I thought I'd do a Xmas edition of the styling threads I've done before for anyone who is interested 🎄👠

Thanks @frillseeking thats really helpful. Think I need to take a shopping trip wearing them and try a few styles. I think my current options are either too tight, too short or too loose in the leg. I’ve attached some photos of me trying them out with different styles (please excuse the filthy mirror!). Do you see what I mean about side on? The pale blue slim leg ones I think look best and I wore them out with a black pair in a similar shape but don’t have a photo of those. I think I’m looking for a slightly wider straight leg?

@FifthTimeLucky5 yes I agree the last pair do look the best as they're not too tapered at the ankle. See like these straight leg ones from Zara- they're straight but not tapered at the bottom so they sit a lot better with an ankle boot. I do think they look great with the cropped ones you're wearing too, they look great on you! Hard to tell without seeing how they look when you move but I wouldn't give up on this combo!

@MandaLynn love that top, did you manage to get your hands on one? I think it's been a sell out. H&M have some amazing party pieces in at the moment! I think it would look great with jeans. I'd love to see it with something like these silver jeans (my obsession with silver continues 😀)

@frillseeking I've ordered it - hoping it fits!

I definitely could not pull off silver trousers, as cool as those are

frillseeking · 17/11/2023 10:17

@MandaLynn let us know how you get on!

@frillseeking I’ve just ordered this skirt in slate and claret and it’s surprisingly flattering on my 5ft 3, recently postpartum apple shape.

Can you recommend a top for me to wear with one of them for Christmas day? I’m breastfeeding and would normally do a one up, one down with a chunky knit but MIL’s house is boiling and I’ll be doing lots of running around after babies and toddlers.

@CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair I can't see a link, can you share? Thanks

@CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair I'd wear a wrap top style, either a top or cardigan so that you're not too hot but can feed easily

@CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair or something like this cute cardigan with a vest underneath. I've bought this myself to wear with a silver pleated skirt and it's not too heavy (I get very hot at my parents house 😂 it must be an older generation thing!)

Sorry @frillseeking me again!

I bought the mint velvet silver suit in the end and I LOVE it - but am struggling with what to wear underneath it and what shoes if you have any tips?!

I was thinking maybe a black bralette type top (am fine with showing a bit of cleavage!) but can't find any nice ones.

Re shoes - due to the length of the trousers cannot be higher than a 3 inch heel, I've tried on all the ones I have (nude, black etc) but none of them look right 😢

This is lovely, would you mind sharing where it's from please?

@juicy0 here you go www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1201498002.html it keeps going on and out of stock but I managed to get a black and a pink one last week

@nopeasplease ah fab, love that suit! I'd like to see it with something clean like the styles below. I think something like these heels could work

Thank god I’ve been pointed in the direction of this thread!
I’m after ideas for a work Christmas night out outfit where we’re going to Manchester, going for dinner and then out to bars. I’m 36, 5’4”, size 8-10…definitely lost my way with style since having my kids. I’m usually found in skinny jeans, tucked in shirt and Chelsea boots. Chunky heeled boots is the most heel I can manage!

frillseeking · 18/11/2023 22:26

@Teaandbiscuits16 how chunky are the boots? In my mind I was thinking of a sequin or metallic mini with black tights, boots and a statement knit or something like the H&M cardigan I shared

@nopeasplease

I love these! Thanks so much. Are they Zara?x

frillseeking · 18/11/2023 23:15

@nopeasplease yes they're from Zara 😀 they're the nicest ones I've seen tbh, I haven't seen many nice shoes around this season

@Teaandbiscuits16 ah ok, they'd go with anything then really. I was thinking the kind of look below. I also came across this gorgeous velvet dress from River Island which looks great with tights and ankle boots
