Having now taken the alix check out into the snow I would agree green/navy
when I look at them in the house they appear to match better with brown 🤷

faustina · 30/12/2023 15:45

@Countmeout - thanks for the returns advice. The trouble with the Indigo Alix was that they'd look great when you put them on, then just slowly slip down until they looked really shapeless. With jumpers it's different somehow - my favourite ever jumper is an XL Tall one - but not all oversized jumpers work - I bought a NavyGrey one in a L on Vinted and that just looked like a strangely shaped dress. I will see if I can get Scottish mouse's Medium to try on..

RockaLock · 30/12/2023 15:53

Thank you, @sonjadog, I will try that tonight.

OftenOrange · 30/12/2023 15:56

Nothing better than reading jumper reviews except seeing them in action!
@Stoic123 The smiley jumper is really gorgeous on you , it’s perfect for cheering up grey January
@faustina Both the jumpers look great , I prefer oversized in general so for me the Humbug in L is just right and looks brilliant with the checked trousers.
Also love how the yak looks , but à neckline that feels off isn’t worth the ££

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/12/2023 15:59

@faustina I love that jumper with the check trousers, and the size looks fine to me but it’s really how it feels on you, so it would be worth trying a M if you can.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/12/2023 16:00

Am I going mad or has Toast finally added garment measures to their clothes? I clicked on the size chart and their it is!

neveradullmoment99 · 30/12/2023 16:00

there not their!

neveradullmoment99 · 30/12/2023 16:03

I returned both the gingham boat neck dress and the velvet skirt. Nothing wrong with the boat neck. Just felt I had too many of this type of style and was a little tired of the same silhouette. As for the velvet skirt, really not flattering with a tummy and just generally far too bulky at the waist. I agree with whoever posted before, it arrived extremely creased. Gorgeous thick velvet though and beautiful quality.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/12/2023 16:04

@faustina love the check trousers and jumper. The trousers look so much better on you than on the Toast website!

faustina · 30/12/2023 16:21

@OftenOrange and @Theteapotsbrokenspout - thank you!

@neveradullmoment99 - they are just so lovely! If you're looking for trousers like that , do try them! (but size down)

Another happy belated @AFingerofFudge! Sounds like you had a lovely day. I wanted to ask about the gingham boat neck dress. I got it to try too and it’s a great fit for me. My only concern is the colour of it - I just thought it does nothing for my warmish-toned fairness. How does it work for you, if you don’t mind me asking?

Jumping in with a suggestion ! I wear mine with the cashmere cropped green cardigan so I have lots of colour near my face. I’m also on a look out ( but in no hurry ) for a cropped boxy jumper to wear on top so the dress becomes a skirt. It’s quite versatile. I think gingham is a neutral and can be worn with most colours.

mizu · 30/12/2023 16:41

@faustina love those trousers too. I haven't bought anything this sale - got a trip to Edinburgh to save for - but I had to take a peek at them as they are so gorgeous, thank goodness they are sold out in most sizes!

PretLea · 30/12/2023 16:55

Great photos of the humbug @faustina - do let us know if you manage to grab an M. I so think I’ll still need an S to get the fit I want.

@Noodle421 thanks for the suggestion, super helpful 👌 I really did think that I’d mostly be wearing a jumper or cardigan with it, but thought what if I didn’t…the neckline is so beautiful it would be a shame not to show it at least sometimes. I did return it today, and I do think it’s one of the items I’ll consider getting later in the sale again if nothing else I like comes up. And it’s still available of course.

Long-time lurker here; I tend to only buy secondhand Toast but I have some Christmas money and am very tempted by the checked cotton/wool Trousers. Don't suppose you could measure the waistband for me, @faustina? They look fantastic on you! Is the fabric quite soft?

TIA

Observed · 30/12/2023 17:52

PS re my previous post: I've looked on the website and can see that the waistband on the XS is 65cm (too small for me) but I was wondering how large it is when stretched (elasticated?).

Trinitybean · 30/12/2023 18:21

Yes, @neveradullmoment99 this is how I discovered that I am now a large person, large PJ's said size 12-14.

faustina · 30/12/2023 18:32

@Observed - I'm afraid the xs pair are all taped up in their bag ready to go back to toast. I kept the xxs ( which I'm absolutely not). I'll measure those stretched in about half an hour. The fabric is really nice - it's a seersucker and because it has wool, it feels warmer than just cotton. They are soft but not floppy- the legs are panelled and seamed and they hang really well. In toast trousers I'm usually a 6 especially if the waist is elasticated. I'd say these are bigger than usual

Yes, me too. Not really pleased with the large description. Makes me feel shit.

faustina · 30/12/2023 19:13

@Observed - the XXS are approx 41cm stretched (so 82cm all round). Hope that helps!

Observed · 30/12/2023 19:16

That's great, thank you very much @faustina - really appreciate it.

Think I'm going to go for it!

ScottishMouse · 30/12/2023 20:18

I had hoped there would be additional items added to the sale this evening. Checking back through my emails, this has happened at 7pm on the 30th for the last number of years. There are a few things that I have my eye on that I had hoped would hit the sale. Maybe tomorrow…

MiracleToast · 30/12/2023 21:54

Same @ScottishMouse they’re keeping us on our toes!

ScottishMouse · 31/12/2023 07:46

Totally @MiracleToast! Maybe this evening?
I have a couple of sale items and a couple of non-sale (potentially in next sale drop?) items in my bag and I’m dithering over whether to order or risk waiting.

WhompingWillows · 31/12/2023 17:03

I’m wary of being viewed as a spending enabler here, but has everyone seen the ROKA Lucky Dip game/thread? I really like the ROKA backpacks (teen DD has one as her school bag and it has survived three years of carrying kilos of books every day and the obligatory Stanley water bottle that could potentially be classified as an offensive weapon it’s so heavy). The great thing about them is that they’re fully machine washable (unlike Kankens). I opted for the large lucky dip (£29.99) and I got a bag with an RRP of £79.99. Even better, it is ORANGE! 😍 There is a separate thread, with a free delivery code that can be used for a £7.95 next day delivery option. Sorry for the non-Toast diversion!

mizu · 31/12/2023 20:24

@WhompingWillows yes! Saw it last year and it popped up on my Instagram this year. So tempted but I have two Roka backpacks already albeit in very dull colours.
