadog · 03/01/2024 10:48

I'm away so haven't yet tried my first batch of sales stuff.

Now succumbed to FOMO and ordered the twill duffle coat because only my size left. I never looked at it seriously because so expensive and pictures not very exciting, but it has excellent reviews.

Am not sure how I feel about this, because I don't need another coat and it's expensive even in the sale. On the other hand, waiting until I do need something and trying to find it has proved a much less successful strategy in the past than just buying a nice version when it floats by.

And I have realized I have a tendency to buy several cheaper, ok things and end up spending the same as I would on one really good version.

So I suppose I'm going to see whether the coat is absolutely glorious and should see me through next couple of decades and then be given to a (hypothetical) granddaughter. And otherwise return it.

ScottishMouse · 03/01/2024 11:11

Oh thanks @Dee1224 I might just do that.
re partial refunds, I have had that issue before where I have sent back more than one item and they have not refunded everything, and wanted to see the weight on the postal receipt. They once tried to tell me the item I had returned could not possibly have been in the parcel given the weight! This is a different issue though, the item has been acknowledged as returned, but the amount refunded is somewhat random.

That is a shocking story about HoF. I hope it gets sorted for your friend. How stressful!

Snowyowl78 · 03/01/2024 11:47

Eek this is scary! What about if it’s sent by Inpost?? I’m going to take a pic of my returns I think.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 03/01/2024 13:25

@Zeusrules I’m Norfolk too, one of my first day orders arrived before Christmas, the other one only yesterday. It does seem very slow this year, but on the plus side it’s given me time to be more rational about my panic purchases so a lot has gone back.

I think I would query even if my refund was only 1p short to make sure the 99p thing didn’t become standard. Although I’m feeling a bit pedantic today after a run in with our accountant about charging us full whack when they made so many errors on our tax returns that I ended up doing most of the work myself.

OftenOrange · 03/01/2024 14:02

@lordloveadog Your policy of buying something not needed because of the markdown on a true gem makes total sense to me.
The Toast sale item I treasure most is the Patchwork Denim Jacket , still expensive but a really unique piece . May wear it today to return my sale misses to a store ….

Suasthuasanuas · 03/01/2024 15:54

Hello lovely Toast people. Long time lurker here! I'm eyeing up this dress: Citrus Green Dress
But not sure about size. 8 is recommended, but oos. 6 is available and I'm torn about giving it a go. In Ireland so don't want to have total buyer's remorse if it doesn't work out.
Anyone have this and willing to share some words of wisdom about sizing?

Hello @Suasthuasanuas I’m afraid I can’t answer your question, but I just wanted to say, great name!!

Saurus72 · 03/01/2024 16:13

@Suasthuasanuas Hello, I have several similar Toast dresses, and my IRL size is a curvy 14 but 12 n most Toast dresses, including similar ones to this. So if you’re usually an 8 a 6 would most likely be a great fit.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 03/01/2024 16:17

Not very happy, one of my orders from just after Christmas has been sent minus the napkins. These were showing as available for quite a while after I placed the order so I don't know what's happened there, unless orders aren't being fulfilled in the order received. I haven't been refunded for them either.

Noeggsontoast · 03/01/2024 16:29

@Suasthuasanuas I have this dress in a 6, am typically an 8/10 depending on shop. I never use Toast size recommendations as they're always out by 1 size. Hope this helps

Zeusrules · 03/01/2024 16:35

@Theteapotsbrokenspout sadly for my pocket I only have one return which is just too tight and I'm too old to fall into the keeping it in case I lose weight trap.

The blue Fracap boots were well worth the wait though. Also the Donegal sweater and herringbone wool coat which I'm keeping handy in case we have another power cut!

Suasthuasanuas · 03/01/2024 16:37

Thanks @Saurus72 and @Noeggsontoast ! It's a minefield buying online!
@Noeggsontoast could I be very cheeky and ask if you know the pit to pit measurements!? It's the bust I'm worried might be tight.
And thanks @ScottishMouse 💚

Noeggsontoast · 03/01/2024 16:44

@Suasthuasanuas pit to pit it's 43cm.
