Baubles are gorgeous-wonder if there'll be any left next Friday.

dudsville · 03/11/2023 23:52

Ah, I'm wearing the checkerboard night dress spied from dee's sm pics and bought from then over the phone. It's lovely. Similar thinness to the botanical block print nightdress that I sometimes use as a slip. This one will double up that way too.

Love this thread's detour down the "cats, rats, baubles and paperchains" side alley. A new genre of toast chat. What does one wear to catch a rat? Or even to mop up a rain water? And can those outfits transition to baubles and paper chain hanging?

@ScottishMouse, sweetie, I’ve just read through a few of your posts. I’m so sorry things have been tricky. I’m a therapist (well was before I gave it up a few years back). Please be kind to yourself. Also feelings are a very important and normal part of life. How we process them changes with time/age/situation… there are some good little tools you can use to help deal with things when they become too overwhelming. Please believe me you’re doing much better than you think. I promise… so many hugs and best wishes towards you xxx

Dee1224 · 04/11/2023 09:24

🤣@dudsville - great idea for Toast’s next campaign!

Here are some more pictures of what’s currently at SM in case any is interested.

@Dee1224 ooh I see 4 of mine there, the pixel silk shirt, half sleeve jumper, patchwork jacket and jade cashmere jumper! Recommend all 4!

Thank you @Firesideknitting for taking the time to write this. So lovely of you.
I’ve spent a lifetime pushing everything down, and not even knowing that, so it’s feeling intense learning just how to be with the emotions, not to mind knowing what to do with them.
Thanks for saying I’m doing much better than I think. My therapist has said similar. I can see it some of the time, I just need to hold onto that in the times that it feels too much.
Really appreciate you responding. I have enormous respect for anyone in your (ex-) profession. You do such amazing work.

OftenOrange · 04/11/2023 11:07

@Dee1224 I hope the rain your way has abated, thank you posting the photos of the SM rails. Quite a bit I find very tempting , and a few pieces I own and still love are there.
Whoever recommended the Patchwork Denim jacket, I’m forever grateful. It’s been the most useful as well as loved piece.

Dee1224 · 04/11/2023 11:45

Thanks @OftenOrange - DH is up a ladder as I type😱

I almost bought the Toast logo cotton bag, but restrained myself as I have dozens of reusable bags already, (and still forget them most times I go to the shop!)

It was £9.50 in case anyone is interested. They have moved it from the main shop to their display window opposite.

Meanwhile, my search for a Toast pinafore continues!

mizu · 04/11/2023 12:13

@Dee1224 is that a scarf at the front of the first pic? Looks lovely.

Countmeout · 04/11/2023 12:26

Did anyone watch the live yesterday with Jenny Garcia? The pinafore she showed was not the shape I thought. She was fighting a bit against the sun initially, I’m not sure why they put her there.my favourite was the green twill dress with the jumper on top.

Dee1224 · 04/11/2023 12:31

Hi @mizu - yes, it’s last season’s Driftwood scarf - really lovely and I was tempted. I think it was £50.

Stoic123 · 04/11/2023 14:20

@Countmeout I also liked the green dress/jumper combo on Jenny- but nothing else caught my eye.

Hope roof gets sorted soon @Dee1224

I'm at home wearing Toast -a neat cashmere jumper, Suki denim trousers, and a Sunday kantha bed jacket.

Dee1224 · 04/11/2023 14:46

Thanks @Stoic123

DB is having a lovely day - several hours fighting with tarpaulin, whilst balancing on a borrowed ladder. Now he’s off to pick up DS1 from the airport / four hour round trip!

Meanwhile, I am debating whether to order more socks…

Dee1224 · 04/11/2023 15:05

I tried this on the other day.

https://www.toa.st/collections/womens-knitwear/products/graphic-yoke-donegal-sweater-fossil-grey-navy

It’s soft and cozy and the colours really suited me. Unfortunately it was too short and too wide for me. I can see on the picture that Toast have styled it with a shirt underneath- presumably to address this issue, but that look does nothing for me either😟. I was disappointed as I have been eyeing this up for a while.

Toast seem to be moving away from longer jumpers, to this shorter, boxier, flared style - I hope there is a return to longer jumpers soon!

Graphic Yoke Donegal Sweater | Fossil Grey/Navy

Our Fossil Grey/Navy Graphic Yoke Donegal Sweater is crafted from Donegal-spun wool. It has a high neck and raglan sleeves.

Countmeout · 04/11/2023 16:02

Is that jumper the same fit as the yolk sweater from 2/3/4 years ago @Dee1224 ? I have it on my wish list but I am going to look at the colours in person when I get to a Toast shop.

This one? I have this in a small, it was very oversized and is a very loose wool, not Donegal. I agree it needs worn over something.

I have at last taken the navy check Alix out of my basket, in fact I emptied the whole basket. Instead I’ve bought a shirt from Margaret Howell as I felt I was short in the winter shirt section of my wardrobe. I’m crossing everything I have guessed at size correctly as returns are not free and delivery is extortionate with DPD. I threw a pair of wrist warmers in too to make it all seem worthwhile. At least I know they will fit.

I forgot to say Jenny had on the navy tank but it was much longer than I thought, did anyone get what size that was? I still would like it. Fortunately the brown coat that I loved on Evie’s video left me cold on Jenny’s video. As that was saving me over £400 I am going to try a not dissimilar one from Stories. Half the wool content and half the price.

You are keeping your husband very busy, that should distract him from the sock buying. Is it still raining there?

Dee1224 · 04/11/2023 16:17

🤣@Countmeout - socks, what socks? (Sadly still raining here, but not as heavily!)

I think the yoke jumper might be a little bit longer on the body than the Donegal, but I don’t know for sure. The assistant I spoke to yesterday agreed that Toast jumper hemlines are going up, whilst width is increasing.

I think the Donegal is great if you are tall and thin like the model and want to wear a shirt sticking out underneath, or if you have a short body and are good at doing the French tuck thing.

Sadly, I am short, with a longer body, and on me it just looked ridiculous hovering above my waist line at a rakish angle.

If I had a dress it would ‘go with’, (I am thinking @dudsville’s landscape dress), it might have looked ok, but for me with trousers it was a very disappointed no😿

AmethystMoonShine · 04/11/2023 16:46

I was just thinking @Dee1224 that your husband's wrestling a tarpaulin up a ladder sounds rather like a Toast style photo shoot.....I do hope he was suitably attired Grin

Dee1224 · 04/11/2023 17:35

All he needed was a hoop @AmethystMoonShine!

The dog’s face as he watched DH draw up his huge and heavy chew toy at the end of a rope onto the roof to act as a weight was worthy of a Toast shoot in itself🤣

AmethystMoonShine · 04/11/2023 17:47

Grin novel use for a dog toy @Dee1224
Hope you’re water proof now?

Dee1224 · 04/11/2023 17:48

🤞@AmethystMoonShine !

ToastCosILoveIt · 04/11/2023 18:05

Loving this warm, toasty chat, hugs to all that are having a challenging time, small or big 🙂.

@Dee1224 this would make a brilliant John Lewis Christmas advert. You are a very funny writer and I’ll bet you are great fun in real life.

Dee1224 · 04/11/2023 18:41

Ah, Thanks @BrontëParsonage x

OftenOrange · 04/11/2023 19:30

@Countmeout I had on the navy alpaca tank today worn over a past season b/ w check loose a line shirt . The tank in my usual T size finishes at low waist level ,it gives that shirt hanging out look .
I thought it looked cool , but DH said it looked short . He has no Toast awareness .

faustina · 04/11/2023 20:36

@Dee1224 - hope it's all sorted out , and most importantly that your dog has got his chew toy back! I wish you'd taken some photos to share (but were probably pacing up and down - I know I would be) You absolutely 100% deserve some new socks now!
