Thanks@WhompingWillows
I've been in the cult for a while 😂

PretLea · 29/12/2023 18:26

Thanks @Trinitybean, that’s really good to know. I’ll have to wait and hope for some returns, so I can reorder. I really do like the colour of it, but my gut feel is that anything bigger than a S will be too long in the sleeves.

MiracleToast · 29/12/2023 18:40

My parcel made it : )

Waxed hat—instant love. It is definitely neat but I can already envision the upgrade to my rainy walks.

Charcoal / graphite apron—surprisingly lighter in colour and at first look I thought they had sent me the navy / chestnut colour way.

Pressed flower cards—bought as I would like to start pressing my own flowers and thought I could decipher how to arrange from these.

Pillow case in assam—completing the pair as I already have one and it’s lovely.

Dee1224 · 29/12/2023 18:43

Hi all. It was my birthday yesterday so when both my parcels arrived today I was very pleased!

Unfortunately, my pleasure was short lived:

Linen jumpsuit - nothing wrong with it, just too small😿

Striped linen dress - didn’t fit. (I had tried this on in store a couple of months ago and loved it - I posted a pic at the time.) I am trying to convince myself that this is due to ‘wonky’ sizing, (rather than the more likely possibility that it’s me🙀).

Mariner top: Fitted but was ludicrously short - I don’t know who this would fit irl. (am only 5’4”!)

Cotton Fairisle tank: I had tried this before and regretted returning it so was pleased to see it back in the sale. Unfortunately it had one armhole much bigger than the other. An absolutely disgraceful failure of quality control 😹.

Blue floral nightie: Lovely, fitted nicely, suited me, but… one pocket stuck out - it seemed to have far more material on one side than the other. Another QC failure!

On the plus side: Keeping the completely unnecessary crackers and the equally unnecessary non-Japanese furoshiki boxes. Nobody apart from me will appreciate them at Deetowers, but I am thinking I can have one of each next Xmas and so on…

Feeling relatively virtuous as sent the returns back to Toast this pm!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/12/2023 18:50

That’s disappointing @Dee1224 , although very efficient with your returns. Also very annoying when you’ve previously tried things and then the sale purchases aren’t right. I wonder whether toast will sort out the QC problems eventually.

applecatchers36 · 29/12/2023 18:53

My sale parcel arrived today. The Astrid dress is a hit, quite low neckline am not sure could wear to work but have loved this since it first came out and couldn't resist in the sale.
The misses are the Selma print short dress and the dotty crêpe print dress ( which I had thought I would love). Both a bit shapeless although think I ordered the right size so am returning.

PretLea · 29/12/2023 19:06

Happy belated birthday @Dee1224!

Dee1224 · 29/12/2023 19:11

Thanks @PretLea - DH actually took me away overnight, (I was amazed), and our two adult DS agreed to look after our ridiculous animal. It was great, apart from oldest DS messaging me repeatedly around 2am to say that the dog was eating out of the bin🙀and generally being a pain. (I don’t quite know what he expected me to do about it - maybe give Ddog a stiff talking to over the phone!)

I have been looking at the Selma
What size did you get in relation to your RL size ?

Dee1224 · 29/12/2023 19:16

I forgot to say:

On our way home today, we stopped off in Toast, Richmond to see if there was anything I fancied, birthday-wise.

The rails were practically empty and there was very little homeware. It’s a small shop, but normally there’s lots on the rails. I saw a very nice velvet quilt, (but at £250, specialist clean only, it was a ‘no-no’). Apart from that, nothing caught my eye.

I was in and out in a couple of minutes. It was just weird seeing bare shelves, rails and walls.

Saurus72 · 29/12/2023 19:16

@applecatchers36 @Alpacasoft The Selma dress was a big mistake purchase for me in the summer. I bought it thinking it would be perfect belted to give it some shape. It kind of worked when I was standing still in front of a mirror but then walking around, the back of the skirt kind of bustled up. A seamstress tailored it in at the sides (losing the pockets sadly) so at least now it wearable. Good money after bad tho 🫤

Countmeout · 29/12/2023 19:18

Happy birthday @Dee1224 . The dog obviously hadn’t got the birthday memo.

@Noeggsontoast what did you think of the fabric in the non sale blouse? I like the style of it but wasn’t sure about the Lyocell. Also how was the fit?

applecatchers36 · 29/12/2023 19:22

Happy birthday Dee1224 great treat from your husband maybe your DS needs more training you will have to go away again!

Alpacasoft my usual size in other clothing e.g. M&S not sizing down as per old Toast ..I used their online size guide, the dress fitted but as Saurus72 says had no shape alas...

Alpacasoft · 29/12/2023 19:28

Thanks @Saurus72 and @applecatchers36

Now in a quandary.
Thing is the Dotty dress looked lovely on me as I have erm plenty of " shape" Grin so wondering if this might work on me?

Dee1224 · 29/12/2023 19:36

Thanks @Countmeout and @applecatchers36 !

Does anyone else find it weird that Toast haven’t really added much/anything new to the sale as time has gone on?

Usually there’s a constant drip feed of new sale items, (often at weird times like 3am), with one or two big additions. This time, I have only noticed the odd thing here and there.

FiddleFigs · 29/12/2023 19:42

My sale parcel also arrived. The Bryn leaves dress is lovely but going back - just doesn’t suit me.

Also going back is the Donegal grid jacket which was an odd fit - too short in the arms and an odd length. And quite itchy.

I’m happy with the breton top and the cobalt stripey top. Both will get a lot of wear.

I’ve got my eye on the forward seam cotton trousers - oos in my size, but hoping for one to pop up when returns start coming through.

Beginningless · 29/12/2023 19:43

Has anyone got the high neck cotton parka? Ordered this plus a few other sale items and am excited to see it!

Saurus72 · 29/12/2023 19:48

@Alpacasoft Ha! Like you I have plenty of ‘shape’. The issue with the Selma I found was the fabric doesn’t drape, it’s a crisp poplin. If the same dress was viscose it would work much better I think.

MiracleToast · 29/12/2023 19:48

Happy birthday @Dee1224 glad to hear you had a lovely time away.

Yes, I too am wondering when the next drop will be… eagerly awaiting my main contenders… could the bare shelves indicate a huge influx of stock into the sale?

Stoic123 · 29/12/2023 19:48

@Dee1224 - ha ha. I have also bought the table gifts and crackers without really knowing who to share them with (that appreciate them).

That's you and me sorted for the next 6 Christmases then 😂

Dee1224 · 29/12/2023 19:52

Thanks @MiracleToast - yes, I did wonder if the shop was so empty because stock had been sent off to the sale. (Alternatively, maybe there had been a frenzied present dash to Toast by the DHs of SW London on Xmas Eve and the empty shelves were the result!)

Glad it’s not just me @Stoic123 - we must remember to have a virtual Toast cracker pulling ceremony in solidarity next Xmas 😹

Nanasueathome · 29/12/2023 19:52

@Noeggsontoast
what size is the tie waist geometric dress you are returning please?
I need/want size L.
im waiting for a return as it’s currently oos

Dee1224 · 29/12/2023 19:54

I should have said:

I returned a M in the dark blue linen jumpsuit today - nothing wrong with it, it was lovely- in case anyone is watching for it.

Ditto the blue linen stripe dress in M.

The Mariner top was also M - but far too short for me.

OftenOrange · 29/12/2023 20:11

Happy Birthday @Dee1224 Your dog sounds so cute 🥰 and brilliant that you had a treat evening.Chance to wear nicest Toast !

Forgot to mention that there is a new Toast in Lambs Conduit Street .
Sauntered in with a Toast loving friend after a lunch at Caio Bella ( brilliant old style Italian ) , full of enthusiasm and lots of new pieces.
We didn’t stay however ,there were no customers but a knot of staff and loud cronies sharing in jokes near the till and ignoring us . It was preChristmas so par for the course , nevertheless a shame .

Noeggsontoast · 29/12/2023 20:16

@Dee1224 Happy birthday!

@Countmeout I really liked the fabric, it's like a silk but more practical, I like the hand feel makes it look a little dressier. It's boxy but neat so less fabric in the back than other blouses I've had in this style.

@Nanasueathome sorry it's an XS I'm returning. Fingers crossed one comes back in for you.
