@MrsCat1 oooh what’s your best dress? What’s sizing like? I went for 14’s all round, they say to size up if anything. I plan to be a stone lighter in 2 months but I’m not sure how achievable that is

Saurus72 · 18/11/2023 12:04

Ah yes, definitely a financial commitment. Plus why, why are yoga pants/leggings so expensive? I really would like to add in some reformer Pilates but it’s £18 a class where I live, so that on top of my yoga payment would be a lot. Maybe once the mortgage is cleared…

Noodle421 · 18/11/2023 12:09

@Saurus72 such a good investment in our old age but still a financial juggle

Noodle421 · 18/11/2023 12:11

I recently got some lovely compliments for my ‘all things’ toastie outfit - linen slate pinafore/Tencel layering top and last years beautiful Yak scarf. It felt good !

MrsCat1 · 18/11/2023 12:11

@Snowyowl78 I think they are fairly true to size. They really are lovely - so many to choose from. I've had my 'best, best' dress for about five years. It's in their 'fan print' fabric and it always gets admired. It's the style with a knot at the side. Highly recommended.

Do let us know how you get on? How many have you ordered?

Snowyowl78 · 18/11/2023 12:13

@MrsCat1 i have ordered 4 dresses in crepe and velvet. They all look rather long, I’ll prob have to have them taken up. I think one of them I’ve seen Lauren Laverne in. Glad to hear about your best dress!

Snowyowl78 · 18/11/2023 12:13

@MrsCat1 they are all like £100 off!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 18/11/2023 12:25

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding @Snowyowl78 , how lovely.

I go to one Yoga and one Pilates class each week, I'm quite interested in adding in Tai Chi, but the local class for that is a Monday lunchtime so not very convenient.

Dee1224 · 18/11/2023 12:39

Celtic &Co ‘free’ sheepskin insoles have arrived - they are huge and fluffy! Ddog thinks they are for him, so they are currently hiding in the shoe cupboard!

@Snowyowl78 very exciting wedding news, would love to see which dresses you are considering. I hope the perfect one finds you 💕

oddandelsewhere · 18/11/2023 14:13

@Firesideknitting , I do hope your boy feels better soon.

To update my coat hunt, I got a very nearly perfect one from House of Bruar, I know someone else on here said they would like the same kind of coat, but I can't for the life of me remember who it was.

Anyway, it's 120 cm long so will cover a dress, neat fit on the shoulders with raglan sleeves then A line with the belt removed. I've also removed the neck and wrist straps. It's made of microfiber which I was suspicious of, but it feels like soft cotton canvas. Amazingly it cost £87!! I think it's reduced because they only have navy left, but I would have chosen that anyway. I don't know how to do links, but it's called a long microfiber raincoat if anyone's interested.

Do you think that the sale, if there is one, will have warm clothes in it, or will a sale at this time of year have all summer things in it? I could do use some more warm clothes!

MiracleToast · 18/11/2023 14:44

Mine too @Dee1224 !

Dee1224 · 18/11/2023 14:46

Hurray @MiracleToast - very fluffy!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 18/11/2023 14:50

@Dee1224 Perhaps I should have got some - my labs would have loved playing tuggy with them 😁

MiracleToast · 18/11/2023 14:51

Very much making me want loads of sheepskin rugs all of a sudden @Dee1224

Dee1224 · 18/11/2023 15:11

🤣@Theteapotsbrokenspout - it’s not too late!

@MiracleToast - unfortunately Ddog has a sheepskin fetish, so no rugs allowed here!

faustina · 18/11/2023 15:52

@Snowyowl78 - a toastie wedding - how exciting! I hope you find the perfect dress and show it to us soon here!
@Firesideknitting - I'm so sorry to hear things didn't go according to plan, but you're home now which in my books always makes things slightly better. Do please post pics of your amazing gown

Proper bread (with lots of butter) is my downfall too and I literally can't have it in the house, although I noticed last week a very wonderful looking new micro-bakery has opened very near so I might possibly have to order one thing to try. She is Maltese and she does something called Ftira which is used in the Maltese version of pan bagnat (also my downfall)

Whoever it was up the thread who complained about the price of exercise clothes - Sweaty Betty is doing a very good Black Friday sale and I can really recommend the power leggings (not the high waisted ones though). I have a few pairs and they have lasted forever

@Laska2Meryls - a please don't leave from me too

Snowyowl78 · 18/11/2023 15:54

Thanks everyone. I buy all my exercise gear from Matalan! It’s pretty good, and cheap!

lordloveadog · 18/11/2023 18:05

I bought some Sweaty Betty power leggings when I was in the UK recently and also some supersoft yoga ones. Sold them my email address for 20% off. Am v pleased with the leggings so far. The power in xl and supersoft in xxl were good on a very curvy 18. Decided 8 months of regular gymming was enough to earn proper kit instead of the old walking tights I was wearing.

Someone asked where I bought silk liner long johns. Afraid it was in Scandinavia. Shops called Twilfit and Siden Selma have them, but I can't figure out on phone if they have international delivery. Silk liner tops are brilliant too under jumpers.

Ragdollkitty · 18/11/2023 21:08

and of course starting threads that many of you claim to be too incompetent to begin while accusing these two of “controlling” the same threads

Not wanting to stir any drama up but has this actually happened?

Long running threads on MN are usually started by the same posters, it's a tradition
A new thread is always followed by thanks for starting it etc
What claims of incompetence?

Where has anyone made remarks about the 2 posters being controlling over the threads?
What does that even look like?

I have very much enjoyed everyones contribution, particularly Cherries outfit of the day and it has inspired me to try some new combinations.
So don't speak for me thank you

AmethystMoonShine · 18/11/2023 21:34

Did anyone brave the rain for the Toast Christmas Market today?

Just wanted to say I’m sorry to hear of what your poor son is going through @Firesideknitting it sounds frustrating and exhausting for you all.

Congratulations @Snowyowl78 so exciting! I do hope you share your dress hunting with us.

@Laska2Meryls I too dearly hope you don’t leave us. I also remember you from the Hush threads all that time ago and love your posts on here. You make me smile, laugh and I love hearing of your travels in your camper.

This thread means a lot to me, it gives me an escape from less joyous parts of life and that’s precious. I learn so much and love the diversity and creativity I find here on pretty much a daily basis.

alliscalm · 18/11/2023 21:51

I don’t post much but I love these Toast threads because they are usually a refuge of support and kindness. It’s such a shame some of the people who have contributed most have been upset over the past few days and I would hate to see them leave.

I’m going to pipe up too - not to create trouble but to support those whose contributions on this thread I hugely appreciate and would be very sad to see disappear. I agree I’m not aware this has actually happened either (referring to quote). Who on earth cares which person sets up the new threads anyway !! I have such soft spots for @ilovecherries always kind, warm, caring and thoughtful and compassionate with her words @dudsville who makes me laugh out loud and @Laska2Meryls so helpful and generous with advice and who makes me want a camper van.

Noodle421 · 18/11/2023 22:22

it was me @lordloveadog asking about silk long johns. They sound lush !

redfacebigdisgrace · 18/11/2023 23:55

@lordloveadog SB power leggings are the business. I’ve got my eye on the gold foil ones for a bit of Christmas bling.

On the subject of silk liners. What do people wear under itchy knits? I think I need a silk roll neck.
