As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads (though also happy for contents of those to be shared here too).

As previously, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - food, jam, socks anyone?

Please do not include spoilers before 7am on the relevant day. Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

I’ll be opening the Vogue and Selfridges calendars this year. Really looking forward to Day 1.

Day 19 a Boots black eyeliner. One that's like a felt tip pen.

SwordBilledHummingbird · 19/12/2023 16:32

@Doubleraspberry I'm not sure a perfume exists that can make me feel like a grown-up 😂

snowfootsteps · 19/12/2023 17:12

Day 19 By Terry is Lip Expert in Chili Potion (RRP£29) - a nice orangey red. Two red lipsticks in a row. Skincare was bunched up at the beginning of the month- would have preferred more mixing.

Pinenu · 19/12/2023 19:49

I miss the tights.

I miss the tights.

Me too.

The world's tiniest deodorant (for people with very small armpits?) in H&B today. It describes itself as 'sea salt and cotton', which sounds itchy.

@Dee1224 , I haven't tried the shampoo yet but will report when I do!

Roundaboot · 19/12/2023 21:58

@CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan is it a Wild one? I really rate their deodorants and the small ones are handy for travel.

Peppercorns in Degustabox today. Not very exciting at all!

Mirrormeback · 20/12/2023 07:13

I have voucher today for a Boots No 7 Moisture rich lipstick

Day 20

Vogue: The Seated Queen Infinite Ointment. Had to look up what this was for. Apparently it’s an oil which can be used on face, hands, lips or nails. There is also a suggestion it can be used as a brow gel, cheek highlight or eye gloss for a “wet eye” look. Think I’ll give that option a miss…

Selfridges: Dermalogica Milkfoliant cleanser, travel size. Happy enough with this, it will definitely get used.

@Mirrormeback does a voucher mean you get to choose the colour? That’s a great idea if so.

@AprilLady yes, it does which is a winner for me.

TragicMuse · 20/12/2023 07:45

LF is Avant Hyaluronic acid molecular boost eye cream. One for the stocking possibly. I have a lot of little eye creams already! My mum might like it.

Ciate is another pink. Called Cupcake Queen, it's more Barbie to me. Wearable in summer I think!

The winter light is low today so pics are a bit dim. Chiaroscuro, I'd say!!

Hi @Roundaboot , yes, it is - that’s good to know!

DoD here today: eco toothpaste with herbs. I don’t like toothpaste to taste of anything but mint, it’s just wrong.

Mirrormeback · 20/12/2023 07:54

Yes it does which is great plus it's valid for 6 months ish

I wore the lip gloss I got a few days ago on top of my Lisa Eldridge Fawn lippy and it looked so lovely and glossy.

Made me look more polished.

It's not sticky either which is a bonus

I'm using so many products already because they've balanced them out well.

Mirrormeback · 20/12/2023 07:58

I'd be happier with cashmere socks and Dermalogica though so maybe next year I'll go back to JL AC

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 20/12/2023 08:01

No7 Ultimate is an eyeshadow trio in ‘Sunset’ which are colours I wear. Lancôme is Absolue Crème Fondant is a facial moisturiser that smells of rose which is lovely. It’s a 15ml jar which is worth £60!

@AppleDumplingWithCustard they're good colours I like them

My eyeshadows last for years

But I've been making myself wear my CT quad I got in a JL AC more. Brown and golds gorgeous.

I have a Mac eyeshadow which I've pretty much worn everyday for the last 10 years at least and it's still going strong. It's like the magic porridge pot that just keeps on giving. I haven't even hit the pan and it's only a small round single pot

bigdecisionstomake · 20/12/2023 08:51

Day 20 Harrods (eeeek can’t believe we’re so far through December already 😳) is Bobbi Brown pot rouge for lips and cheeks in powder pink. I thought it sounded like a pale pink but in reality it’s quite a dark tawny pink so will suit most people I think. Happy with this although not terribly exciting.

Boots Premium - Drunk Elephant jelly cleanser.

I was excited initially as I assumed it would be like a balm but then I saw the "add water" in the instructions so it seems to be more like a foaming cleanser, which I am not a fan of. I'll give it a go and see anyway.

Day 20 Diptyque: 10ml Tam Dao perfume.

I like this one so I'm pleased with this.

Peridot1 · 20/12/2023 11:40

@OchonAgusOchonOh - I think the addition of water is to emulsify the cleanser rather than make it foam.

I got fed up of my Bonne Maman calendar taking up space in the kitchen and it was recycling day yesterday so I opened the whole thing so I could get rid of the box. More jams, tea and a final surprise. And for some reason I am going through a marmalade phase so not really fancying jam…….

I'm very happy is this is one of my regular RP's.

It's like a balm in that you smoosh it all over, then emulsify and rinse.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 20/12/2023 17:34

@Peridot1 and @Babysharkdoodoodood that sounds much better then. It's the water everywhere I dislike about foaming cleansers. I'm a total klutz so end up soaked. So long as it's just a little water to emulsify and I can clean it off with a cloth it should be fine.
