I’ve realised the blue jacket is a copy of that karate-esque ecru one that Kat Atkinson styled on a Live! Now I’m wondering if there’s a blue belt something on the floor of Kilver court..

@ScottishMouse good luck with your jumper!

OftenOrange · 10/11/2023 15:23

I love the items you found in KC@Snowyowl78 , I don’t remember seeing the blue jacket before , maybe in a future collection ?
@ScottishMouse The possibility of stretching a shrunk item never occurred to me , but the advice here makes it seem really hopeful .
@dudsville Your colour scheme sounds delicious!

mizu · 10/11/2023 16:56

Sample sale items - can you tell I love green!
Was busier than I thought @Snowyowl78

Dee1224 · 10/11/2023 17:25

Lovely clothes @Snowyowl78 and @mizu What were prices like generally?

Snowyowl78 · 10/11/2023 17:48

Ooh nice green hues @mizu what size was that jumper? I saw a few like that but they were all a Small so I didn’t bother

prices were ok but not as heavily discounted as I’d imagined. Orange jumper was £130 from £195 full price, and the cord shirt £70 from £135. Pjs £65. A lot of stuff was down as samples but we’re precious seasons and pretty much sale price I think.

Snowyowl78 · 10/11/2023 17:49

Were previous seasons I meant

Dee1224 · 10/11/2023 17:50

Thanks @Snowyowl78

OftenOrange · 10/11/2023 17:54

@mizu Another green lover here, all lovely but the Donegal is 💚💚

mizu · 10/11/2023 18:08

Donegal was a S and was £95. Green cord dress was £80 and the same style as a current blue one. Check dress was £65.

Some things were still way too expensive. I wanted to see more bags, bowls and bedding.

ilovecherries · 10/11/2023 18:27

Love the checked Maya dress. I have it in rust and navy and it’s just lovely to wear. And one can never have too many Donegal jumpers!

Countmeout · 10/11/2023 19:18

Lovely @mizu . I love green too!

@mizu - what a beautiful selection you made. I also really love the donegal jumper

mizu · 10/11/2023 20:13

They look so lovely together, don't they. I tried on so many things but these 3 were firm favourites. It was actually quite exhausting 😁

I met a uni friend there and we had lunch after 3 hours of TOAST trying on. Went back there after eating and she said 'I don't think I can take my clothes off again!' So we just browsed, it had really calmed down by about 1:30 and so much had sold.

One of the TOAST shop assistants was wearing the most beautiful green Jacquard cropped trousers, the same material as the current sleeveless Jacquard dress. She said they were a sample. Wondering if they are in the current collection and I just haven't seen them.

mizu · 10/11/2023 20:42

@Countmeout yes! But a lighter, more olive green. Perhaps they looked cropped because she was really tall!

Countmeout · 10/11/2023 20:43

The colours online are never that accurate @mizu so maybe. I wonder if you could take them up if you weren’t so tall.

OP posts:
mizu · 10/11/2023 20:46

@Countmeout I'm quite tall but not that tall! Wonder if they'll go into a sale?

Snowyowl78 · 10/11/2023 21:37

@mizu the lady with the long dark hair and the new mohair jumper? I thought she was the whispering lady from previous live but I might have made it up. I assumed that was the dress! But I didn’t look very closely. Culottes sound lovely!

mizu · 10/11/2023 21:39

@Snowyowl78 I assumed the dress too and complimented her on it as I love it and she told me it was trousers and that they were a sample. Loved her whole outfit.

Snowyowl78 · 10/11/2023 21:43

@mizu ooh I want the trousers!

Wish I could keep up with this thread !
@ToastCosILoveIt Hope your new job is going well. Please can I ask how you are getting on with your tasselled Sturlini loafers. I have a high instep so am worried my heel will lift up when I walk . They don’t seem to stock them in my local shop otherwise I’d try them on. I love the colour. @faustina im looking forward to seeing your repair too. I’ve seen some lovely examples of Toast repairs with friends clothing. Did you take a before pic?

Hi, the new job is going well thank you. I have just got back from work having been away from since Tuesday. A women admired my coat at the airport and asked me where it was from. It was a blue long waxed mac from Barbour in collaboration with Margaret Howell. She was wearing a Plumo grey Jack jumper which I recognised (because I have it) and commented on. I love having those random “appreciation of clothes” conversations with women I don’t even know.

The Sturlini loafers are going well around the house 😀. I have been wearing them in that way but really should get out in them. When I am away I can only really travel with the clothes I am wearing as I travel with a carry on case only. So, I keep a pair of Cos Mary Jane shoes in my locker and travel in trainers or boots. I did however wear the Sturlini soft leather boots which I didn’t wear in but which gave no issues (and I did a reasonable amount of walking in them).

With the Sturlini loafers, the instep did feel high at first but I think I have got used to them. However, the test will be being able to walk 10-12 thousand steps in a day in them and not have them slip or pinch. I will update!

Snowyowl78 · 11/11/2023 08:33

@mizu did you see this at the sale

i thought I’d found the unicorn as I’d tried it on originally an loved it but sent it back due to price, but when I tried on the sample it was back to front! The buttons were at the back! I have no idea how you’d get it on or off so I put it back on the rail!

mizu · 11/11/2023 09:33

@Snowyowl78 yes!!! Saw it, love the colour and did try on and thought exactly the same. What a shame as it's gorgeous.

Noodle421 · 11/11/2023 09:33

@ToastCosILoveIt thanks for the feedback and glad you are enjoying your new job. I also ordered one of the MH/Barbour jackets some time ago but sent it back almost immediately as I thought it looked too voluminous on me. It was a hasty decision and I often wonder whether I should’ve given it more time and appreciation or gone down a size as it sounds truly special, a beautiful item of clothing that should last for years if not decades.
I think I will wait to see if the tasselled loafers appear in my local shop so I can have closer inspection and a try on. I’m slightly concerned they won’t fit my slightly tricky feet and I can’t be bothered to order online only to have to return. I’m very impressed with Sturlini so far, I have the black derby lace-ups and the zip up boots in chocolate brown and they have to be the comfiest footwear I’ve ever owned. A good investment I hope providing they stand the test of time. My friend is a massive fan of the Plumo Jack jumper, so much so she’s purchased it in several other colours. She finds them so easy to wear and versatile and stylish too.

Noodle421 · 11/11/2023 09:44

So having a gap in my wardrobe for a plain coat, I decided to buy a second hand Marina Rinaldi coat from a market stall in pure wool . The light was fading and I bought it within 5 mins of trying on so I only hope to goodness it’s ok !!! It’s currently in the freezer as moth precaution so I can’t try on at home yet . Most unlike me to make make such an impulsive decision. Fingers crossed it’s not been a waste of money. I’d never heard of the brand but I gather they are or used to be part of Max Mara. Doesn’t show any signs of ever having been worn, just smells musty as though it’s been in a wardrobe for a long time.
