£500 M&S order - want to know what I bought?

I know I’m not the only one who thinks M&S are having a great season so thought I would share my huge order - see the photos in the post below. It’s a mix of work wear and casual wear.

I’ve chosen pieces that will work with my version of a capsule autumn/winter wardrobe and will compliment the following items that I seriously love:

Bottoms
Hush leather culottes
Dorothy Perkins leather pinafore
H&M high waisted black trousers - I sized down for a more fitted look
M&S Black leather leggings
Primark midaxi leather pencil skirt
Primark black slip dress which I will wear as a skirt

Tops
H&M brown/grey sweater
Part Two Gertie black and white striped sweater
Stitch Fix Editor’s Cut oversized light grey button cardigan (no link)

Shoes
White chunky Fila trainers
Fitflop tan Allegro flats
M&S Chelsea knee high boots

Accessories
Accessorize black cross body bag

Some stuff is sold out or doesn’t have any links because it’s old. Please can you share what’s in your capsule wardrobe to give me some ideas!

The fit flops are comfortable, supportive ballet pumps, great if you have plantar fasciitis. I have a 10 minute fast walk to and from the station everyday and I can wear them without shooting pains in my feet. Very expensive for around the house though!

Do people need talc for pleather? My items are all lined on the inside with a soft material and I tend to run cold so maybe that’s why I’m comfortable in it.

Well, most of the things you bought aren’t even from M&S so I’m not sure why you’re advertising it as an M&S thread. And all that fake leather is not my scene.

I do think they have a few nice things at the moment though, and I’m going to get the advent calendar.

I have also bought 2 pairs of wide legged cords and a pair of cord leggings. A black jumper which has buttons across 1 shoulder, a pleather midi skirt and was looking at the short sleeved sparkly sequinned top today but might leave that as I saw a nicer long sleeved one in Peacocks today as part of the Louise Redknapp range.
I love those real leather culottes and wish I had seen them when they had them in stock.

@Mumsanetta I love the first two M&S skirts that you've ordered and the belt.

Toast runs big so I size down. They will
last for years though. I wear mine with my black chelsea doc Martin boots.

I also have a pair of brown boots from Clark’s which are lovely. I wants blundstones though.

Ha! the link put the shiney ochre boot picture up but mine are a matte black and very comfy .

I wear non leather/pleather by choice and I don't need any talc either ..

Yes they do sell other brands - Hobbs, White Stuff, Phase 8, Benefit, Jaeger, Sea Salt etc. These are on line brands they sell plus others.

I’m only buying M&S in store after finding their sizing and quality so inconsistent. I got 4 long sleeved t shirts which I do like but had to return as they were no way a size 12. More a 14. I returned them and tried the 10 on in store and they were fine. I am not a size 10. Nice cotton and reasonable price though.

just returned PJs ordered online. Really thin cotton so no good for cold winter weather, weird fit - Size medium top was at least a large and pants around 10-12. So they went back. Bought pjs for DGS. The 5-6y were so long in top and pants they’d nearly have fit me at 5’1”. The 8-9 y the same. Only the legs on those were just the right length for me.

The women’s trouser length is unfathomable. Even the shortest length are way too long for me but were fine for my friend who is 5’4. After the last order I’ve given up with online.

@BowlOfNoodles thank you! I would never have bought them off the rail but a friend of mine had them and they looked fab on her.

@Cropcycle I know what you mean and I think it’s partly down to vanity sizing. I don’t usually have an issue with M&S tops but their trousers definitely have weird sizing.

Do you expect to keep everything? If I ordered that many items in one go (from one shop or many) I would expect only about 10% to be right! What if you don’t like the fabric or they don’t fit nicely? Will you seek out the other items from another shop or will you leave it? I’m quite fascinated by the idea of just being able to buy nearly a whole wardrobe in one go and being satisfied with it all!

I wore the M&S leather leggings to do the school run today and I’m not sure how to style them. My usual linen shirt and legging combo didn’t work as well. Perhaps I need a heavier shirt eg plaid? Styling tips very much appreciated. I’ve got wide hips, a bum and tum so tend to prefer to keep them covered when in leggings so I wouldn’t ordinarily style as shown on the M&S model.
