A black "leather" A-line pinafore dress I had pre-school. This was in the 60s - who was designing back leather clothes for small children?!

Anyway, it would look fab now in adult size.

KimWexlersPonyTail · 06/10/2023 17:43

My sta press 2 tone tonic trousers, loafers and doctors bag
My angel costume my granny made for my nativity play.

NancyJoan · 06/10/2023 17:43

I did very much enjoy my reversible 101 Dalmatians sweatshirt. Big dog on one side, 101 small ones on the other. Not sure I’d be so into it now tho.

SoLongAndThanksForAllTheVaricoseVeins · 06/10/2023 17:43

My Chelsea Girl denim jacket. None since has had such a good shape or been so soft. Or had such adventures.

hby9628 · 06/10/2023 17:52

A leather jacket. I was declutterring and think I accidentally sent it to the charity shop. Devastated

LifeofBrienne · 06/10/2023 17:55

At the moment I’m living in a pair of wide leg dark blue jeans while I wait for it to be cold enough for tights, boots and big jumpers. I’ve been thinking wistfully about the brown velvet jacket I bought from Camden Market in sixth form. In my imagination it would look totally retro and cool with my jeans but I will never get to test this.

tothesea · 06/10/2023 17:56

A cream angora jumper with gold lurex stripes from Dorothy Perkins circa 1981. I didn’t have many clothes as a teenager but at least I had one pair of dark blue stretch jeans and my special jumper for going to the roller disco.
I loved it so much. I really wish I’d kept it. I did keep my white ra-ra skirt. It was Topshop and a size 10 but seriously looks like a 6. And certainly couldn’t get it past my thighs now!

tothesea · 06/10/2023 17:59

I sometimes wonder if things like this I once owned still exist somewhere and are still being worn. Or are they at the bottom of landfill somewhere. Or was the wool used to make something else.
I guess I’ll never know!

merryhouse · 06/10/2023 18:09

@tothesea a size 10 but seriously looks like a 6

That would be about right. I've been buying "size 10" clothes recently, but I have a pair of teal cords we found when we were clearing out my dad's loft. They were my sister's when we were teenagers in the mid-80s, and despite fitting me quite well (button is snug but not straining) they gaily proclaim they are a size fourteen.

piscofrisco · 06/10/2023 18:12

When I was 22 I had a pair of tan suede ballet flats with a sort of gold strip around the top of them. I got them in Topshop Oxford circus. I still miss that store.Sound weird but they were amazing. I could dress them up or down and they somehow went with everything. I loved them and wore them til they fell apart.

Misstabithabean · 06/10/2023 18:14

A blue and white striped dress that made a circle when you spun around in it!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 06/10/2023 18:25

Black 1980’s suede pixie boots. I loved them.

I found a blouse circa 1996 in my cupboard. It was my favourite. Dorothy Perkins Size 16. Well. More like a 10. I thought I was fat. Clearly I wasn’t but I am now.

BridgetRandomfuck · 06/10/2023 18:28

Oh god, I remember when I got back from University in the late 90s and hadn’t unpacked my stuff totally (my fault, I get it). I had a bin bag full of clothes that my Dad assumed was for the charity shop and so I came back one day to half my wardrobe missing! There was a floral Oasis tea dress in there that I loved, a fitted Jeff Banks 80s dress coat, a suede 70s jacket that was my favourite charity shop buy, a great fitted 70s shirt as well. Some really unusual stuff and all gone in the blink of an eye…

Deathraystare · 06/10/2023 18:38

A pair of Evans snakeskin boots I lost in flat move!

MouseKeys · 06/10/2023 18:57

My grey 80s pixie boots which I absolutely loved and a pink and green skirt and top combo I think my granny brought back from a holiday in Madeira, I wore it all summer long.

Storynanny1 · 06/10/2023 19:03

I had a lovely cotton t shirt sort of fabric sun dress from cloth kits in the 80’s when I was a new young mum. It was a lovely sunny yellow colour, sleeveless with a dropped waist, which conveniently skimmed past my post baby tum. Wish I’d kept it.

IndiKid2015 · 06/10/2023 19:04

My orange United Colours of Benetton denim jacket from the 90s which I loved but I was only a kid so it would be too small now. More recently my berry colour velvet coat from Monsoon, I got rid of it because the lining was annoying but I still wish I’d kept it.

Mymugoftea · 06/10/2023 19:17

An SS Uganda cruise ship souvenir tee shirt I bought on a school cruise.

Way too small for me now of course, but what a great memory.

mambojambodothetango · 06/10/2023 19:37

I have fond memories of a nightdress with a donkey on it from when I was about 4.

Roserunner · 06/10/2023 20:02

I had a lovely miss sixty denim jacket, it was a fitted style and cost a fortune (or felt like it at 17). I only got rid of it as I could no longer fit in it. I wish I'd kept it for my DD as she would love it and it'd look great on her!

WellThisIsFun1 · 06/10/2023 20:53

A little black wrap dress from Miss Selfridge in 1990.

Mind you, I had the figure for it back then which I certainly don't any more.

FlutteryButterfly · 06/10/2023 20:58

Sexy longline tailored suit jacket- these days called a blazer. Bra peeping out underneath. I was 18 in 1996, thanks Spice Girls 🙈

FlutteryButterfly · 06/10/2023 20:59

Oh and yes my Shell suit from 1990.... mines was nsinky white with lilac and black patches. It was the bolloxs or at least I thought.....😬😂😂😂

Helenahandkart · 06/10/2023 21:17

Multiple PPs yearning for their 80s suede pixie boots. As am I. Why is nobody making them now?
