Husband called my new slippers 'you've let yourself go' slippers.

I brought some new slippers recently - nice sheepskin ones from John Lewis which I thought looked nice.

I wore them yesterday evening after a hot bath. My husband looked at them, laughed, and in a semi-joking way said they should be called 'you've let yourself go' slippers.

Could anyone recommend some comfy slippers that look like they could be shoes, and cover the whole foot (so not ballet pumps)?

Clearly my husband finds them very unsexy.

Hmm. OK. Slippers don't need washing daily, perhaps that's behind the insane idea of wearing indoor shoes indoors.

My husband calls my slippers my contraception replacement 🤣. He encourages the dog to take them only ( loves to walk around with ashoe in his mouth)

I love them. To me those slippers say I love myself and I care about being warm and comfy.

For a joke I'd buy a quilted housecoat, you know the flammable type nans wore in the 70s, pop a few curlers in, slip your feet into your slippers and let him have a nervous breakdown 😂

Pretty certain my granny used to have this exact pair , back in the 80s.
God I miss her, but not her awful slippers. Having said all that, she died of old age, not a terrible fall, likely because of the slippers.

I was jumping on the thread to say the exact same thing.

Loads of young "influencers" wearing those Ugg Tazz slippers as well. They wear them as outside shoes too. Molly-Mae wears them all the time.

Here's a picture of my DH's slippers. Not exactly alluring....

He thinks his are nicer than mine. He would point out that he only wears them occasionally, not all day (like I often do in the winter).

I'm imagining the look on my downstairs' neighbors' faces if I swapped my slippers for clogs.

I've just had a flashback to my lovely auntie sending me a pair of slippers that she'd bought for herself (when she was in her mid seventies and me in my thirties) but decided she didn't need.

They were the whole bootie-nine-yards. Ankle boot of tartan wool with velcro fastenings - simply the most horrific slipper ever known to man. Too nasty even for my aunt, but apparently all right for me!
