@Countmeout - ah! so I didn't have a massive concentration fail after all - thank you! I don't think she's very tall, 5'8 ish, but it makes all the difference with wide trousers which you can't turn up. Yes, the ones with the white pyjama type tie at the waist

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - that would be very kind -thank you!

oddandelsewhere · 06/11/2023 09:28

Many thanks to everyone for all the kind coat suggestions. I've gone back temporarily to an umbrella. Hoping to console myself next weekend, I'll be in Yorkshire and can have a proper try on in the real shop in Harrogate.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 06/11/2023 10:21

@faustina arrived a bit crumpled but the length is good. The crotch is very dropped but doesn't feel uncomfortable, although there seems to be a lot of fabric when I sit down.
I love both the colours but can't afford both.

The new green corduroy trousers look good , but I just cannot get over the white drawstring..

Laska2Meryls · 06/11/2023 10:31

Oh, just saw your photos after posting that are those the green ones@Theteapotsbrokenspout? Of both, I prefer the lighter ones on you

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 06/11/2023 10:36

@Laska2Meryls yes, that’s the green, I thought the white drawstring was odd but once I had them on I didn’t really notice it.
I'll have to try them with some different tops and see which to keep, I really like the green but keep thinking the charcoal is more practical.

faustina · 06/11/2023 11:19

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - thank you for tagging me. The length is really good! Which size did you get (and which is your usual Toast size)? I really like the green ones, even though as you say, less practical, but they aren't long enough to make it impossible on muddy days, right?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 06/11/2023 13:19

@faustina I've got the medium, I’m a hs 12 but I hate anything tight across my stomach.
As for other Toast trousers, I bought the Suki denim panelled trousers in a M but they are a lot looser than these cords. Most of my gabis are 10's apart from one pair of cords in a 12.

Countmeout · 06/11/2023 13:31

They look great @Theteapotsbrokenspout . I love the colour of the green. Is that a Seasalt or Toast vest that is such a good match with them? Interested to hear how you find the sizing.

OP posts:
Theteapotsbrokenspout · 06/11/2023 14:12

Both Seasalt vests @Countmeout

faustina · 06/11/2023 14:15

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - they match the vest perfectly - thanks for the sizing info. I'm quite tempted now!

Dee1224 · 06/11/2023 15:27

@oddandelsewhere - there was a nice greenish/yellow raincoat/mac in the SM outlet that might fit your criteria, (it’s in some of the pictures I included up thread).

Thank you to whoever recommended the Uniqlo cord pull on trousers a while ago. I bought a pair yesterday for work and they great.

TerrierOrTerror · 06/11/2023 15:46

@Dee1224 I love the Uniqlo Cord Pull Ons! I am a bit in between sizes this year (last year's look too baggy, but the smaller size ones I have bought at just a bit too small) but hoping another few weeks and they will fit fine. I have lost quite a bit of weight this year so struggling to find joy in my wardrobe.

Dee1224 · 06/11/2023 17:16

I got the black ones @TerrierOrTerror - I now want the brown ones as well!

TerrierOrTerror · 06/11/2023 17:23

@Dee1224 I have brown (both in the bigger size and my new smaller almost-size) and the green. Still to wear the green.

TerrierOrTerror · 06/11/2023 17:24

Black cord and tan colour dog don't really mix well ...

Snowyowl78 · 06/11/2023 18:39

Does anyone know about Brora sizing?

No1Mousie · 06/11/2023 19:05

@Snowyowl78 in my experience it isn’t very consistent.

I’m a hs 12 on top, quite big busted with broad shoulders and a definite broad-hipped 14 for trousers/skirts. I always need a 14 in their skirts and I find their dresses quite long-waisted. I love their bombachos but they don’t love me - to long in the leg.

Their cotton blouses/shirts feel true to size, but the silk blouses tend to be neater. The knitwear is generously sized.

I tend to send quite a bit back due to sizing.

Snowyowl78 · 06/11/2023 19:28

@No1Mousie thanks for the advice. I want to order a silk dress so will prob need to order 2 sizes!

Good idea! And good luck - they’ve got some gorgeous dresses this winter 😊

Countmeout · 07/11/2023 15:58

Who was it bought the Seasalt wide leg crops please? I have just tried a pair in my local M and S but they only had a few sizes. I wondered how you find the fit and more importantly to me dld they stretch with wear?
Also @Theteapotsbrokenspout did you buy your normal size in the Seasalt tank or size up?
Thanks

OP posts:
Theteapotsbrokenspout · 07/11/2023 16:27

@Countmeout I bought my normal size in both the tanks - 12

Noeggsontoast · 07/11/2023 17:04

@Countmeout I have two pairs of those cords. Took in normal size and they don't stretch out very much - ie waist and bum.

Countmeout · 07/11/2023 17:19

Thanks @Theteapotsbrokenspout and @Noeggsontoast . I think I’ll order 2 sizes. The ones I tried on in Marks felt slightly too big yet I think a size down would be too small, so will have to experiment .

Quick shout out for the Alpaca deep navy-going on black buttoned tank .
It seems a hell of a price for a small sleeveless cardigan, but it has been brilliant for getting mileage out of blouses I’ve never got round to wearing.
It seems to give.a modern twist to quite meh tops ,and definitely amps up and warms up those cupro viscose dresses.
All too tempting to wear indoors with the merino top from Uniglo and my cosy cashmere joggers from Woolovers ! ( I know they have a frumpy vibe online but they are fantastic! )
