I have been in store today, Hampstead to be precise. There were three staff members in there and they couldn’t have been more helpful: interested and interesting. Of course they helped me spend but they were definitely invested in much more than that so full marks for their staffing today.
So, what did I buy? Well, I start a new job on Monday and despite having a wardrobe full of clothes, much of it Toast, I decided I needed some new clothes for the role!
So, what did I buy - most of it was from the new drop:
- linen silk jacquard trousers in lapis
- v-neck garden print dress in toffee
- ruffle collar crinkle twill shirt in spruce
- pintuck cotton gingham top in charcoal
- Sterling tasselled leather loafers
- patch pocket organic denim skirt
i sized down in the ruffle shirt but kept to normal high street size in the other things. I have a 10 reserved at Islington in the denim skirt as it felt generous and with stretching might be too big in the 12. The lapis trousers could have been the 10 or the 12 but I preferred the fit of the 12.
I also tried in the spruce tiered crinkle twill dress (someone was asking about this yesterday in the midnight) and a ten was definitely big enough but there is a bigger gap in my wardrobe for the shirt version of the dress.
I tried on the Stirling tread sole leather boots which I can confirm are wonderful. They are neat and wonderfully soft leather so definitely smarter than the average ankle boot. I may still buy them but I have a few pairs of black ankle boots including the DMs that I was wearing.
I didn’t try any of the velvet pieces on as I wasn’t taken with them: I need sleeves, none of this strappy stuff for winter!
i loved the ruffle collar slubby check shirt in ink which had passed me by on the site. Again, one to size down in. I didn’t buy it but was tempted.
The Postier bag was an absolute thing of beauty but I so do not need another bag.
Anyone who has their eye on the Kate Sheridan Scout bag, Kate has 20% off this weekend using the code AUTUMN20. Having said I don’t need another bag, I did succumb and buy the conker version on the Kate site as it is the sort of bag I use all of the time for phone and lippy.
It was wonderful to be in a Toast shop, everything felt lovely and the shop was busy with lots of women spending.
I am enjoying all of the chat about purchases and about Mary Jane shoes. I actually sold a pair of unworn size 5s on our Facebook page when it first launched. I had bought them on EBay but they were too small. I wonder if they are more generous in size now as I love them.
