...is the new laughing at salad.

Why do all fashion bloggers insist on postures that express, "sorry for existiiiiing! Aren't I the cutest doormat you've ever seen?"

My Pinterest feed is full of these women.

It's unsurprising that they have to stare at the ground when they're walking like this. I bet they hit lampposts all the time though.

I think they may be checking their legs haven't snapped looking at some of those!

You didn’t hallucinate Bookist

From the 'number of people talking about this' figure, it probably served its purpose, if just a small percentage of the 'wtf, Zara?' viewers thought, yeah, but I want some impractical green sandals...

I might have hallucinated this when I had COVID but I'm fairly sure there's an image of a Zara model squatting, yes actually squatting, on top of a cooker.

Back in my university days, all the cookers in our halls were put on nightly curfew timers, because a drunken idiot shat on a grill. Then grilled it.

Maybe it was this photographer.

OMG what have I just read? 😂

NonMiDispiace · 12/10/2023 06:30

The majority of clothes models look anorexic, thoroughly depressed and/or completely gormless to me (I’m an old fogey 🤷🏼‍♀️).
Why on earth they think that models with stick-thin bodies are the ‘norm’ or even vaguely attractive or feminine beats me!

Oh dear God. And I do wanted to be proved wrong, alas!

Why?? Ffs 😂

Let's be fair it's hard to stand up straight when your legs are thinner than most people's arms, they obviously didn't do sport at school (age).

I wish I could buy some of those vulnerable sleeves as I have unfairly long arms and I live in pushed up to just below the elbow sleeves

mdinbc · 12/10/2023 22:42

I once commented on an woman's beautiful pink trouser suit at an event, and she mentioned she got it from Zara. A few days later I had a look at the site, and never would have purchased from them the way the clothes looked on the models.

FastFood · 13/10/2023 06:01

Vulnerable sleeves - it's going to make my day.
I love vulnerable sleeves in the morning, in the privacy of my flat, with a (big) mug of coffee.
But vulnerable sleeves in public after 15 yo make me cringe.
I remember a guy who's a vulnerable sleeves guy. Nice guy but not an once of charisma.

Ithouught · 13/10/2023 11:53

I’m so glad you started this topic OP it’s something I pointed out to my teen a few months ago because I’d noticed others starting to copy the stand and hoped to stop her from joining in. I’ve not yet recovered from all the lads wearing their trousers round their hips, or that should say almost not wearing their trouser waist round their hips!

Wanttobekind · 13/10/2023 18:04

I’ve just realised that my favourite woolly jumper has vulnerable sleeves. This is because I am short and I have short arms, but it doesn’t have cuffs that can be tidily folded back. I am now unable to wear it because when I put it on today I was like, erm, no, I cannot even be slender and delicate and vulnerable because I am built like the back end of a bus. Damn you all 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

No, you're ok - I'm short too, it's just makes us look like we've borrowed a proper grownups jumper. Entirely different vibe!Grin

usernother · 13/10/2023 19:17

I was walking outside today wearing an oversized sweatshirt when I suddenly realised that my sleeves were too long, and I pulled them up just in case any lurking mumsnetters thought I was flaunting vulnerable sleeves Grin

Wanttobekind · 14/10/2023 10:15

This thread has created epic levels of paranoia 🤣

off · 14/10/2023 16:12

Not every overlong sleeve is a vulnerable sleeve. Sometimes it's a wafty free spirit dangle in your soup boho chic sleeve, or a "forgot my gloves" sleeve. And sometimes a sleeve is just a sleeve.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 14/10/2023 20:34

@TellingBone The AX Paris model always irritates the hell out of me. I feel like she's sending the message: "I am here to please"

The Sosander model always tells me: "My husband is richer than yours"

I've noticed a peculiar trend for poses with takeaway coffee cups. It's like they are all looking for a bin

For the cups or the clothes? In the 6 pictures you posted they're nearly all either raggy or falling off.

nomadmummy · 15/10/2023 07:33

The pigeon toed comments are HILARIOUS.

I had to wear dennison brown braces when i was a baby because I was born with my legs twisted inwards. I’ve had tibia torsion and patela femoral syndrome my entire life and fallen arches complicated by a rare bleeding disorder. My mum constantly scolded me for standing pigeon toed. Still at 48 its an effort. And yet by your comment and the petty comments you’ve invoked, I wish to thank you for confirming petty judgment still exists.

I’d live to see women judging women like this post their own beauty pics. Blogs, accomplishments etc. Seriously OP stop being so petty.

koalaknickers · 15/10/2023 07:38

Thanks for the link. Hahah yes! I have noticed how the media portrays women having hysterics or orgasms over healthy things. Wish salads had that effect on me, but I am more likely to be grimacing than grinning, I'm afraid.

WTF?! 😆

Pamalot · 15/10/2023 08:22

If I dont like how it’s being modelled, I dont buy it. Boden have gone very odd in that respect.
