Just looking for recommendations

The absolute collagen comes up on my SM a lot but the reviews are very mixed and £66 pm is not really ideal

TIA

Placemarking and bumping !

LadyBird1973 · 16/10/2023 20:06

I take the Davinia Taylor willpowders bovine collagen. She is very good about using decent ingredients and not filling her products full of junk.

Torres10 · 16/10/2023 21:24

I take hunter gatherer, both bovine & marine. Bovine is better for joints but marine is supposed to be better for skin..I couldn't decide the most pressing need, so take half of each :)

theworldsgonefeckingmad · 16/10/2023 21:25

I take marine one it's 2 tablets a day, took about 3 months to see improvement, tried absolute collagen omg the taste is vile like fish skin I couldn't stomach it

Botanica · 16/10/2023 21:27

I've just started on Absolute Collagen and despite having a very strong stomach, the flavour is really not good at all.

NutellaNut · 16/10/2023 21:31

I’ve just started taking half bovine, half marine. Too early to tell if it’s working yet, but was inspired by another thread where people said it worked for them. Here’s hoping!

Helenahandkart · 16/10/2023 22:03

I’ve been taking hunter gather bovine for a few weeks. Haven’t noticed any improvement with anything yet. Planning to do a three month trial before I give up on it.

TomAllenWife · 17/10/2023 10:42

Can you mix the bovine & marine?
Which brands are the better value?

I take marine collagen capsules. My skin's looking good, so I'm too scared to stop. Grin
Hated collagen powder- tasted like ground-up, rancid cow bones.

Hazel444 · 17/10/2023 10:51

I started using Ancient and Brave true collagen earlier this year for creaky joints. An unexpected (but welcome) side effect is my hair is thicker than it has been for years, and my skin looks amazing! Plus my knees feel like they did 20 years ago :)
I've tried a couple of different brands and this one really is tasteless and dissolves easily in any liquid - I add it to my morning coffee.

Luxembourgmama · 17/10/2023 11:27

Yes i find it good

ferretface · 17/10/2023 11:31

I have just in the last week started on Ancient and Brave marine (wild) collagen. I can't taste it at all. To be seen if it makes any difference, I'm a runner so hoping it will help support my joints as well as my skin.

Emmmmz9 · 17/10/2023 11:35

Another one for Ancient and Brave here. Been recommended it so thought I’d give it a go

Flutterbye22 · 17/10/2023 14:00

I take Revive marine collagen and I absolutely love it - saw results after just three weeks. Marked improvement in my skin and hair a lot silkier and fuller!!

mnahmnah · 17/10/2023 14:01

Why recommendations for vegan collagen? Does it work as well?

43ontherocksporfavor · 17/10/2023 16:08

I take 100% marine from The Pretty Smart Food Co via Amazon. Two tasteless capsules per day. Only been a week. Less to n £20 for 90.
A friend takes Kollo sachets and says they taste of passion fruit. She looks great on them and that’s what made me buy mine but wasn’t willing to spend that.

43ontherocksporfavor · 17/10/2023 16:09

Another friend takes vanilla powder from H&B and Dose and Co and says it’s nice in porridge.

43ontherocksporfavor · 30/10/2023 18:16

Ok so just an update but been 3 weeks and I’ve just noticed that my eyebrows are growing back at the ends and in the previously thinning areas! I’m so impressed.😀Also nails are much harder and haven’t broken all month which is very unusual. I feel my skin looks a bit better but also been alcohol free this month so not sure if it’s that or the collagen. All good.

Dizzybelle · 30/10/2023 18:28

I absolutely know that it’s not practical for everyone, but if you can, make your own bone broth - from all different kind of bones. It’s the best and most nutritious form of collagen . It’s so much more cheaper, than buying collagen supplements. Yes, for sure, there are many amazing collagen supplements out there, but they are so much more expensive from what you can make yourself.

43ontherocksporfavor · 30/10/2023 18:33

What bones? Would a chicken carcass do?

Offredismysister · 30/10/2023 18:42

I take the superdose collagen liquid, mainly because it’s half price in Costco. And it’s apple & mango flavour.
My skin looks amazing, I’ve not seen an improvement in my hair, which is what I bought it for. So I might give ancient & brave a go.

ClaireEclair · 30/10/2023 19:34

I take absolute collagen. Have been taking it for almost a year. Not sure if it has made much difference to my skin but my nails are much stronger and hair seems thicker. It HAS made a huge difference to my joints. I had very bad knee pain for about a year. Three weeks of taking AC it was gone. Last month I decided to stop taking because I thought maybe it wasn’t making much difference. After about a week my joint pain came back as did pain getting out of bed that I had before. Started my sub again and the pain has improved dramatically.

Cookerhood · 30/10/2023 19:37

Isn't collagen just digested like other proteins? So broken down to amino acid building blocks? I'm curious how it would work.

BHRK · 30/10/2023 20:00

I take Vital Proteins powder in coffee and can’t taste it really. Jennifer Aniston endorses it I think

Hanitiser · 30/10/2023 20:06

Interested in this. Wonder if I can take it whilst breastfeeding? Anyone know?
