Husband called my new slippers 'you've let yourself go' slippers.

I brought some new slippers recently - nice sheepskin ones from John Lewis which I thought looked nice.

I wore them yesterday evening after a hot bath. My husband looked at them, laughed, and in a semi-joking way said they should be called 'you've let yourself go' slippers.

Could anyone recommend some comfy slippers that look like they could be shoes, and cover the whole foot (so not ballet pumps)?

Clearly my husband finds them very unsexy.

I agree that they do look like nursing home slippers (sorry!). But as others have said, I cant think of any slippers that are sexy and the purpose of them is to have warm feet. What about slipper socks?

I think they are fine. I don’t like bootee slippers or indeed fluffy ones as my feet get a bit hot and pongy in them. I have moshulu slippers

These are cute slippers but they make me feel so happy to be single because, in the context of the op, they seem about appearing “sexy” to a dh who doesn’t deserve to be catered to in that way. I could see how it might matter in a brand new relationship where there is an element of play acting but not in a long term relationship.

What slippers are sexy, apart from the furry/feathery stiletto mules of decades ago, perhaps set your husband a 'sexy slippers for Christmas' challenge. Think the John Lewis ones would look better in another colour.

If there’s a ‘you’ve let yourself go’ category (I’m not convinced on that description), all slippers are in it.

I hate the feminine aesthetic that predominates these days - it is a drag aesthetic, a caricature of the feminine - young girls with beetles on their eyelids; a different face than their own painted on using “contouring”; fake this that and the other, implants and silicone lips. And now we can’t even relax in our pyjamas with our cosy slippers. Fuck that.

Arguably the fluffy, stiletto heeled slippers are the least alluring of all the slipper options. Even full on tartan granny boot slippers may be sexier than them.
