Thanks @OftenOrange and @Noeggsontoast !

Tempted to buy the sale greenish jacket/shirt at £65 as I think it might look ok over the Pond dress. Does anyone have it? If so, is it tts?

Thanks

faustina · 29/12/2023 20:39

Happy Birthday @Dee1224 ! Always nice to get deliveries on a special day, and now you have all the Christmassy things to look forward to next year - hoorah!

It sounds as If the humbug jumper might be promising for me when it arrives tomorrow. not worried about over long sleeves at all. I spend half my life with my sleeves pulled down over my hands so the longer the better!

I would also like to see a few new additions - fingers crossed for tomorrow being the day!

sonjadog · 29/12/2023 20:43

I got my first parcel today with the cotton velvet skirt in oil (dark green). I am very pleased with it. The colour is darker and more interesting than I thought. I have the chocolate velvet skirt in the same style already and wear it a lot, so the oil coloured one should be a useful addition.

impressivelycunty · 29/12/2023 20:43

I got my Toast x Solivair dark brown lace up boots today - they are beautiful and almost burgundy in colour. Got a 5 rather than my usual 6 as recommended on here, which was a bit of luck as there was only a 5 left. But the fit is perfect.

Dee1224 · 29/12/2023 20:50

Thanks @faustina - I am hoping for some new additions to the sale tomorrow!

HoldingOnForAHeron · 29/12/2023 20:58

I have those in burgundy rub off @impressivelycunty . Mine aren't from Toast.

WhompingWillows · 29/12/2023 21:37

Stoic123 · 29/12/2023 19:48

@Dee1224 - ha ha. I have also bought the table gifts and crackers without really knowing who to share them with (that appreciate them).

That's you and me sorted for the next 6 Christmases then 😂

@Stoic123 @Dee1224 maybe we could have a virtual Toast Christmas celebration next year - and ignore all the ungrateful heathens in our separate lives?!

Dee1224 · 29/12/2023 21:38

Good idea @WhompingWillows !

Stoic123 · 29/12/2023 21:42

@WhompingWillows - indeed. No one I know in RL would appreciate the cracker and table gifts as much as me and the fellow aficionados on this thread.

Stoic123 · 29/12/2023 21:48

@Dee1224 @WhompingWillows - that's my table setting sorted for next year.

@Stoic123 @Dee1224 ooh, fighting talk. Just you wait till I have finished my Toast willow wreath kit (I will have to open the box first). 🤣

Dee1224 · 29/12/2023 22:26

😹😹😹@Stoic123 - they are lovely ! I am wondering if I should go wild and pull a cracker this NY Day - just to get me in the mood.

@WhompingWillows - I liked the look of the wreath kit, but, given my total lack of craft skills, I knew I wouldn’t be able to do it. Looking forward to seeing yours when it’s done.

AFingerofFudge · 29/12/2023 22:57

@Dee1224 happy birthday for yesterday!!
I too received my orders today on my birthday which was a nice way to celebrate!! DH could say nothing as I got him to carry 3 heavy parcels up to our room to try on Grin

The cotton dhuggie- going back as quite snug around the thighs although fitted everywhere else.
The boatneck cotton gingham dress is staying- it is beautiful, as is the lofty alpaca cardigan which is also staying.
The indigo denim neat shirt dress was definitely very neat and I couldn't get it done up at the bust, so that is definitely going back.
The garment dyed Green jacket was way too big despite going for my usual size- going back
The slightly bizarre check cotton woollen trousers are a keeper, something very lovely about them despite having a strange cut.
The boat neck lime wool jumper is staying and I'm wearing it as I type.
The crinkle check dress - just no. The pockets were literally at my knees.

I did also get a selection of baubles, Angela Harding cards and crackers which will all be staying. Oh, and a couple of small square neck scarves - the orange and green ones.

I then went real life shopping as it was my birthday and bought some trainers and a bracelet. Better stop now Blush

Dee1224 · 30/12/2023 00:04

Happy birthday to you, too @AFingerofFudge - glad you found some lovely things to keep!

JustforToast · 28/12/2023 20:42

@Countmeout The Blackhorse lane jacket is €340 plus €20 postage to Ireland. Madness.

Yeah, Euro pricing the Toast way. Price in Euro is usually 1.5 times the price in GBP.
It irks me every time I place an order. They will probably defend it by them having added the VAT of the receiving country, but I believe they have forgotten to deduct the British VAT first.

BettinaInDenmark · 30/12/2023 00:38

OftenOrange · 29/12/2023 13:04

Order just arrived and after initially dismissing most : orange boat neck linen dress shapeless, sidebutton denim skirt underwhelming and Donegal dark olive coat massive ( big cardi really) I’m reconsidering the Donegal .
It looks so nice over a few of the dresses and great with écru jeans and a v neck jumper .Also lovely and warm as a big cardigan.

However it isn’t very flattering and I’m wondering if anyone has it and can comment on how they have found it? Storage , washing as well as wearing !

I got the olive donegal knitted coat last winter, and I absolutely love it.
It fits perfectly with the olive/lime/something checked dress I got at the same time, and my olive Blundstones

PretLea · 30/12/2023 08:21

Another happy belated @AFingerofFudge! Sounds like you had a lovely day. I wanted to ask about the gingham boat neck dress. I got it to try too and it’s a great fit for me. My only concern is the colour of it - I just thought it does nothing for my warmish-toned fairness. How does it work for you, if you don’t mind me asking?

AFingerofFudge · 30/12/2023 08:36

@PretLea I have quite pasty skin (!) so it doesn't seem to matter- a small advantage to having skin that is pale and doesn't tan!!!

Countmeout · 30/12/2023 08:58

Happy birthday @AFingerofFudge , great timing for the parcel!

Re them adding things to sale , I bought items from 11th January until 25th January, all sale, two orders were summer items and 1 Alix houndstooth woollen trousers but I have a feeling they might have been a previous winter season. There were some in this sale.

Regarding the gift vouchers, I have been bought one too, but mine got lost as DPD delivered it to the wrong address before Christmas, the replacement is not yet here. I am getting (more than) a little bit irritated with Toast for not even offering to refund the next day postage to the giver, who choose that method to ensure she was home to receive it, and who had to tell me the whole thing as it was a major part of my Christmas present .

I love the Donegal coat @OftenOrange . It’s a beautiful colour.

I am a member of the furoshiki table gifts club. I don’t intend to let anyone near them, I shall just caress them lovingly.

This thread has moved very quickly, so hard to keep up.

@AFingerofFudge happy birthday for yesterday.

I'm also a member of the table gifts club, looking forward to using them for dinners with friends.

I'm expecting more might get added to the sale once new year is over - fingers crossed for next week.

I buy in Euro too as I live in Norway. I actually think it is a better deal than buying in GBP and then paying customs duty when it arrives here. I haven't worked it out in detail, but I am pretty sure I paid more that way rather than when I pay it at Toast. The post office takes a hefty fee for calculating the duty, for one thing. Also, I like that I know the real total before buying as the customs duty was not always easy to exactly predict (well, it is possible, but I have never bothered to calculate it precisely).

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/12/2023 09:21

Happy belated birthday @AFingerofFudge and @Dee1224 .

I'm also waiting for more things to be added to the sale, I’ve bought very little compared to last year, although not necessarily a bad thing. I have managed to order some napkins and the socks I wanted this morning as there seems to be a little bit of restocking.
My second parcel is now not arriving until Tuesday, despite me ordering on the first day of the sale. Hopefully I am joining the furoshiki table gifts club but that order has yet to be despatched.

MrsCat1 · 30/12/2023 09:23

Thanks for the thought about the a-line jacket @PretLea, but it is the s/m size I'm definitely after as I have tried it on in that size. Sorry the smallest size was a no go for you.

My modest parcel arrived yesterday. A lovely plain black swimming costume and the Greta dress which are both keepers. I had also popped in the non sale Daisy print blue dress -just for fun (!)- but it is going back. The fabric is lovely though.

Countmeout · 30/12/2023 12:25

My sale buys have arrived. I ordered the Alix in 3 different fabrics - all spring summer weight. I thought I’d be returning the green/ navy checked ones but I really like them. The other 2 are navy with a stripe, one finer than the other. The ones which I think are this years new sizing, think there’s a matching dress, are too small, they’re sized xs, s, m etc. I ordered rather optimistically xs which I would usually do in an elastic waist - The others are the old 8 and very comfortable. Only planned on keeping 1 pair but will have a think. Fortunately prefer the strip of the size 8, they’ll look great with a white T-shirt.
Neat cardigan in Pea is a lovely colour in the flesh but a bit high in the neck and not sure I like the wool.
Cashmere wrap as expected.
wrapping paper has gone into my stash.
Table gifts so pretty. I’ve already stroked them.
