Last time I looked, in the uk you can get silk long johns at John Lewis and Lands End. I bought a couple of the matching silk vests from Lands End to wear under dresses etc in winter (they almost always have a huge sale) but honestly I don't think I've worn them more than than twice - they're quite long (and I'm quite short) so hard to wear under a top, but mostly the silk jersey feels really odd to me - something about the texture?

faustina · 19/11/2023 07:41

they still have them at JL

lordloveadog · 19/11/2023 07:49

Mine are much thinner than that so don't add bulk.

Dee1224 · 19/11/2023 09:24

@redfacebigdisgrace - I have a very thin roll neck top from Mango and a thicker one from Uniqlo that I wear under itchy jumpers. I find the neck on the Uniqlo one less constraining than the Mango, (which is a bit clingy and irritating).

applecatchers36 · 19/11/2023 10:25

Also like the Uniqlo base layers, the heat tec ones are warm. They wash well and last years..

Snowyowl78 · 19/11/2023 11:01

What are the silk under stuff for?

faustina · 19/11/2023 13:25

@Snowyowl78 - I think mostly as a base layer when very cold.

Dee1224 · 19/11/2023 17:38

Hi all,

For fans of Celtic & CO’s sheepskin insoles:

They have clocked onto people getting the insoles for free, exc. P&P and put the price up to £22!

Just thought I’d mention it, in case anyone else was thinking of ordering.

The money off codes I mentioned earlier are still valid against purchases.

Caterpillargirl23 · 19/11/2023 20:30

@Laska2Meryls
I too hope you come back, I don't post on this thread but love reading it, especially your posts.

MiracleToast · 19/11/2023 20:48

Oh gosh @Dee1224 I’m glad we got ours when we did although have to admit I felt a little guilty about it... but my feet are warm ☺️

Dee1224 · 19/11/2023 21:07

Hi @MiracleToast - I will make it up to C&Co by doing another order soon!

I am guessing someone at C&Co towers is in the doghouse 🙃🐾 for not specifying a minimum spend. It would also be difficult for them to withdraw the promotion because it’s valid until 31/12, but putting your prices up is a bit drastic!

Meanwhile, I felt quite ‘Toasty’ today wrapped in my linen apron whilst making a cake for eldest DS’s birthday tomorrow. He’s all grown up, but still expects mummy to bake him a chocolate cake. (I wouldn’t say I am a natural baker but it’s the thought that counts.) I then celebrated my maternal achievement by making a banana cake with my new mixer, which I ate whilst watching Strictly!

MiracleToast · 19/11/2023 21:56

Sounds like a brilliantly toastie day @Dee1224 the cakes sound delicious, as does the image of the apron, the mixer and the delighted birthday boy ☺️

Snowyowl78 · 20/11/2023 09:27

Got my reworn velvet dresses today but they are way too small! Both 10s and I could barely get them on. Good condition though and they arrived in a box strangely. Sending back!

Countmeout · 20/11/2023 10:11

That’s disappointing @Snowyowl78 . Mine miraculously is out for delivery a day early after disappearing into Swansea’s black hole on Friday. Will report later. Amazed at the box!

What did you order @Countmeout ?

Countmeout · 20/11/2023 10:32

@Snowyowl78
This https://www.toa.st/products/stripe-organic-crinkle-poplin-dress-woad

I was going to try it if it went into sale but I don’t think it’ll drop in price to the reworn one so 🤞🏼it fits.
I have the skirt which I love.

@Countmeout oh nice! Didn’t see that one

Countmeout · 20/11/2023 15:56

My reworn item is a hit @Snowyowl78 The condition is excellent, it fits in an oversized way, I think had I a smaller bust the smaller size might have done but overall very pleased especially with the price.

Snowyowl78 · 20/11/2023 16:48

Ooh that’s good news @Countmeout ! How much was it?

Trinitybean · 20/11/2023 18:14

My not unsubstantial wool coat also arrived in a box, I don't know how they got it in there. As new condition, all good.

Countmeout · 20/11/2023 19:39

It was £52 @Snowyowl78 . I think for me it was the right price point. I used to buy the odd thing on eBay but was always a bit tight about what I wanted to pay. And of course fit could be an issue on eBay, have had a couple of things not right for size. So for me that price is right second hand. sorry yours didn’t work out. Have you got the other velvet dresses yet?

No box for me @Trinitybean , I got the bog standard paper bag although at least it was wrapped in tissue. Glad yours was good. I certainly would be tempted to buy again if something popped up I wanted , I tend to be sorry I missed things a lot.

Trinitybean · 20/11/2023 19:56

Cheers, yes definitely being able to return made it a much easier decision. also tissued wrapped.

Snowyowl78 · 20/11/2023 20:23

Ooh that does sound like a good deal @Countmeout i think they all all pretty well priced actually, and often cheaper than second hand sites. I wonder why some in boxes! I actually prefer the bags

Stravaig · 20/11/2023 20:46

So Toast Reworn is actually undercutting eBay sellers? Which of course Toast can afford to do, given the clothes are donated to them for free, whereas eBay sellers had to actually pay Toast for ours in the first place. They really are utter bleeping bleeps!

Countmeout · 20/11/2023 21:05

Certainly at their price points things are kept moving @Stravaig . I assume they don’t want things hanging around for too long. I wonder has anyone donated ‘the’ pink dress yet.
There was a checked sundress reappeared 2/3 times similar to the Pond but not sure if it was the Pond.
I also wondered if some of the clothes were staff buys given they get such a good discount and most people probably couldn’t hang on to all their work outfits as they seem to change so frequently.
