When I was coming out of a general anaesthetic a few weeks ago I had a fleeting memory of some Tammy Girl cropped pinstripe jeans. I bloody loved those jeans.

Multiple PPs yearning for their 80s suede pixie boots. As am I. Why is nobody making them now?

Yes! I had burgundy suede pixie boots. Adored them. Definitely need a comeback

minipie · 06/10/2023 22:19

A white loose knit cotton jumper, so loose knit it was basically made of holes. Eventually became actual holes

A little black square neck vest top from Topshop, aka my pulling top 😳😆

A suede jacket my friend’s mum gave me (my friend was much bigger framed and would never have fitted it). Loved that jacket.

Lots of things I don’t miss including the orange suede trainers (mid 90s) and the vintage 70s shirt made of sweaty polyester

Fishandchipsatthebeach · 06/10/2023 22:28

I had some silver Chipie trainers. I was probably about 15/16 and never had the confidence to wear them so hid them away. I would wear them now!

minipie · 06/10/2023 22:34

oh gosh Chipie! Had forgotten them. And Naf Naf.

recklessgran · 06/10/2023 22:34

I had a beautiful Ossie Clark white crepe top. I wore it on special dates and felt a million dollars in it. I don't know what became of it but I sure wish I still had it even just to experience that feeling when you KNOW you look absolutely stunning just because of the clothes you're wearing.

Suede pixie boots worn with drainpipe jeans and a blue striped sweatshirt from a shop called Jean Genie bring back memories of going to university open days in 1980. The main memory is of how much my feet hurt in them.

Bleepbloopbluurp · 06/10/2023 22:39

I had a long denim dress, a bit like dungarees, with a belt that made me look v slim, that I bought in Paris when I was 18.
A black tea dress from Miss Selfridge which had little white circles and capped sleeves and which I bought when I was maybe 16
A grey wool mini dress from Warehouse that I got for christmas when I was 20
Two suede mini skirts I wore as a teenager, one dark blue with poppers in the front and one dead straight and light blue

I got rid in some Marie Kondo inspired stupidity but then I guess we really didn't have space to keep all my old stuff and I like to think it has had another home. My oldest daughter is now 17 and bemoans the lack of vintage clothes for her to share. TBH I doubt they would fit her- I was an 8/10, she a very small 6 but still.

Idonotthinkso · 06/10/2023 22:45

A Clothkits t shirt nighty. I had a pink one and my mum had the blue one. Eventually I got them both. They were the most comfortable cotton, long without being baggy, with an interesting back arm thing going on.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 06/10/2023 22:47

WHAM choose life T-shirt 😐.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/10/2023 22:52

A pair of black DM boots which my friend who was an art student painted for me - pink and blue flowers with green stems climbing up the back, and one pink daisy half peeping out by the front. Best, most comfy boots ever.

From around the same era, a Levi’s denim jacket which some dick stole in the student union and left a cheap one in its place. It was definitely stolen because the person was kind enough to switch the stuff that was in the pockets into the cheap one! I worked a lot of hours pulling pints to have that Levi’s jacket instead of an un-branded one, and it still cuts me deep.

I had a dress when I was 4 or 5 that I wore every day that my mother didn't pry it off me. I recently had a daughter and my mum said she kept my favourite 2 dresses from when I was little and she's bring them for my daughter to have. I was so excited and when she brought them over, neither was THE dress. I didn't remember either of these and am really sad to not have the one I loved.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 06/10/2023 22:54

I had a red chunky jumper which I absolutely loved
I left it in a Little Chef in Cambridge and didn't realise until I got home.
Also, some blue and white Adidas trainers ☹️

SagaNorensPorche · 06/10/2023 23:13

Another one for the suede pixie boots. Mine had tassels on the back too, got them from
Curtess. Also had a pair of gold lame trousers, that I used to wear clubbing.

Tessisme · 06/10/2023 23:32

During the early eighties, my mum knitted me an Icelandic style jumper in pure wool - mainly cream, with red, burgundy, pink and grey in the pattern. It was absolutely beautiful, but I don't think I appreciated at the time how much work (and love) went into it. I did wear it a lot though.

All my DMs

My dad's monocle. I used to put on a shirt and tie and borrow my dad's monocle; would love to know what happened to it. It would be so useful to me now.

caringcarer · 07/10/2023 00:27

My Auntie knitted me a gorgeous poncho and I was careless and I lost it. She is dead now and I'd pay £5k to get it back. I miss my Auntie so much.

Channellingsophistication · 07/10/2023 00:31

White cotton shirt with puff sleeves and pearl buttons which i’d sewn on and into cuffs as well. I wish i’d kept it!

DiscoBeat · 07/10/2023 00:36

My peach coloured ra ra skirt!

DramaAlpaca · 07/10/2023 00:57

My 1980s pixie boots were navy suede. I adored them and wore them until they fell apart.

Also my gorgeous black, lace-up granny boots in the softest leather. They split down the back seam and I threw them because at the time I didn't realise they could be repaired. I still miss them.

I also wish I'd kept a pair of fuchsia pink court shoes from the 80s. They weren't leather but fit perfectly and were so comfortable. I think I might have got them in Dolcis or Timpsons. I'd love to still have them for nostalgic reasons even though they aren't in fashion now.

moolady1977 · 04/04/2024 22:59

I wish I'd kept my long black mac , it wouldn't fit me but would look lovely in my wardrobe
