3 of my 4 orders are due tomorrow. Excited! Although I must be strict and really only keep things that are perfect. Out of what I have ordered, I am most hoping that the Cheaney brogues and the embroidered dress are great. The other things are all things I have either tried before and put on the long finger for the sale, so who knows if I will still like them as much, or things I haven’t tried but am less hopeful about. I’ll report back (although it will surely be a miracle if all 3 parcels actually turn up and don’t get stuck in the Swansea black hole).

This brand would appeal to many Toasties I think
https://www.katebarton.co.uk/

Stunning clothes, terrible customer service. Like really awful. I wouldn’t spend another penny with them ever

I order up this today. I could do with more summer dresses and it has a good reduction. Not 100% sure on the style, but the reviews seems to suggest it is nicer than it looks in the photos.

I’ve got this, it is lovely. Looking forward to wearing it 😀

BettinaInDenmark · 26/12/2023 17:44

I am contemplating the Alder check seersucker dress - could someone tell me if it is see-through and if the armholes are deep and bra-showing?
Thanks in advance!

I’ve got this. Not see through at all. A bit on big size, I am 14 chest, 12 is fine. I ordered 14 in previous sale and had to return as gaping around arm holes. Reordered 12 and perfect. The dress is lovely, so much better than photos

MsDastardley · 28/12/2023 20:29

As cord trousers are often discussed here, I would like to recommend these https://www.broraonline.com/uk/corduroy-pull-on-trousers-black-dt8301kf8239. They are very flattering. I think mine were 115 in John Lewis sale. Brora starts early new year

HoldingOnForAHeron · 28/12/2023 12:25

@JustforToast , I've not seen it or tried it on but it looks like it would last forever.
Work Jacket | French Work Jacket | Bleu de Travail | Carrier Company might be one to compare it with, and the Toast one looks worth the difference.
Work Jacket | LABOUR AND WAIT. I've ordered from L&W and their quality is excellent
Le Laboureur (Buy Le Laboureur clothing online @Union Clothing - trusted since 1987 | Union Clothing) is IMO the definitive one

Companies like M&S make perfectly OK versions. Save The Sea Chore Jacket in Navy | Finisterre is a good price.

I'm a 'real deal' person and have a LL one, but the Toast one looks nicer to me.

Thanks for this @HoldingOnForAHeron . Lots of brands here which are new to me but very appealing. I like the extra length on the Toast Blackhorse Lane one. Will give it another few days thought

HoldingOnForAHeron · 28/12/2023 20:35

Get it.

JustforToast · 28/12/2023 20:42

@Countmeout The Blackhorse lane jacket is €340 plus €20 postage to Ireland. Madness.

neveradullmoment99 · 29/12/2023 08:14

@JustforToast I have this seasalt one. I love it.

Countmeout · 29/12/2023 08:43

@JustforToast that is dreadful given the £/€ exchange is about £1.15. I am not sure how customs duty works to you but I assume that is included? Obviously you can’t do it for sale stuff but I think I would be taking a flight a few times a year to do my buying, it’s bound to work out cheaper over a couple of items given I can, if I’m organised, pick up a flight for about £85 return from where I am.

I have the Hal jacket, it’s only 4 cm shorter. And only £165 full price. Not sure how that works out in Euro.

First order has arrived, really pleased with the Pintuck Gingham top , I did size up to a large to prevent any gaping at the bust.
Not so pleased with the tree topper, although it’s really nice it has arrived in a broken box and all bent, I might order another one to see if that’s any better.
I also managed to order the wrong socks and the ones I wanted are oos.
Hopefully I will do better with my parcel arriving tomorrow.

Our Charcoal/Natural Pintuck Cotton Gingham Top is crafted from cotton gingham. It has a band collar, dropped sleeves and waist ties.

Noodle421 · 29/12/2023 11:50

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I’m very pleased with my pin tuck gingham blouse too which arrived this morning. (I much prefer to tie it at the back) and the rest of my sale haul - the batik skirt, it’s a beautiful shape/colour and will work across all seasons. I love the Sturlini tasselled loafers too but need to walk around the house with them to check my heel doesn’t slip out when the leather loosens a little ( I have a high in step). Good luck everyone with all your sale purchases.

TerrierOrTerror · 29/12/2023 12:25

My sale order is a bit of a mixed bag. Love the copper crinkly dress (still think it runs big though, I ordered two sizes and have kept the XS). No idea why the pockets are basically at my knees though.

Ordered some socks but they are poor quality, thin and scratchy. I also ordered the Maple paper garland which whilst beautiful is still very overpriced at the sale price so in the interest of paying for all the sale orders from elsewhere I will return.

MiracleToast · 29/12/2023 12:28

Still patiently awaiting my sale parcel to arrive, here.

Glad to read there have been some successes and also some returns (thinking ahead of further additions)

On that note, does anyone have an inkling of when that may be—I’m expecting further markdowns and the inclusion of some more pieces—any guesses?

Snowyowl78 · 29/12/2023 12:37

Got some things today. Can’t decide in the Greta between the 10 and 12 but will keep one. I got the one size ‘embroidered’ shirt, it’s not really embroidered. It’s very cool and feels great but very voluminous! It’s a maybe (probably) I might buy a thin leather belt from cos to tie it. The Sturlini Chelsea brown boots, strong maybe, but hard to get on, I assume will loosen up! Stripe placket v neck top, very low and didn’t do me any favours- returning!

Stoic123 · 29/12/2023 12:56

Sales packages arrived.

Baubles/ crackers/winter cards lovely as expected, the table gifts even nicer than expected, the paper chain will look gorgeous up next Xmas and the planner is a bit meh (but I will keep as will use myself instead of gifting).

Of the 2 clothes items - the drawstring tunic dress is perfect for me. Not a wardrobe gap as such but I will reach for it regularly. Easy keep.

I'm wavering over the Shetland Jumper in brown multi which is nicer in real life. It's a good price (£70), great quality and suits me. But I really, really don't need it. What's really making me reluctant to return it is that something about it just makes me grin. I probably wore something similar in the 70s and nostalgia is giving me the warm and fuzzies. Going to sleep on it/mull a bit more.

OftenOrange · 29/12/2023 13:04

Order just arrived and after initially dismissing most : orange boat neck linen dress shapeless, sidebutton denim skirt underwhelming and Donegal dark olive coat massive ( big cardi really) I’m reconsidering the Donegal .
It looks so nice over a few of the dresses and great with écru jeans and a v neck jumper .Also lovely and warm as a big cardigan.

However it isn’t very flattering and I’m wondering if anyone has it and can comment on how they have found it? Storage , washing as well as wearing !

HoldingOnForAHeron · 29/12/2023 13:08

@OftenOrange , it's lovely but you look like a little kid in her dad's cardigan

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/12/2023 13:15

I’m just trying to order a few more bits and now being charged delivery - I’m kindred but when I look on my account that has disappeared. Beginning to feel I can’t be bothered.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/12/2023 13:20

Chat function won’t work either 🤷‍♀️

faustina · 29/12/2023 13:22

@OftenOrange - I think it's a beautiful colour and can see how it would be really useful. They did one very similar a while back and I tried it on - it was really just the wrong side of oversized and drowned me but my friend who's taller bought it and it looked amazing on her

The check wool cotton trousers have arrived and I'm not sure - they are lovely in a very eccentric way. They are still cropped enough even for someone as short as me (5'4) - was worried they'd be full length. Size wise, they are the same as the old sizing. The XXS is fine, and the XS is fine too but a bit less fitted on the hips. Will try on again later and see if I can convince myself they don't look too pyjama like

Saurus72 · 29/12/2023 13:22

@OftenOrange I would perhaps ask yourself is there another version of that big cardi/coat for perhaps less money elsewhere? I have similar from Jigsaw bought in the sale for £50-70 that I live in for wfh. Do you love the Donegal?

@Stoic123 If the jumper makes you happy I say keep it, quite difficult to find things you absolutely love IME.

@Snowyowl78 Greta - mine just arrived and for some unknown reason I ordered it in a 14 so inevitably it’s too big. I’m returning and will reorder in a 12. Do you love yours? I’m not 100% sure on it, though I think I’ll keep it as it seems like a really useful dress. I’m returning the Hiko PJ bottoms - I bought 2 pairs of jersey PJs in the White Company sale that are really soft and slinky, so I think they’re a better buy. I’m keeping the little embroidered pouch, I love little pouches for inside bigger bags.

Question - I had a Toast GV for Christmas (yay, lucky me!). If I reorder the Greta dress in a smaller size and pay using the GV, what happens if I then return it? Do I get an online credit (it’s a physical gift card)? May be easier to keep the FV until I buy something I will 100% keep? Any previous experience shared very welcome, thank you. Loving reading the sale verdicts 😊

Snowyowl78 · 29/12/2023 13:31

@Saurus72 sadly no one has ever bought me a voucher! I’d guess you’d get credit though.

I do love it and I’ll keep one. It certainly looks better in the smaller size. Some of my easy dresses look a bit slouchy sometimes and I think this is a nice alternative- comfy and roomy but smarter due to the more structured top end. I also got the embroidered dress which I’ve tried before

ScottishMouse · 29/12/2023 13:32

My sale parcels all arrived too.
I also ordered the gingham pintuck top but am not sure. The shape is a little a-line for my large bust, I don’t absolutely love it on me.
The ikat culottes are a keeper, but I had tried them on at full price so knew that. Elastic waist is tighter than I would have expected but otherwise my usual size is good.
The Selma dress I was sure would be another keeper as I had tried it on when it first came out. But either this one is smaller cut than the one I tried or I am bigger (let’s face it, more likely!) and it is a bit tight on the bust. I would reorder but this size is now oos. Might stalk returns and see.
The embroidered dress is terrible on me. Too a-line and too long.
The pintuck white shirt is lovely and a good fit on the bust and shoulders in a M but just too long and billowy on the bottom half. Makes me look pregnant.
The linen stripe dress is lovely but too tight in a M on the bust. Not fab enough to bother trying a L though.
The Cheaney brogues are beautiful, but I may be between sizes. The 5 is too narrow for my wide feet, but I think the 6 may be too long. I need to try them on again.
So, only one definite keeper, and will try the Selma, the gingham pintuck shirt and the brogues again later.

Snowyowl78 · 29/12/2023 13:37

@Saurus72 have you tried the Batik dress? I thought that was lovely but it was a bit of a statement for me to wear generally so I thought I probably wouldn’t put it on much. I’d like it on someone else though!

@ScottishMouse oh dear on the embroidered, were you not keen with the belt either? Im going to wear mine with the belt.
