I just did the wish list - I chose the men’s jumper, crackers and the silver earrings. While I’d love to win (of course!) this wasn’t a stellar selection for me. Last week on the other hand was dream scenes…

I’m really thinking I need to slow down my Toast dress buying a bit. I’ve bought 3 over the past couple of months and honestly, I’ve hardly worn them. I think partly, timing wasn’t great - the Bryn leaves dress for example, I think I’ve worn a couple of times but that was because I bought it in September, so I expect to wear it loads next Spring/Summer. And the crinkle tiered navy dress - I’ve worn it once so far but I think it will be in heavy (ish - all relative 😬) rotation once Christmas events start. I think I’m reaching critical mass. I’m tempted by the Greta harlequin dress, the tie shoulder harlequin dress and the maya cord one. But on the basis that I have so many others already not sure I can justify. In fact I can’t at all.

OTOH, I can justify another pair of the Chup socks - so beautiful, warm and hygge. Perfection in sock form, despite costing £39 😵‍💫

faustina · 09/11/2023 16:08

I chose the Moroccan green glass decanter and little glasses and the ramen bowls- very pretty things but like @Saurus72 not my dream choices today

I seem to have gone into buying hibernation - maybe because I'm enjoying wearing the things I bought at the end of last winter for the first time - especially the beautiful peacoat. Still not cold enough to try the padded coat

also - completely not Toast, but very sweet and quirky. I saw a preview last night on Uniqlo of a collaboration they have coming up with Anya Hindmarch - some really pretty lambswool jumpers and a really nice little folding bag. Very tempted to buy the green and the navy, but the orange is lovely too:

Oh! Thanks so much for that @faustina - I’ve signed up for a reminder. LOVE the lambs wool jumpers, so sweet.

OftenOrange · 09/11/2023 17:08

@Faustina Love the repair , the robe must feel very dear to you again.
@dudsville Yes the wishlist , chose earrings, tie necked top and green glasses.

Stoic123 · 09/11/2023 17:37

Looks gorgeous @faustina - Toast really does a good repair.

Wishlist chosen: Top, Christmas Crackers and the Ramen Bowls. The bowls are lush.

Noeggsontoast · 09/11/2023 17:54

@faustina a beautiful repair. I love the shade of green jumper in the new Uniqlo collab.

@Saurus72 like you there are a couple of dresses I'd like but have quite a few already so no real need for any more.

I selected the tie neck top, glasses and crackers.

clowniform · 09/11/2023 18:00

What a happy ending to the robe saga @faustina That boro patchwork is totally in keeping with its style and colour, such a lovely thoughtful repair. 😃 Also eagerly anticipating Uniqlo x AH -- it all looks bloody adorable! Slightly miffed the grownups hat doesn't come with a pompom... may have to mug a child for theirs.

Beautiful cords @beechwoodmouse and @Theteapotsbrokenspout the sage colour is so special. I may be alone in rather liking the contrast of the drawstring with them.

Wishlist picks: green glasses, silver earrings, tie top. I was tempted by the ramen bowls until I saw they were only 18cm dia. which evoked tragic image of a miserly ration of weevil-y noodles to be shared between a dozen barefoot urchins, NOT very Christmassy😿Good luck to all this round 😁

Countmeout · 09/11/2023 18:43

Wish list- silk tie top, decanter and silver earrings. Is it my imagination or are the things not as generous as last year.

Dee1224 · 09/11/2023 18:53

Great repair @faustina - thanks for sharing. My repair came back too - just some quite wobbly chain stitching used to tack down a ratty collar. It doesn’t look marvellous, tbh, but better than before and free, so I am grateful.

Re: Wishlist I chose the earrings, crackers and the top. I can guarantee I won’t win, though. (The only thing I have ever won was a box of fruit and veg in the school Xmas raffle when I was 13. My DM was thrilled- me less so…)

mizu · 09/11/2023 18:54

Men's sweater, jacquard dress and the bowls - all gorgeous.

faustina · 09/11/2023 20:01

@Countmeout - I think last year there were spectacular wishlist weeks (like the one when Laska won) and not so spectacular wishlist weeks. Hope one of us gets lucky again!

MiracleToast · 09/11/2023 21:05

Wish list—dress, top, earrings

Wondering if previous week has been announced yet?

There seems to be more homeware included this year.

ScottishMouse · 09/11/2023 21:25

What a lovely repair @faustina. Sorry to hear yours is a bit underwhelming @Dee1224 I guess it depends on the repair person.
Now wise knitting and knitwear people, tell me what to do about this….
I put one of my wool/cashmere neat sweaters into what I thought was a wool wash but set the dial on my machine wrong and it has come out looking quite small and feeling like the wool has contracted. I have measured it against another one of the same sweater and it is definitely smaller by a couple of inches at least in length and width. I have stretched it a bit and laid it flat to dry. Will it stretch when I put it on, or is it doomed to be too small forever? Anything else I can do to help it back to its original size? Thanks!

AmethystMoonShine · 09/11/2023 21:40

Lovely repair on that gown @faustina Ive not seen that style before so I can see why you’re keen to lengthen it’s life. Maybe a seamstress could make a pattern from it if ever it becomes beyond saving?

Wish list for me was the dress (love it styled with a jumper over), earrings and the little glasses. Tempted by the decanter too.

Stoic123 · 09/11/2023 21:52

@ScottishMouse - I tend to try to stretch out fully while damp as more difficult once dried.

I put a pair of wool Toast socks in the wrong wash the other day and they came what looked like toddler sized. I managed to get them on my feet while damp (much stretching and shoving) and they seem to be fine now.

Noodle421 · 09/11/2023 23:39

@faustina Beautiful repair, you must be delighted ! Pleased you have a happy ending.

Snowyowl78 · 10/11/2023 03:57

@ScottishMouse i did the same on a Charl Knit jumper the other day, really annoyed. I actually washed it in a wool wash but it looks contracted and vaguely felty on the roll neck. And it’s smaller. I then cold washed it with conditioner which didn’t do much. I might try again with a lot more conditioner. Good luck with yours! The conditioner wash might work

MsDastardley · 10/11/2023 05:53

@ScottishMouse i put a pair of my new Brora cashmere mix tights in my normal wash. They came out the size of baby tights. I could have cried. I soaked in fabric conditioner, washed again, reshaped. I might have done this a couple of times. They are almost back to size and wearable now.

Snowyowl78 · 10/11/2023 11:59

I am back from the KC sample sale, got a few lovely bits, not as much as I was hoping for - I was hoping for more jackets and knitwear. But still I got the Orange flecked fair isle jumper from current season, those khaki bird pjs from last years. A really really nice blue jacket that I’ve never seen before which I think is possibly a true sample that didn’t get made- see pic - does anyone know it? It’s prob a smidge too small as it’s a XS but I got it anyway! Also this cord shirt which is current season. The jumper wasn’t wildly discounted! Still £30

Snowyowl78 · 10/11/2023 12:13

I meant still £130!

faustina · 10/11/2023 12:28

some lovely things @Snowyowl78 - I wonder why the jumper was reduced if it's current season? I love that blue jacket - It looks really useful!

@ScottishMouse - that's awful about your jumper, but if it's only a couple of inches maybe it will stretch once you put it back on? I once accidentally washed a Toast cashmere blanket in a 60 degree wash (it had got lost amongst sheets and duvet covers). As one of the main things I'd take from a burning building, the moment of discovery was not a good time for me, but very luckily it was absolutely fine - exactly the same size as before

@AmethystMoonShine - that is a very good idea! I don't think it would be hard to make - very simple pattern, but much nicer than a proper kimono shape because it's much neater once tied

Snowyowl78 · 10/11/2023 12:31

@faustina i think the jumper is a sample?

dudsville · 10/11/2023 13:47

Lovely items, especially that jumper @Snowyowl78 .

I haven't posted much about clothes I'm wearing as I'm travelling with just a carry on, and doing things that require v low maintenance clothes, but those striped denim trousers i dyed have been very useful. I'm about to go to a colder destination and for that I have some brown cords and the pistachio jumper. I'm looking forward to wearing a different color pallet for a few days!

ScottishMouse · 10/11/2023 13:47

Thanks for all the knitwear shrinking good wishes. I haven’t had a chance to look at it again this morning as I left early for work and won’t be home until late. I doubt it will be fully dry yet so will try putting it on damp and see I can stretch it out a bit that. Fingers crossed, it’s one of my faves of course.

Countmeout · 10/11/2023 14:34

That was a lovely set of purchases @Snowyowl78 . I think the jumper was a good price.

I hope the stretching works @ScottishMouse , so annoying that it shrunk.
