Husband called my new slippers 'you've let yourself go' slippers.

I brought some new slippers recently - nice sheepskin ones from John Lewis which I thought looked nice.

I wore them yesterday evening after a hot bath. My husband looked at them, laughed, and in a semi-joking way said they should be called 'you've let yourself go' slippers.

Could anyone recommend some comfy slippers that look like they could be shoes, and cover the whole foot (so not ballet pumps)?

My husband and I both joke about each other choices sometimes, doesn't stop either of wearing or buying what we want

I love slippers. Sheepskin slippers are the best. Slippers are not sexy. I don't care.

I am always barefoot or wearing socks. Husband the same.

I think you should wear whatever slippers you want. Having said that, I am 69, and no way would I wear those slippers. No, slippers are not meant to be sexy and mine aren't but neither do I want slippers that look like a 100 year old would wear them

I'd lusted over the W&B and got them delivered from the States but as one review says, they're ornamental and perfect for dinner parties, but not walking 😅. Had to send them back unfortunately.

Don't look much different to the ultra short Uggs the kids are wearing with UO jogging pants and hoodies - so tell him you are embracing your inner teenager. I actually have them to pull on to do the school bus run at 7am, anyone challenging my fashion sense at the time in the morning would get short shrift from me 😁

If DH said this to me I'd laugh in his face and then start regularly doing a sexy slipper dance wherever I was wearing them. When I was pregnant it was winter and I was cold, DH had a furry Chewbacca onesie that he'd worn once as fancy dress which I adopted as a sort of house coat. The cat loved it and DH just needs to count himself lucky that he gets to hang out with me

I just wear socks 🤷🏼‍♀️(never worn slippers, have wooden floors downstairs). Your house would have to be very cold if socks are not enough to keep them warm (im thinking cottages with stone floors are probably the only homes that really need slippers).

I'm the same. I don't wear slippers just chunky socks if it's cold.

There are some really lovely slipper socks out there at the moment, but i’ll buy them as gifts purely for the novelty of wearing reindeer or fox socks 😀 Actual slippers in our home (which is still a 1930’s home), would be pointless. Socks do the job.

I have Birkenstock Boston shearling clog slippers. My DP hates them so much, but actually bought them for me last Christmas because he knows I love the shoe version of them that I already had.

Yours are fine, OP. I teach undergraduate level and lots of the girls wear similar as actual outside footwear.
