General “waifs and strays” beauty advent calendar opening thread

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads (though also happy for contents of those to be shared here too).

As previously, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - food, jam, socks anyone?

Please do not include spoilers before 7am on the relevant day. Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

I’ll be opening the Vogue and Selfridges calendars this year. Really looking forward to Day 1.

Day 11 Harrods is the Christophe Robin cleansing purifying scrub which is a detoxifying shampoo. This is a DoD for me. I do use it very occasionally but could live without it in my life.

Lancôme today is a Rose Absolue toning lotion and No7 Ultimate is a Lift & Luminate Triple Action primer.

H&B was a bar of Faith in Nature lavender soap. Not excited but I expect I'll use it eventually.

Boots Premium was a travel size Liz Earle cleanse/polish thing and a muslin.

I'm very happy with that.

I am not sure how I feel about these. I know they are not even mine, but you get what I mean 😂

I don't even possess a pair of tights (I live in a hot country but maybe I need to consider a pair for winter) but these just look so... odd. Isn't the point of these tights to keep all of you warm all over, including helping with a bit of chub rub if one is afflicted with this issue.

I do like the bright green, and they seem to be able to cover everything 😀

Charlotte Tilbury mascara in Vogue this morning! Very happy with that.

Day 11

Vogue: Full size Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk mascara. It promises to make you look like you have false eyelashes on; not sure that is a recommendation for a 50 something, but happy to give it a try. One of the nice things about Vogue has been how much is full sized; admittedly what one expects for the price.

Selfridges: Penhaligon’s Halfeti 10ml nicely boxed. When I tried this some time ago I thought it wasn’t for me. Might try again though as I know it’s really popular.

@bigdecisionstomake I use that shampoo quite often. My hair feels really clean afterwards, but I find you do need to use a good moisturising conditioner after.

Thanks for the tip @AprilLady perhaps that's where I've been going wrong with it then. I had a colour at the weekend so I'll give it a go this morning as I read somewhere it's good for cleansing the scalp of any residual product.

Day 11 Diptyque: 10ml Do Son shower oil.

I'm looking forward to trying this, though from the description I think it's one I'm more likely to use it in Spring/Summer.

@bigdecisionstomake Please feel free to use it, as my gift to you. In fact, I think everyone on the thread should get a turn in using the pass.

@Dogsitterwoes am I seeing right? are they crotchless tights?

The first place my mind went to was that they’d come in handy for a smear test. But I accept that’s not the most festive outlook.

Loving hearing about everyone’s calendars! I feel like the opening threads are much less active than last year though? Might just be me!
SpaceNK has been fab so far. Today was a cooling eye balm with a hint of shimmer by Tula. I have super sensitive eyes so have to be careful with these things but I love the brand and this balm feels amazing! A lovely treat which I probably wouldn’t have bought had it not been for the calendar!

Day 11 my sister has given me... Hotel Chocolat chocolate! Yum. Gone already.

Day 10 of Soap and Glory was some gel under eye patches and day 11 was a lip mask.

Today's JM was a wood sage and sea salt hand and body cream, and Lumene is a little pot of Nordic bloom collagen essence.

@lookingforMolly I think your sister has done a wonderful job! That chocolate wouldn’t have lasted long with me either.

@Squishmymallow the Space NK product sounds really interesting, not something I have come across before.

My home made F&M box one had a rather nice Sunday Riley duo of night oil and vit C serum today - v small sizes but still lovely! Yesterday was a Noom pillow spray, also great.

Today in Ok Advent was this mini make up set. Could be useful maybe. I like the fact it supports a cancer charity so I hope Ok Magazines paid a decent amount for this product for the charity as I am sure every buyer of the advent would be happy to support it.
I think I missed yesterday posting it was a gold loose powder eyeshadow. I haven’t dared unpack as I fear being covered in the stuff . Looks like a nice colour from what I can see of it but can’t see me using

My Day 9 in the Restore & Renew was different from yours. I got a No7 Protect & Perfect Lip Care 10ml. I haven’t opened a box with an eyeshadow…at least yet. Curious!

LF today is a cheek and lip 'balm'. It's looks quite a dark colour so possibly not for me. I don't know if my cheeks need balm...

Ciate is a pink. It's not as dark as the picture suggests - more like slightly-darker-than-germolene. Nice! Very wearable I think.

H&B is a serum, which is good. I was wanting one of those. The brand is Antipodes, which I’ve never heard of- anyone know anything about them?

A foaming cleanser in todays no7 lift and luminate. Will definitely use this one 😊
