@Snowyowl78 Yes I tried the batik dress - I went into the Mayfair store when a load of new stock had come in and tried this one, the Greta, the Garden Print and didn’t buy any but stored the Greta away in my mind for sale time!. I expected to love it but absolutely didn’t (when I tried it at full price, that was a big relief as it was soooo expensive). My personal view (not wanting to offend others who have it/love it) is that the fabric looked ‘flat’ and uninteresting to me, which I didn’t expect at all. It’s a great shape, but much more fitted than usual for Toast - I tried it on in my usual IRL size and definitely no downsizing needed!

@ScottishMouse A shame about the embroidered dress, I only wear mine belted so I can see that unbelted it would be very a-line.

ScottishMouse · 29/12/2023 14:00

@Snowyowl78 @Saurus72 , I did try it with the belt but for some reason I really don’t like belts or pulled in waists on me. It's fine though, I didn’t want to keep everything anyway.

Noodle421 · 29/12/2023 14:03

I also ordered the copper crinkle dress but it arrived with very few crinkles, as if the majority had been steamed or ironed out. I definitely prefer the full crinkle effect after trying it on in store so this is being returned. Not going to re order as I’ve already blown my budget with the other three items which are keepers.

Stoic123 · 29/12/2023 14:24

@Saurus72 - you're right. I keep on running upstairs to look at it and giggle so it's staying. Looks great with indigo denim (more 70s vibes) - goes well with my Toast denim pinafore and my denim 'pocket mushroom' dress.

PretLea · 29/12/2023 14:41

Talk about the Batik, I’ve just tried it on and it’s incredible. It was the one item I was determined to get on sale and I’m so thrilled I did. It’s neat and I don’t like tight clothing on my top half so I sized up. @Saurus72 @Snowyowl78

I went for the Greta in my usual size and whilst it does look great, if feels tight across/under my arms (I do have broad shoulders), though doesn’t look it. I think a size up would be big everywhere else. love the print and colours though.

@OftenOrange I also got the Donegal olive coat and it’s pretty big on me. I might have kept it but one of the pockets juts out into a noticeable bump and that annoys me.

MiracleToast · 29/12/2023 14:58

@Stoic123 absolutely agree that you should keep it! How often do we find things that bring that grin?!

@OftenOrange i have the big cardigan coats from the past few seasons—dark green and navy. I wash on cool wool wash in the machine and wear them both so often.

WhompingWillows · 29/12/2023 15:49

Merry Twixmas (what a ghastly word!) everyone! So, I am leaving a mega-tip for my long-suffering postie for the New Year as this morning he brought me:

The Greta Harlequin dress in a size up and I love it. In fact, if I could peel off the heated robe that has practically welded to my skin over Christmas, then I would most definitely be wearing it. Love it, love it, love it!

A Diamond Block gown - ditto!

3 x boxes of paper chains (I’ve foolishly agreed to a Harry Potter-themed house party plus sleepover for DD2’s eighth birthday in February) so these could make a good crafting activity to keep 10 little girls out of mischief.

Selwyn House black wood pizza board which I intend to use as my New Year’s Eve cheese board platter. I am thrilled with this as I have had my eye on it for years. It arrived looking a bit worse the west but I applied two layers of wood balm and now it is restored to its former glory.

A second box of furoshiki table gifts to supplement the one that’s been in use for Christmas and birthdays for two years.

Tomorrow, my poor weary postie will be delivering the navy blue Bryn dress and a willow wreath making kit.

All in all, I am supremely happy with my haul but I think I am fairly easy to please considering that the only Christmas gift I received was a solitary bar of Tony’s Chocoloney!

mizu · 29/12/2023 16:03

@WhompingWillows ooh envious of the paper chains, gorgeous colours this year. I have some up at the moment but last year's colours.

Sounds like a great few purchases.

OftenOrange · 29/12/2023 16:03

@Stoic123 @PretLea @Theteapotsbrokenspout @WhompingWillows and all whose Sale parcels have brought smiles and happiness 👏, thank you for sharing , it’s as much fun hearing about the items as it is receiving them.
@MiracleToast @HoldingOnForAHeron @faustina @Saurus72 Thanks for all the feedback on the Donegal coat , which which I wholeheartedly agree.
I’ve looked for a similar piece cheaper but nothing doing, except Lauren £257 in sale and this one was £ 130),
Perversely I’ve fallen in love with the colour and the warmth ( it’s twice the thickness of the Donegal jumpers which I don’t find very warm )
Story of my life,!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/12/2023 16:27

I managed to untangle my Kindred status muddle with chat and have ordered another tree topper, the table gifts (as everyone here recommends them Xmas Smile) and the Crinkle jumpsuit in a S.

I suspect it will be too long, but I have been spurred on by the comments made on here about the fabric being nicer than expected in the dress, so hopefully the jumpsuit will be similar.

Stoic123 · 29/12/2023 16:27

The love for the Greta and Crinkled dresses on here is making me have to sit on my hands. The Greta looks better the more I look at it. Also sat on my hands for the Citrus Green Tie Neck earlier but that's sold out in my size so temptation gone until returns start.

Agree that the crinkled dress needs to be really crinkled- the Toast live with Katrina Wilde (my fave guest prsenter this year) showed it at its best I think. Shame she didn't take her tank offin the vid.

@WhompingWillows - glad your sales haul is making up for dearth of Xmas presents!

@OftenOrange - agree about shared sales experiences.

Saurus72 · 29/12/2023 16:33

@Stoic123 Re: the Greta, I would say if you’re a fan of Toast viscose dresses, this is another lovely addition - something to wear c. 9 months of the year, with sandals or boots/wooly tights/jumpers. I’m hoping the smaller size works better for me, hearing about the tightness under the arms is making me wonder…

PretLea · 29/12/2023 16:54

@WhompingWillows - I’m going to try the Greta one size up, and hope it brings me as much joy as it has you. @Saurus72 I think my usual size is tight on me because as I mentioned I do have (what I’ve realised as unusually) broad shoulders. Hope the size down fits you through!

@OftenOrange the Donegal is certainly warm and cozy and I also love the colour. Did you try the Donegal grid jacket/cardigan? It’s a definite keeper for me - really great shape and very warm.

I also received the smallest size short a-line coat from Uniform Research and it swamps me, so it’s going back. I wonder, because it’s so oversized, if it might fit you @MrsCat1?

neveradullmoment99 · 29/12/2023 17:14

Has anyone got the bryn leaf print dress from the sale? Contemplating it! Did you size down or get your normal size?

neveradullmoment99 · 29/12/2023 17:15

I received the Greta Harlequin dress today and it is beautiful. Really pleased with it.

PretLea · 29/12/2023 17:26

@faustina did you receive the humbug jumper yet? Wondering how you (or anyone else?) found the fit…

faustina · 29/12/2023 17:29

@PretLea - it's being delivered tomorrow! I think I ordered that one in a large because people said to size up and I didn't want it to fit like it did the models- I'll post how it is tomorrow!

Countmeout · 29/12/2023 17:35

Love hearing about all your purchases. Nothing here yet, hopefully tomorrow.

@Stoic123 I recommend the Citrus tie neck dress , bought it in the last sale , I hope you get the chance to try it.
When today’s parcel arrived, I compared it to the items from the last sale .
That Citrus dress won hands down ( and it looks great under the Donegal coatigan!)

I shall wear it with brown sandals or White Vejas in Spring and Autumn , it may be limiting in that direction but it’s very flattering imo

@pretlea Now you’ve pointed it out the Donegal grid is really great , it’s got that effortless chic thing.

Sorry the jacket is too big , did you get XXS? It is kind of oversized on me but in a good way I hope ( Stares sadly at big Olive )

Noeggsontoast · 29/12/2023 18:01

It's been great reading up on all your sales purchases. Mine finally arrived late today. The velvet skirt in navy is not good for me. Far too much fabric and too long. Going back to uniform research.

The tie waist geometric dress. The fabric I felt was too light weight for this tie waist style which I have in a dress and a jumpsuit. I felt the tie was pulling the dress down from my neck resulting in it sitting forward on my shoulders. Being returned.

The greta dress is a big hit, but I have several in this style. I have a mohair cardigan from Brora (recent JL sale purchase) in the same red/burgundy colour to add a layer for winter and it's a perfect match.

The gingham tie waist blouse I am thinking about whether it has a real place in my wardrobe. It may be returned I think.

I also bought the non sale painted daisy shirt and it's perfect. Beautiful colours and print, neat fitting, full length sleeves, good button placement and will be worn a lot.

PretLea · 29/12/2023 18:04

@faustina I’ve had the strangest experience with it - tried the XS on in store months ago and it fit well, so I ordered the same size now and it’s definitely much smaller which makes the collar raise up. Doesn’t look nice. Would be nice to hear how you’ve found the L, thanks!

@OftenOrange I did try the XXS/XS size, but I don’t know why it just looked so big on me. I’ve also realised my arms are quite short and the sleeves almost covered my entire hands! But seems a really lovely, useful coat to have.

Popplebop · 29/12/2023 18:06

Well my sale parcel(s) arrived, thanks to @Saurus72 for the shout out. I am keeping the v-neck jaquard knitted tank which had been on my ‘want’ list since it appeared. Wool and a bit scratchy but will wear over tops so it will be fine. Also ordered the greeting card set of 3 that are lovely. Also keeping the green version of the quilted needle cord jacket - bought the cream version earlier this year and it fits me really well and I do love a new jacket 😂. Going back- brown velvet skirt impulse buy that I wanted to love but was waaay to long (I am 5’ 3) and just looked droopy. And very wrinkled.

Trinitybean · 29/12/2023 18:10

I've just got the humbug @PretLea in a large, it is not large! I like the wool if a bit scratchy, it's not the most flattering could probably do with a bigger one, I'm a 12 on top at least! I'm still recovering from being a large in the PJs!

Alpacasoft · 29/12/2023 18:13

My sale parcel arrived
Green Dotty an absolute keeper, lovely dress
Denim jumpsuit fits so well, almost full length.
Blue Bryn
This is where it gets interesting
The small fitted me fine but the medium elevated it into a completely different dress.
It draped beautifully across the shoulders and arms , not much difference in the waist or skirt.
Needless to say I kept the medium
Astrid dress was very blah, not particularly well made, loose threads, the neckline was poorly stitched .

Having been very anti viscose I just love the Toast crepe😂
