I had a pair of jeans. They were a light blue, 3/4 ankle grazer length. Fitted beautifully and we’re very flattering. They were just from Next. In the days when Next sold clothes via a big hard back catalogue that was posted to you twice a year.

I lost weight and they were old and tatty so ended up in the bin. I often think of those jeans. I’ve never found anything the same.

My bomber jacket, blue and white. Nylon, campri, Loved it, was gutted when I outgrew it. Similar to Georges in the opening credits of Famous Five 1970s series.

ThePoshUns · 06/10/2023 06:42

My floral tea dresses from 1989

ThePoshUns · 06/10/2023 06:44

I used to love the old next directory as well, in the 80s my aspiration was to be able to afford whatever I wanted from there!
Loved my burgundy Next tasseled loafers as well.

SweetOldFanny · 06/10/2023 07:24

Such a nice question! I had a red shiny raincoat with ladybug design that I wore to bed because I loved it that much. Came home one day and my arsehole mother had gotten rid of it, that fucking bitch!
What about you, op?

StoatofDisarray · 06/10/2023 07:28

I had a raspberry pink sleeveless needle cord catsuit with flared trouser hems and patch pockets on the bum. It zipped up the front. Super comfy! Would definitely wear to the shops these days with clogs and a big woolly jumpers/scarf combo.

I had a gorgeous black velvet swing coat in my 20s. I lost weight so I gave it to a charity shop, so stupid.

Katiepoes · 06/10/2023 10:50

A patchwork dress with Holly Hobbie on it, I was five or six and adored it. Topped only by my official Kids From Fame rara skirt and matching sweater. I have never loved anything as much since those two.

Can you tell I was born in the 70s? 😀

uhtredofbattenberg · 06/10/2023 10:53

A very 80s dress for a formal dinner. It was soon very out, but then came back in. Wish I'd kept it even just to sell as a vintage gem.

A Topshop vest top, circa 1998-2000ish. It was black lurex, with a pink thread running through it, and it was insanely flattering to my bust and upper arms (although that might have been more my age than the top). I miss the era of a 'going out' top and jeans.

My leopard print slippers I had when I was about 6! One fell out of the car on a wee in the hedge lay-by type car stop around dawn on the way down to Cornwall on a family holiday. Roughly 50 years ago. I mourned them for years!

DelurkingAJ · 06/10/2023 15:01

I had a Jigsaw dusky pink suedete biker jacket with a striped lining. I wore it until it fell apart and still mourn it.

WereYouListeningToTheDudesStory · 06/10/2023 15:05

I wouldn't wear it now, but I used to have a top and shorts set with an ice skating penguin on it. I was incredibly attached to it. One day, it got caught in the washing machine door and was ruined. My mum had to gently break the news to me. I still remember standing by the washing machine with her and sobbing my heart out.

To this day, I'm religious about making sure my laundry is firmly in the washing machine before I shut the door.

The frock my great aunt made me for my brother's christening. It had a print of tiny blue flowers, puff sleeves, a sash and best of all, a petticoat. I was 4 and no other outfit since has made me feel as good.

Leafblow · 06/10/2023 15:49

A dress my grandma gave me when I was 15 to wear to a wedding, it was light grey and had a velvety corset style top and a layered hankerchief hem which sounds weird but was beautiful. It was really floaty and light.
I wore it again to be Titania in a play at college and it got stolen out of the dressing room after the last show and I was so sad

LittleGreenDuck · 06/10/2023 15:58

A red sweatshirt with a picture of a horse on the front. I was horse mad and wore that sweatshirt pretty much constantly when I was about 10.

motleymop · 06/10/2023 16:01

My 1980s suede pixie boots.

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 06/10/2023 16:06

In 1994ish, I had a jumpsuit from Principles petite, made out of a navy crepe fabric that hung beautifully. It was sleeveless, collared, sort of double breasted, wide leg. I loved it.

In 1992, I also had a navy and white spotty dress from top shop with very wide straps that crossed over at the back. Again, hung beautifully, and was swishy.

I was also a size 6-8 back then and things have changed quite a bit since.

stayathomer · 06/10/2023 16:08

Another with jeans- gorgeous blue colou, could be worn dressy or casual, fit over any shoes but weren’t too flared. And so comfortable! Le sigh … 😉

MissingMoominMamma · 06/10/2023 16:12

I had a navy hoodie with the wrangler horse and ‘Spirit of 76’ in white flock print on the front. I didn’t grow very fast, so I wore it until about 79, by which time it was beautifully soft and faded.

Swallowdoubleandrunamile · 06/10/2023 17:05

A beautiful French Connection knee length coatigan in cream with 'loopy' wool cuffs and collar in the early 90s
Cost a bomb and I still miss it.

Polkadotsaplenty · 06/10/2023 17:33

A thick wool cardigan with pockets and a collar in a real pale sea green lambswool. Beautiful it was
Oh and some velvet leggings

Ted27 · 06/10/2023 17:36

Purple velvet hotpots with star shaped buttons with my red platform shoes
Not that I could or would ever wear such items again but I remember them fondly

N4ish · 06/10/2023 17:38

A navy hoodie which fitted perfectly and was so soft and cosy. It fell into a pit toilet at Glastonbury so no hope of ever retrieving it - still miss it :(

mintbiscuit · 06/10/2023 17:40

My shell suit. More to give my kids a laugh
